  1. How would you guys handle this: Had someone offer on a book, I accepted it. About 5 days later after I re-prompted with a second invoice I get an msg saying he has no money and hopes I don't force him to pay. I reply I can't force him to pay and open up a non paying bidder to get my fees back, he then pays quickly and sends me a novel about how him not having money isn't my problem and he does want the book so he paid. I don't want to be the guy that makes someone eat KD so I sent him a msg saying exactly that and just opened the case to get my FVF back if he doesn't want it he will have to cancel it on his end. I haven't heard back and that was 48hrs ago...Do I ship the book? If no how long do I wait?
  2. That's pretty lucky; I had two raw copies I thought had a shot at 9.8. I guess I had the bad luck of sending them in on a day when the grading was tough, because they both came back 9.6... Sorry I didn't sub those copies. Both just passed through my hands. Probably like most books didn't realize the poor manufacturing and softened up on them
  3. I guess my chances of upgrading get slimmer and slimmer as the months progress. Nice sale! https://www.pedigreecomics.com/auction-detail.php?issue_id=54234 gnarly tape pull on as nice 5.0 that I will ever see
  4. I had 2 copies come into my possession. Neither looked like a 9.8 but both were graded as such.
  5. That may be so, but consider that interest in Detective 225 has only recently peaked (because of the appearances of MM on TV and so forth) It's likely people have been submitting all the other books (including Showcase 4's) at a higher rate, over a longer time period than Detective 225s. I bet there's been a spike in Detective 225 submissions since the renewed interest in MM. Between September and today has been 10 copies added to the census, of which the highest copy was a 5.0 (so nothing major for a CPR game). In the same time SC4 has added 9 copies in which one copy went from a 8.0 to an 8.5 (+1 in 8.5, census lost an 8.0 so highly probable of a CPR) and then the next highest was a 4.5 added. BB28 has added 44 copies to the census, highest being an 8.0 and the majority of the books being added in the VG range
  6. When you are working in entry level jobs, you shouldn't have a personality. You don't like something, just suck it up. I don't like that mentality I know a job like that isn't fun but I don't want to dread it either. Rodan's right...if you're working an entry-level job and you come across something/someone you don't like, the answer is not to "clash" with the roadblock, rather use it as a motivation to work harder and either get promoted out of your position or earn enough experience to get a better position elsewhere. You're letting pride get in your way. As a result, you're not a victim of society. You're consciously choosing to be unemployed. Attitudes can be tough to change. If you want to succeed, you'll need to change yours. This might sound like I'm an old fuddy duddy, but today's young people want to to have it all without working for it. Let me tell you I had to work anything while I was putting myself through college. I worked in a donut shop graveyard making donuts all night, as soon as I finished my shift at 8:00 AM I went straight to school for 6 hours. Studying after school, and getting a couple hours of sleep before rinsing \repeating. You have to earn your stripes in life,if you get a crappy job, swallow your pride and work towards a better goal, your plan of attack if you will. If you don't set your goals early in life, your life will be nothing but hard, living paycheck to paycheck. That's no way to live. I have no pitty for people who don't want to work hard for what they want. If a bum like me can do it,so can you. Just make a life plan, and stick to it. You should open a donut shop...call it double D's or D Holes
  7. How can they make any money selling books at a dime? By the time you get the books in, sorta price, print labels, pay to check someone out etc
  8. +1 The Hulk is certainly far more ingrained in pop culture than the Flash. The new show is obviously doing a lot to help but it is airing on a third rate network. Crossing over to supergirl seems more designed to help that struggling show than the Flash. Hopefully people will follow him back to his own show on the CW. I do wish they would use the same actor for the movies as the show. The different actor might throw some people off (especially if he sucks). We'll just have to wait and see on that. Not saying showcase 4 won't ever be the "#2" book. But I do seem to notice a certain price resistance at some levels that I do not see with hulk 1. Hulk 1 has obviously cooled in some mid grades the last few months. But that is likely the calm before the storm. The more I see about the third Thor movie the more it looks like Planet Hulk. -J. congrats on the consistency!!
  9. So because an ultra high grade copy hasn't been put out to the public market its not number 2...seems like a terrible qualifier in terms of which book is number 2.. Anymore "terrible" than declaring it the "#2" book based solely on three or four sales in low to mid grade on GPA last year ? -J. Ya I guess when a book outperforms the other book in all grades from 0.5 to 6.0 (to which only have sales) no claim can be made. Those are the only data points on GPA. I'm sure you can dig around in GSB and see some of the other sales that also indicate that this book has moved ahead of IH1. Such as this one: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Board=78&Number=9126076&Searchpage=4&Main=399439&Words=showcase&topic=0&Search=true#Post9126076 Call me crazy but I don't think the seller took around 8000 (which is around where a IH1 is trending). http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=398049&Number=9088638#Post9088638 Another sale on the boards here. Do I think NS took 10k when his asking price is 13.5 not a chance.
  10. While this is true, it is not enforced universally across all post offices. Some don't care, (they never ask if what you're sending is comics) some do. Use Media Mail at your own risk. And be prepared if you do to screw the buyer over when the post office says here is a new bill that you need to pay.

  12. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=8901197&fpart=1 That's the book IIRC so I guess we see if its a 50k, 65, or 85k book. I know you do. I prefer Hulk over the AF15 cause I like the chase rather than being able to click Bin on eBay.
  13. Hey Eric! What kinda chronic is that you're smoking in Canada? Hulk is still #2 SA book behind AF #15! Its not legal here...Yet. JT is working on that. Market has spoken Sales for SC4 much less often, but think we can both agree they are all higher All you need is a prescription for the glaucoma if you can't see that IH #1 smash SC4!. How about for high grade copies of SC4? Though many don't come to market that often. That's all he can do. Hulk smash Don't think there has been a public offering of a high grade SC4... http://www.comicconnect.com/bookDetail.php?id=650475 (will be fun to watch)

  15. Not to this book directly but was discussed a fair amount in this thread. I think its been trimmed down but: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=9068016&fpart=1
  16. The last 6.0 was high 20s. Sc4 owns the hulk for #2
  17. Will CGC send you tracking? No. However, if you select UPS shipping (and sign up for a free UPS My Choice Membership), UPS will send you tracking information on your package. Is the similar true for Fedex? If so mind pming/posting how to do that?
