  1. I enjoyed the whole big palooka portrayal of The Tick, caught up in this most dreamlike world. The whole thing felt self-improvised even when there were even Hitchcockian plots were introduced. It gave a show that essentially about nothing, some depth.
  2. He's right. 4 was an abortion 3 was worse. Not only did it invalidate everything that happened in Aliens in then had a terrible story involving a group of terrible British actors playing a group of tediously boring monks, then proceeds to have Charles Dance shag Ripley, who dies at the end while giving 'birth' to an Alien queen. I thought I liked 3 and the workprint myself, but after just watching it up until 38 mins, I took it out and put it into the "I don't want" DVD box. It's weird, I remember thinking I liked it back in the 90's, but it's so unwatchable and boring now. It's one thing to be slow and build tension, this one is just slow. Part 4, is watchable, but really stupid and pointlessly gorey. I remember liking that one too once upon a time.
  3. Correct. Fox tried to get Fincher to come back to do the Director's Cut for the quadrilogy release, but he turned it down (owing to how much pain the studio gave him during the making of the film). So what is there is really a Producer's/Assembly cut. I always had a hard time understanding this since Fincher worked on Fight Club in '99 for FOX. That movie had a lot risks involved in it alone, to fix any bad blood that might have happened seven years before. But in 2003, Fincher doesn't want to participate in the Alien 3 DVD release. Weird?
  4. I thought the Marvel Superhero Squad had some pretty funny moments of kiddie-adult humor.
  5. I watched Justice League: War yesterday and was very disappointed. I liked it However, I'm starting to think I'm in the minority here... I think you might very well be. I tried to like it, but a lot of things were just too annoying (Shazam), too odd (Superman), poorly written (Wonder Woman) and rushed (action scenes). I would have thought I would automatically have hated the Flashpoint and Arkham because the same type of production values, but they had a lot more substance in them. i also like it but is it the best one out their no Justice League: Throne of Atlantis is my "almost" good movie that I know a lot of people probably will dislike. Same with Superman: Unbound. I thought the first 45 minutes of Doom was great, but watched it slowly unravel into shallow comic book cliches.
  6. They might not be reviewed by a lot of critics, but Under The Red Hood and The Dark Knight Returns Part 1 currently have fresh ratings of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.
  7. Maybe Netflix can continue his "Two Guys and a Girl" TV series, like "Full House?" Probably is his only hope now.

  9. Yeah, it's also located on one of the seasons of the animated 90's Superman Adventures series as a two-parter. I think season two or three has a cool follow-up episode where Superman plays "Batman" (after Bats disappears) and easily defeats most of his rogue gallery. It was called "Nightfall". Did you notice how Bruce Wayne gets properly drawn eyes whilst Clark Kent just has dark spots? Nope.

  11. Still haven't seen that one (not a big fan of a pan&scan tranfer), but I'll look into it soon.
  12. Yeah, Under the Red Hood was pretty good and DKR is still the best animated funnybook movie ever.
  13. I was really enjoying these, but they really hasn't been too many homeruns since Batman: Assault on Arkham. Even the solid ones are somewhat forgettable, as soon as you're done watching them. Maybe the brand is fading. People start threads on individual movies, but no one really reviews them in the end
  14. I've always thought Batman Forever was the guilty pleasure one. You have that campy rescue-the-guard-in-a-vault opening number while being towed by a helicopter, Academy Award-winning Tommy Lee Jones going for every joke trying to upstage Carrey, Val Kilmer endlessly pondering into the camera (when you know he's thinking about what's in the catering wagon), the movie's theme of duality literally beat over your head with every main character except Nicole Kidman's, Nicole Kidman's look on her face throughout this movie that this movie will probably cost her the Oscar nom for "To Die For", the awkward EnVogue (should have been TLC) walk-one that was missing a lady, the street level punks doused in neon, the vague romantic triangle between Bruce, Chase & Edward Nigma that never played out (felt like a vague Fatal Attraction-sans the bunny) and so much more. Batman & Robin was just really bad, full of scenes that went nowhere or just crashed. Schwarzennegger's puns were just headache inducing. It didn't help that he looked like Dynamo from The Running Man either.
  15. Yeah, I forgot about that one. I guess I gave it a pass because of how cute Halle looked. Still pretty unwatchable and a good example of how bad a film can get when ignoring the source material.
  16. Just finished Creed. Excellent movie! A worst comicbook/superhero movie... Batman & Robin Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance Howard The Duck Punisher: War Zone Cowboys & Aliens The Crow: Wicked Prayer Virus Son of the Mask ...to name some that are actually worse.
  17. Also Son of Batman. Might dig up my copy of The Flashpoint Paradox up. That was a good one.
  18. OMG, how many people remember how I thought Kerry Washington would have made a great Lois Lane to Cavill's Superman? There they were at the Oscar's as presenters. Definitely, some kind of chemistry there. Oh, well.
  19. I want to see an action flick, not an oscar winning film I think that was one of many parts of Affleck and partner's deal multi-picture deal, so they could market the product better with his "behind the scenes" involvement as well as in front of the lens.
  20. I love how they closed it with some self-promotion and a slam bordering on self parody.
  21. No Wolverine might affect the box office? I think they established themselves enough of a "brand" by now for the mainstream audience to not rely on Jackman or the Wolverine character.
