I'm not a superhero guy, but this has to be one of the most desirable panel pages extant, right? It's the only page in Wolverine's first cameo appearance, he's not on the 180 cover, and the entirity of his first full appearance burned. Even the key Silver Age first appearances (if they exist) have to compete with the rest of the issue and the cover - this is it for Wolverine.

I'm amazed anyone still cares when it comes out at this point. Just file it away with nonplayer as cool books that may someday come back out.

It actually has never bottomed out at that range. The only sales under $300 occurred during the infancy of CGC, and long before the demand for Harbinger shot the price up to $2500. The past year or so the book has oscillated around $300-350, ending closer to $350. From what I understand, the books he lists are based on the # of bids, not the price. FWIW, the suckers were the ones that bought Harbinger #1 at the highs. There were plenty of HG copies to go around and it was only a matter of time for more to surface. Just like any BA/CA/Modern #1 or key, there will be more highest graded copies on the census over time and that will bring prices back to reality. Actually that particular post had to do with the number of watchers, not the price. I think you are a little strong with your characterization of the supply of high grade Harbinger 1s. Given a book that sold from $2500 down to $350, there are still only about 100 9.8s on the census which has grown very very slowly for a 90's "big money" book. Compare to Batman Adventures 12. Certainly there was little support for a 2500 price given even a slowly growing census count, but it still is a legitimately tough book to grade out at 9.8. It is tougher than other books from that period, but at an estimated 48,000 print run there are plenty of potential 9.8s out there in long boxes and store stock that have not come out to play yet. The question is how many people are willing to pay the $250-$350 for it if the current series fails and there are no movie/tv prospects to inflate prices? When I look at the number of so-so Image books being optioned, I keep wondering if Valiant will ever get something on the big or small screen. Harbinger 1 doesn't have a TON of downside in CGC 9.8 in that price range. It's a relatively tough 9.8, has a very low print run for its era, is a classic book that a lot of people have some nostalgia for, and the characters are back in print for now. Even if the current series died, it's already renewed some interest in the book.

Funny, I totally forgot I sold it to Jon and got it right back. It now resides with a collector who isn't on CAF. I believe he got my Sandman 12 page as well.

I'd call that one a B+ personally. I was never really satisfied with it as my big example. Of course now it looks pretty damn good since I have nothing from the series.

I've certainly never heard anything other than a 500 print run and I've been following the RRP since release. I'm not sure there's any 'definitive' information publically available, but the fact that there are only 196 on the census (including at least 20 copies that were cracked and resubbed for double-SS) seems to back that number up.

That's the print from ECCC 2013. I could be wrong, but I bet it's being used as a fill in until the actual cover is ready.

I'd go for the gold compendium. It's a really well made book. I prefer the gold since it came out first, but really it'd come down to personal preference.

I'd phrase it a little differently - WD 91p22 = OA from the first cameo appearance WD 92 pages = OA from the first full appearance WD 91p22 also happens to be the first time Jesus appears, period, making it super desirable. There's no debating that, but sticking with TBP's Hulk 181 analogy, while the last page of 180 would be THE Wolverine page to have, the 181 pages are still first appearance pages.

Well thanks retro now I feel worse , well there will always be another. Any clue what that page on eBay , from issue 92 will go for? Hopefully a lot.

For $190k? I only have $175k. Need to just sell one more of my nuts, and I'll be ready to buy. Its snowing but not that hard. He's been retired for several years now, but will occasionally take a gig if it's for a friend. Frank Darabont is a buddy, hence this WD promo art. I haven't checked his prices in a while...they've gone up dramatically. I was on his commission list for years...then he announced his retirement and that was that. The prices back then were nowhere near what they are now, but the guy IS a legend...he can ask whatever he wants. Yeah, I remember asking about his 'The Thing' one-sheet art almost a decade ago and couldn't afford it. Now it's over $100K higher. Guess he has to adjust for inflation.
