  1. Ok, i did a bunch more cleaning today and finally got this all set up and organized in the right place. Its the one thing i LOVE about my "comic room". When Borders went out of business, my store had 4 of these they were selling but 3 were already sold by the time i got there :sorry: I would have KILLED to get all 4!

It was a map display and i got it for like $37 IIRC. The thing is AWESOME!!! The bottom rows will fit about 200 slabs altogether and the top displays will fit about 125. I love this thing! If i just had even 1 more, id be loving life!

Now, i just gotta figure what to do with this mess

Its a total nightmare because like 7 of the boxes are filled with fairly HG SA?BA books in mylars. the mylars are a little too big so the tops of the boxes are pushed up by them and i cant put another box on top of them. I dont know what the hell to do other than buy like 600 new mylars that fit and switch them all out but the thought of that is NOT pleasant! :censored:

  2. So my girlfriend gave me my second anniversary gift! Here it is..(sorry for the crappy iPhone pic)

That's just absolutely awesome, Sir! Very nice, indeedy!

That's the difference between a wife and a girlfriend! Girlfriends BUY you comics to show their love and woo you. Wives person_without_enough_empathy about how much you spend and how much room your comics take up! :sorry:

Take some advice, get all the books on your want list before putting a ring on her finger!!! lol

Like I said, I'm not saying he should get PL for this. Why he made the post he did about prompt shipping is a MAJOR head scratcher though!!!

After this snafu, I'm shocked his post wasn't "OMG!! I'm so sorry guys, invoices will go out ASAP!!!" instead of tellin us how fast he ships! ???

Bingo, the answer was, and is, just apologize sincerely, and take care of business going forward.

For the most part, members here are about as understanding and forgiving as you'll find if you just are sincere and communicate (thumbs u

Why so many sellers/buyers don't take advantage of that fact MUCH more often, I'll never understand ???

  5. Not selling is no different than not paying.

    :applause:

I've had this happen to me at least once since I joined the Boards (and I even did part of the seller's work and sent a PM asking for my invoice...which never arrived), and it's a pain in the @ss: it ties up my money, and keeps me guessing. As a customer, those are two BIG negatives.

My guess, based upon purely circumstantial evidence, is that this is probably more common with higher rolling sellers--or, less likely, with sellers who conduct long, drawn-out sales threads and kinda-sorta understandably lose track of things over time--than it is with plebes who don't have multiple income streams when it comes to unloading their books and could really use the the $$...

    ^^

I have noticed that a BSD is more likely to for some reason set up a sales thread and then act like they dont have to follow thru with it after you hit the :takeit:

    Oh well meh

  6. True, although i dont think thats the buyers responsibility. This came up a little while ago and i'll say the same thing i did then. Buyers hits the :takeit:, seller sends an invoice, buyer pays, it aint rocket science (thumbs u

Seriously though, if a seller sends an invoice and the buyer doesnt pay for over 30 days, does the seller have to send multiple pm's asking for payment? This certainly isnt the worst thing ive seen here but i know how i would feel about buying from this seller from what ive seen and heard.

I think i might be biased as that "we always ship promptly" post still has me annoyed and i dont even have anything to do with the sales thread (shrug)

Also, just to clarify, im not saying Quality SHOULD be on the probie list for this. Im just saying imo, a seller not sending invoices can be probation worthy

  7. I am having a hard time understanding what the issue is with Quality...even reading this thread. Can someone please fill me in in one syllable words. lol.

At any rate....I have one previous purchase with Quality and it was a very positive experience. I know one purchase is a small sample....but it was a good one, so i am certainly more than willing to give him a chance.

I have heard before that Brent at Quality has communication issues. I can relate since it took me a while to get ahold of him with that first purchase (but once I did it worked out well and quickly).

If anyone is having problems with him that are not related to communication I would love to know.

Until then....he has a fan in me.

Edit----Oh, I see. He started a sales thread and didn't follow through. OK. I am less worried. I will definitely keep people on here posted about my recent purchase though, when it is complete.

The books from that thread are all here and ready to be shipped. Everything that is ever paid for via the boards, ebay or QualityComix.com will be shipped and shipped promptly. Check out my feedback on ebay. I hadn't sent out PM invoices but I didn't think that is sufficient to be discussed in a Probation thread.

For some reason I've always had this as one of my "watched" threads, so I suppose I tended to post here more than on some of the others, but I've been trying to be a little more quiet, since someone accused me of being "mean" to his friends a few months ago...and you are one of this person's "friends" ...so please don't take the following as any attempt to be "mean".. There are just a few things, I'd like to bring up as a member here.

    1. There were at least 2 other incidents where your name was brought up here for not mailing books on time. Possibly 3, I don't remember.

    2. I don't understand the point of having a sales thread and not invoicing people, it's part of the accepted way of doing business here.

    3. Yes, the seller has responsibilities too, not just the buyer. Even if money has not changed hands, the buyer should be treated with respect.

and this part is just my opinion.

I'm not quite sure why you made the statement above, at the very least an apology and explanation (if you had a problem getting the invoices out) would seem to be appropriate. Things happen, but brushing the incident off, seems kind of rude.

    +1

For some reason, that response REALLY rubbed me the wrong way! To leave people hanging without sending out invoices for well over 30 days and then come on here and state how "prompt" your shipping is as soon as someone "pays" , I just don't get for the life of me ???

I'll ask again, when exactly were you planning on invoicing people that thought they were buying books in early April??? That just strikes me as incredibly rude to your buyers. At the very least they deserve apologies and IMMEDIATE invoices, not statements about how prompt your shipping is! rantrant

Agreed. Brent you seem to have many friends in the hobby and I get the impression that you're honest but you seem to have problems completing your sales transactions on time. I don't see it as probation worthy since money hasn't changed hands but I appreciate hearing about it and I'm sure many others do also.

    And Brent, your apology sucks

Others may disagree, but personally, i do DEFINITELY see this as probation worthy. When a buyer doesnt pay, no money changes hands but they get put on the Probie list for leaving the seller hanging when he was expecting payment. I dont see how this is any different. Buyer hitting the :takeit:, are expecting to be able to buy the books theyve chosen. They commit to buy and im sure then pass up opportunities to buy the same books elsewhere. When a seller then just completely ignores them and doesnt even bother to send out an invoice, to me, that is certainly probation worthy.

I just dont see any difference whatsoever between what he has done and a buyer who refuses to send payment after being invoiced. he has a commitment to sell to buyers just like buyers have a commitment to pay (shrug)

  8. I'm almost ashamed to post pics with the INSANE, AMAZING comic rooms you guys have. This my den which over the last 4-5 years, my wife has literally filled to the roof with hers and the kids .

Hard to believe, but it took me about 30 hours over the last month and 2 bulk pickups to even clear it enough that now you can walk around and theres actually spare room. A few more weeks a one more bulk garbage day and i'll actually be able to hang the stuff that needs hanging on the wall!

Problem is, i have a BUNCH of framed football jersey and other Cowboys/Syracuse plaques, pictures etc to hang so not sure what to do with them. I might find another part of the house to put them up so this can FINALLY be a true "comic room"

Like i said, its LAME AS HELL compared to what you guys have, , but since ive put so many hours into cleaning it up, heres the pics of what ive got so far (shrug)

Doesn't look lame to me. Besides, it's not the colour of the curtains that counts, it's the quality of the books and you win on that front. Also, there's nothing wrong with mixing other hobbies into the room, that's what makes it uniquely yours.

So go ahead, hang up your football jerseys and glee memorabilia.

Oh mess!!! Who told you!!!

    lol

  9. The only thing lame as hell about that is being a COWBOYS FAN

Besides being a fan of my least favorite team in the world, you have an awesome looking clean set up man, be proud to show it off!!!!!

(tsk) C'mon, like they haven't punished me enough the last 15 years?!?!?!?

When I get all my Aikman, Emmitt,Romo signed jerseys finally hung, I'll make sure to pm you a sweet pic!!! :baiting:lol

I often think when I look at all the book shelfs and such, that an earthquake would really really suck for some of you.

Yeah, not many earthquakes here in Florida! floods or hurricanes are definitely a worry! :o

  13. Nothing lame about that set up. Love the bookcase. Ya gotta showcase that Avengers splash though. Don't hide it. lol

    lol

    Thanks!

Obviously, thats just a $70 recreation and not the actual OA. Once i get the room totally in order, ill probably find a better place to hang it but for now, i just wanted it off the floor and clutter and visible :cloud9:

On December 19, 2008 I sent $145 to mjacobs8 for two Avengers comics I purchased here on the boards. Michael posted fairly often at that time and I had had successful transactions with him in the past. In this case he flaked on the deal with me and some others and disappeared from the boards. djpinkpanther67 tried to contact him in person but he was nowhere to be found. Suddenly today I received a $150 repayment from him, 3.5 years later! He apologized, regreted his actions and hoped he hadn't caused me any hardship. As you might expect, I pretty surprised. I guess if you have faith things can work out. Michael, I appreciate you squaring things up after I had already forgotten the incident. :applause:

    Mike

    WOW!!!

Thats like christmas in May!!! :applause:

  16. Yeah, in my book you have ZERO obligation to buy them now since the seller never bothered to invoice you in well over 30 days (thumbs u

For him to come here and act like all is fine and they're read to go is I'm sorry, a little :screwy:

Ps- robojo has 100% feedback as well, doesn't make him a good seller. I'm not saying you're robojo but you dropped the ball bigtime on this sales thread IMO. An apology would be more appropriate than indignation (shrug)

  17. Yep, and I believe the intent of probation lists are for a) buyers who don't pay on time or b) sellers who don't ship books after being paid.

Then what would you propose for a seller that sets up a sales thread, has buyers hit the :takeit: and then the seller just acts like the thread never happened???

How is a buyer not paying on time any different than a seller not responding to the :takeit: and not sending invoices or responding for well over 30 days? Seems like the EXACT same thing to me??? (shrug)

If buyers hit the :takeit: on APRIL 11TH, when exactly were you planning on sending invoices considering its now May 15th?

  18. Also added an Avengers #2 to my main collection focus my Avengers 1-200 run. Not a bad copy.

That A2 looks better then 7.5. Very Nice.

    +1 (worship)

Either that has a MAJOR back cover defect or there is some tanning inside there at the bottom cus that copy presents like a 9.0 minimum. Thats an awesome book! (worship)

Definitely jealous! I've been trying to get a nice #2 for a year and every problem under the sun has kept me from getting each copy i've found! I'm either cursed and am never getting one or the comic gods are planning to drop an amazing one in my lap :wishluck:
