  1. I've submitted over 500 books over the past 10 years. Only one has ever come back a 9.9 This was in 2012/13 or so. It was a wall book purchased from a LCS. I would swear that in the years since I have submitted comics that 'look' / 'feel' / 'lay' the same as that book and should have graded as a 9.9
  2. As the board member that researched each label ID to provide the grades 'issued' aka 'given' to Black Flag it disturbs me that CGC has retroactively changed the verbiage on those books. Especially as the initial 30 books (10 / 10 / 10) were no longer in their possession. https://boards.cgccomics.com/topic/511154-c2e2-variant-drama/?do=findComment&comment=12458838
  3. So, I've never used Whatnot but I am looking forward to asking Jim Lee (as *current* publisher and CCO of DC Comics) his opinion on how he would have addressed the acetate issue. Specifically, whether he agrees with Marvel or not.
  4. I've got two books tied for lowest grade in my personal collection... Amazing Spider-Man #1 Chamber of Chills #19 The story about my ASM #1 here: https://boards.cgccomics.com/blogs/entry/5287-2022-top-50-aka-my-current-personal-collection/?do=findComment&comment=6120
  5. Exactly. These aren't investments so any price gain is wonderful. That being said, majority of the books in my personal collection were purchased pre 2020 / 21 run up. True. Just thought the upward trend would hold longer. Especially with the positive reviews so far. It's not like mine is leaving my collection nor will it ever fall below my purchase price.
  6. Hi there. Thanks for posting about this out. I've already sent in my original owner copy of Mad Love, but I had a few quick questions after checking out your site. When / where will the Bruce Timm signatures & Amy Memberson signature and remarques occur / be witnessed?
  7. True Counterpoint - One should be able to speak freely to not only celebrate the successes of company, but also address concerns. Whether you have invested in the growth of the company by purchasing their services OR by investing in them directly by purchasing stocks. Personally speaking, as a shareholder in BX, I feel it is my right (and duty) to provide feedback to CGC that does / could directly impact my investment.
  8. For real... The drop in Sandman #1 'value' from announcement to teaser in 2021 to the release of the show in 2022 has been the opposite of a Marvel run up.
  9. Yeah, just search clayton crain cgc on eBay and you can see he has custom labels available that are not tied to signing events. CGC benefits additionally from his signings. They knew these acetate books were created by him. It was a Godfather like favor...
  10. Almost like it could be a conflict of interest when a third party grading company that benefits fiscally from an annual signing with an artist that charges $255 for a signature... Then enters into a direct fiscal agreement to grade *AUGMENTED* comics for this same artist's new comic publishing company...
  11. Continued tracking of my 50 piece personal collection's value for insurance purposes. I am utilizing eBay sold items (with auctions taking priority over buy-it-now) to determine FMV. January to February .40% increase February to March 2.05% increase March to April 4.07% decrease April to May 1.14% decrease May to June .01% decrease June to July 1.83% decrease July to August 3.15% decrease Market vs. July: Spider-Man 129 UP Spider-Man 300 UP Saga 1 RRP DOWN Sandman 1 DOWN
  12. If CGC had just followed their previously established (and still posted) guidelines regarding blue labels... or If any of the leadership (NOT A MESSAGE BOARD MODERATOR) at CGC had just faced the public, admitted they [past tense noun] up, and tried to think beyond the immediate in-flux of cash from some 'new' publisher partner... or If they had learned anything from the [noun] show that happened after the Bad Idea grading... BUT they didn't. They've taken money, bent rules, given gift grades, and were caught doing so. Everyone involved in the decision process from the beginning should be ashamed of themself.
  13. Prices HAVE increased. From the most recent CGC private signing in May. https://boards.cgccomics.com/topic/487345-cgcinhousesignng-a-lot-in-house-signings-pg-numbers-of-signers-and-deadlines-in-1st-post/?do=findComment&comment=12202538 Clayton Crain Classic Signature is $85 per item Clayton Crain Infinity Signature is $115 per item Clayton Crain Infinity Murder Signature is $255 per item
  14. Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #8 signed by John Beatty and Mike Zeck with a sketch by Mike Zeck Purchased raw 1984 / 1985 by my Mom or Dad for me. This is one of only a handful of original owner comics in my personal collection. Words cannot explain how Spider-Man's black costume made my brain snap. Regardless of how people may feel about it, it was amazing to behold. To me it created a dividing line from 'old' Spidey to 'new cool' Spidey. The signature opportunity was handled by Par2ch. All credit must be given to them for coming up with the remarque idea.
  15. Not a fan at all of how it went down originally with Bad Idea, BUT...if they cracked their '9.8' Conceptual Funnies and attached another acetate cover over it then I will give them 'golf clap'.
  16. The 'third annual in-house' private signing just happened in April / May. Pure conjecture on my part, but I believe this is the timeframe that the idea / plan of acetate variants may have been discussed with CGC representatives.* * ANYONE at CGC, please feel free to let me know if the timeline of the grading plan is incorrect. * Also, why is there a $255 signature? https://boards.cgccomics.com/topic/487345-cgcinhousesignng-a-lot-in-house-signings-pg-numbers-of-signers-and-deadlines-in-1st-post/?do=findComment&comment=12202538
  17. So...now that the 'rules' are clearly established, what is the over / under for artists to start using their comps and create 'bespoke' 10 copy runs of covers to sell at a premium. Heck, they can even wait until CGC is at a show and do 1 of 1 Signature Series cover variants now I guess. /s This was a [noun] decision from the beginning until the 'end'. The fact that a company that is valued at HALF A BILLION (with a B) DOLLARS has a message board moderator come out and handle this rather than anyone up the chain... Speaks to the overall character of the leadership team. Bush league.
  18. Agreed. It would be interesting to know of the tier / cost Black Flag publishing paid to have their copies 'graded'. It would also be interesting to learn how much CGC makes from their 'annual' Clayton Crain signings. (which includes a $255 'infinity murder' signature...) Crain also appears to have distinct signature series labels.
  19. Not a lawyer, not your lawyer. I wonder this too, BUT then I would think it would open CGC to discovery to prove the statements are false. Presume that beyond the this fiasco it could allow someone to find out the agreement between CGC and Bad Idea or about their handling of the Promise collection.
  20. I'd like to imagine Matt Nelson and CGC's counsel, Marvel representatives and their counsel... Especially if Bleeding Cool's conjecture as to the content on Ghost Rider #1 acetate cover is correct.
  21. Refresh my memory, but doesn't CGC have legal representation that also posts as a boardee? I'd love to get their thoughts on all of this...if someone could share their board name so we can tag them...
  22. Has anyone posted this yet? https://bleedingcool.com/comics/who-are-infinite-black-of-the-black-flag-comics-acetate-covers/ Quote from the article - But who are Infinite Black who are named on the cover? What's their deal? Infinite Black Publishing is a comic book publisher, but also a design agency, set up by Black Flag Comics and Clayton Crain. Edit for another quote - And yes, keen Bleeding Cool readers will note that Zymotica is the name of the actetate cover intended to be created for Clayton Craine's Ghost Rider #1. for this weekend's Boston Fan Expo, the "Zymotica Vs" variant cover. Might that suggest Black Flag Comics were intending to use their existing retailer exclusive Clayton Crain Ghost Rider cover approved by Marvel, to promote their own intellectual property, created by Clayton Crain, with a bit of acetate on the cover? Might we get Zymotica Vs Ghost Rider? You could see how Marvel Comics might have a problem with that more than the "In God We Intrust" cover.
  23. Take with a grain of salt, but I found this on Wikipedia - 2019-Present The rights to the Tribune name and infrastructure were taken over under a new leadership group of investors that sought to preserve the Newspaper Brand as an independent voice by committing to not allow the paper to fall under a national corporate media conglomerate rule, to date it is one of the few national brands fully independent. I did make a reply on the post which lasted a few minutes, but then I refreshed the page and it was gone. Could not find any mention of the lawsuits beyond this article. Strongly believe it was a 'targeted post' disguised at an editorial. Narcissist playbook to accuse others of what you do.
