  1. Thank you for the update. I have a submission at CGC and placed an order with you via the website.
  2. New Mutants #98 Purchased raw in 2011. This book and one other (Wolverine #102.5) were part of a large collection I purchased in 2011. The story isn't exciting beyond that it was a great deal, the guy wanted cash, and he needed it fast. He was getting a divorce and wanted to sell the entire thing in one shot versus have to split everything. I was the first to respond and he held the books until my next day off from work. That's it. I have owned multiple copies of this book throughout the years. My first copy was purchased at Bam! Comics in North Miami for cover price shortly after X-Force #1 was released. The reason? I was hunting down Liefeld Cable books. I took the books to the counter and what occurred was not good. Typical comic store employees start dumping on Liefeld for his art skill and me for liking his style. (Yes, I am in the future and realize they were right...but you don't do that to a young kid / customer) That copy ended up being thrown out all (but one short box of) comics in 2002. Why? Because I wanted room to put up a DVD stand. Yes, I threw out two long boxes of comics to put a DVD stand up. Flash forward 15 years and those DVDs ended up at Goodwill. The circle of media... That's my New Mutants #98 story.
  3. I purchased this copy raw many moons ago to be signed / graded alongside my copy of Parker: A Portfolio of Words and Pictures #2. For some reason I didn't think this copy would grade well. Now, over ten years after my decision CGC has proven me wrong. "Regrets...I've had a few..."
  4. Just arrived back from CGC...the battle the world was waiting for...
  5. Godzilla: King of Monsters - Check NBA Legend Charles Barkley - Check A comic starring both in a battle - Check?
  6. Someone posted this link on reddit. A 'reward' that is 5% of the estimated value and dependent on the arrest of the thieves and the recovery off the books. "Weaver initially estimated the theft of comic books to be worth at least $40,000, police said. Weaver said he has increased his estimate of the stolen material to about $100,000, but police did not immediately confirm the new estimate." "The owner said he is offering a $2,500 reward for any information leading to the arrests of the thieves and another $2,500 for the recovery of the books." https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/northern-virginia/tens-of-thousands-of-dollars-worth-of-comic-books-stolen-store-owner/3161735/
  7. Just finished the first three. I quite enjoyed it. (did know going in that it was a slow-burn to episode 3) What hit me during the show is the realization that the SW I fell in love with is dirty / space worn. There is no sheen here. Also, whilst I appreciate 'the volume' as a filming tool it pales in comparison to the 'lived-in' city set in this show. It especially pays off in the third episode.
  8. How does insurance work in this case? IMO, the reward is...is...something...especially when compared to the current retail value of just the X-Men #1 2.0 alone. No cap, I've seen lost dog rewards hit almost $5k sometimes.
  9. That's a great point. Especially if you find a book with a WIDE upward trend over the previous month. In that case what I do is search active listings to see if the recent 'sale' is an outlier. If it is I then continue using the previous month's data. The toughest part is when you have a book that hasn't popped up for sale ever or within the last 4 years. Whether it is due to scarcity or owning the only one in grade and / or signed. Those are the ones I want appraised / priced the most to insure...
  10. Anyone 'in the know' have a scoop on when the Dini signing is happening now that the submission deadline was last week?
  11. Excellent question. Pulled up September 2019 - 2022. Then I had to filter only books that have remained constant that entire period. (37 out of 50) 2019 to 2020 24.62% increase 2020 to 2021 31.68% increase 2021 to 2022 7.72% decrease 2019 vs 2022 51.43% increase
  12. Two different modern slow boat submissions. Both submissions had the same information. 10 books per box. 20 books total.
  13. 14. Much quicker than the stated 37 days turnaround time... 15. I'd say remove new members and also its obvs the announcements are not being maintained. Unless someone takes the time to post / update / remove the various announcements I'd say that can go too. The ones featured are from 2019 / 2020 / 2021. We all know CGC makes nearly monthly announcements via e-mail or the landing page. Seems like POPULAR NOW and DEALS have an overlap. Is there a way to have the system only have non-selling threads mentioned in Popular Now? And honestly...if none of those changes seem cool...just make it a dynamic webpage where you can choose to close the side column.
  16. This auction has exceed $1k with 19 hours left. https://www.ebay.com/itm/165672474414?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D777008%26algo%3DPERSONAL.TOPIC%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D242151%26meid%3D2658f858eb0e4229b402d16aabef0ab6%26pid%3D101524%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26sd%3D314149178615%26itm%3D165672474414%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057%26algv%3DRecentlyViewedItemsV2&_trksid=p2380057.c101524.m146925&_trkparms=pageci%3A09e9636c-37b2-11ed-bb9f-0a4fb8a8956f|parentrq%3A5325d88d1830a64695687dfffffde950|iid%3A1
  17. Miracleman #1 signed by Gary Leach Purchased already signed / graded in 2022. This is the third book in the Alan Moore mini-collection within my personal collection. A collect-ception if you will. I'll see myself out...
  18. I sent a #340 9.6 newsstand to the last McFarlane signing in 1/2020. It came back a 9.4 even after CCS. I would take back my decision if I could...
  19. My one add-on to this convo as a user with no IT experience. It would be great if a journal could be 'bumped' to the top of the journals page each time there was a new post, like how commend threads do. As it is now, board members end up creating new or tangent journals because even active journals are pages away from the opening page. For example, I write a new post in mine once-a-week but it gets pushed further and further away from opening page with each new journal that may only possess the initial journal post and zero follow-up. It currently resides on the 6th page...
  20. Which should be 'worth' more - The original cover art OR a CGC 10 of an issue?
  21. Thanks for posting the link to mine. It has been therapeutic to sit down and write each week and recall the experiences that shaped my personal collection a book at a time. There is going to be a length write up in about two months or so that details how acquiring my *unicorn* grail resulted in a complete lack of interest in comics (and not being able to be excited about events in real life) for quite some time. Honestly, I'm not even sure any comic related item could bring me joy anymore... That post will stray in to these topics that some other collectors may feel or have felt.
