  1. Bob, don't let Jaydog and his shenanigans frustrate you (I think that's 3/4 of what he wants). what's funniest about this whole page quality conversation (white vs other PQs) is that BB28 is the worst book to argue against the point that that PQ influences value. That's because there's only a few (maybe as low as 2) white page copies on the census. one is your 7.5 and the only other I know of is the 4.0 that I used to own. That 7.5 white pages copy at auction would sell for more than any 7.5, period. And yes, there are many different kinds of preferences out there - Drbanner just made this point but I'll reinforce.....some people will pay more for a book with no writing, some with no marvel chipping, etc. etc......but when page quality is considered as a preference, NOONE wants a book with lower page quality. Higher PQ books will attract a higher price all else equal -- AND IT DOESN'T MATTER THAT ALL ELSE ISN'T OFTEN EQUAL. That's how rates of change are calculated in everything around us. cheers joey ...except when they don't and "all else" is never equal, and yes that makes all the difference in the world in fact. What you are basically saying is the the "PQ" on the label is the #1 consideration for everybody when making a buying decision. Sorry, but that is both presumptuous and flat out wrong. Shall I introduce examples of B&B 28 when it didn't happen ? Just say the word. I'm ready. -J. Jaydog, what exactly is your modus operandi here? While I think you are basically an avid collector and good guy, you are starting to come across as a raving maniac. I just don't think anyone concurs with your observations, yet you keep badgering. What are you trying to accomplish ? I have already conceded. You win. YOU WIN. Now, can we all go back to playing nice ? Again, I have no MO, and I don't need anyone to "concur" with me. The data concurs with me and that is good enough for me. (thumbs u My only quibble is with some of the broad, grand, sweeping statements that continue to be made on the subject, that are unsupported by actual sales trends. -J. PS: I always play nice. There is no grading factor that matters, for every piece of sales data there will be something that refutes it. Tape, chipping, writing, pq, wrap. You have been given sales data from several dealers who had two almost identical books (we are talking about things that can't be identical) in which the one with a better PQ either sold faster or at a premium. Of course there will be exceptions. Life has exceptions. Y is not a vowel, EXCEPT when it is. All materials can go through the state changes (solid, liquid, gas)...well EXCEPT for things like Dry ice. Now shall we take data and skew it to look how we want it to? Sure the average person has 1 ovary. Does that mean if you cut an individual up you will find only 1? Nope but there are STATS to back up a claim.
  2. Planning on being on your knees for a while huh? How do you think he paid for the trip?
  3. Received 05/01/15 Verified 05/18/15. Scheduled for grading 05/21/15 Am I reading your time table right? The books were received by CGC on May 1st, for a modern slow track and already at SFG? How the hell did you manage that? this can't be right. Someone has some 'splaining to do. My 4/22 MST isn't even Verified yet Nor is my April 13th.

  5. Using three recent examples, there is a bit of a discount on the lower page quality books: Greg's 4.0 copy sold at $3900 with slightly brittle pages: http://www.gregreececomics.com/Comics/BRAVE_AND_THE_BOLD_28_CGC_4_0_SB_PAGES There was a recent sale on eBay for a 3.5 with C-OW for $3750. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Brave-The-Bold-28-1st-Justice-League-of-America-CGC-3-5-CREAM-OW-Pgs-/311355831454?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item487e40f49e According to GPA, the most recent 4.0 sale of $4327 was for an OW-W copy in March (2 months ago and before the recent price run up - that is looking like a good deal now). My guess is that the 4.0 with OW-W would sell for closer to $5000, possibly more, in the current market due to the page quality. You are wasting your time with him. You can try, Rick tried, I have tried, others have tried. He won't budge on it. So in other news Flash ended yesterday and some really fun events! You're right. I won't budge because it is non existent. Please ask me to pull out some data points for this book in grade. Just ask me. You know they're there. And you know they will (once again) disprove the existence of any "premium" or "discount" either way. It's such an easy myth to debunk with publicly available data points. Anytime you want. Just ask. I'm ready. (thumbs u -J. Just like I can find points where Marvel Chipping sold for more than a book without. A book with tape sold for more than a book without. A book in a 4.0 sold for more than a 4.5. Once again nothing matters as I can find data points to support any claim.

  7. It has been over 72 hours. With all do respect, this guy never had any leg to stand on. He not only didn't reply, he tried to evade at all costs, deleting messages, changing his name, and deleting himself from our pm thread. He deserves the probation list at all costs. I've never had a problem like this, and hope no other boardie has to go through this. My money has been refunded fortunately. He did not reply at all to paypal as well. I suppose we all know why he had paypal issues. I will not publicly post his/her info, but I will provide any info I can through pm to ensure he doesn't scam again. Thank you to all the boardies who supported me in this thread or through pm. I love being a part of this community. Actually, you certainly SHOULD publically post his full name/address so if he tried to sell under a different account (or on ebay), we can all know to avoid him. He is a thief, there is no reason to not fully expose him for what he is. NO You have no idea what lurks in the heart of some men..... Ya we should add all the personal information to all of the ppls on the PL/HOS list including their bank account numbers, what their favourite food is and what they read when taking a poop.
  8. That's a bit ridiculous Personally I don't touch reserve auctions as they are 99% of the time a waste. If you don't want to sell it for less than x start it at x
  9. Not surprising. Auctions with Reserves seldom do well. No reflection at all on BB28. Agreed normally a waste of time to bid less they state their reserve in the listing. That one bidder did look mighty suspicious
  10. 7.0 went unsold at 10.4 (reserve not met) this evening.
  11. Oh wow that is great. Are they bringing it to you to see in person
  12. Good story (from the minor bit I have read). 3 first appearances (1 of which is a female which seems to be doing well). Not many books have 3 first appearances. In which characters could evolve. Low print run for a Marvel book.
  13. Well all of the Comic Mylar ones have been repriced since I pointed out they were below what the new pricing structure was.
  14. I haven't read a ton of Star Wars but picked up issue 3 and 4 to see what it was like. I enjoyed it. I think I will grab the trades when they come around.
  15. While I have no doubt that the seller has popped smoke and has no intention of completing the sale, I believe, per the letter of the law, he still has until the 30 days are up before he can be nominated to the PL. This was my thought too, exactly. Not if they are openly saying not following through. Several times npb have said not paying and been nominated before 30 days.
  16. Someone got bid happy on the SC4 on ebay.
  17. First one is the same (not sure if on the boards but seen them list on their website). Think you are reading into this way more than I was implying, I was simply pointing out that some lower grade books have sold.

  19. Looks like another few just disappeared from ebay for being "no longer available".
  20. And I understand your point as well. I've believed in 'never say never' since my teenage years...but I made that statement with the point being that as far as trends are concerned one will 'never' pass the other...meaning you could have a 'one off' where one book sells for a higher price than the other but it's an outlier. Like when a book that will press up a grade or two breaks a record. The only reason the book is breaking the record is because it's in the wrong grade to begin with. Yes, I realize DC could buy Marvel and drive Spidey into the ground in order to make the Flash their flagship character and then SC #4 will overtake AF #15 and I would eat my 'never', but this is a very unlikely scenario. Oh I totally know what your saying, and agree that it would be very very very unlikely that SC4 constantly sells over AF15. However correct me if I am wrong (way to young to be involved in the keys years ago), did SC4 not outperform AF15 for a number of years (until Spider-man took the big spotlight and pumped out like Deadpool is now)?
  21. Before agreeing that one book has passed another I'd need to see a trend, not just a few sales. That's one of the problems with the internet and GPA data, people don't have the patience to see where the chips are actually falling. They just assume every new data point is the new value. Again, remember you couldn't give away an All Star #8 or a More Fun #73 just a couple of years ago. This movie craze has no real logic to it. But again, I'd need to see a trend of several books in several grades before coming to a final conclusion. And as far as the Hulk #1 / AF #15 discussion that happened a few months ago on here, did Hulk #1 surpass AF #15? No, AF #15 just pushed up higher. In my opinion that same thing will happen if SC #4 continues to heat up - it won't surpass other books it will just push them up. Personally, I'm not a fan of all this movie hype. Oh, and for disclosure I don't own any of these books being discussed at the moment. Oh I agree and I don't see the prices staying where they are ASC/MFC. But to make a claim that a book will NEVER pass another book is a stupid comment (not calling you or anyone saying that it can't pass AF15 stupid, but only siths deal in absolutes) .
  22. Likely because it has increased so much more dramatically in value. -J. No, ...because a. there are so many of them...and b...because he was always kind of whiney;) (sorry;) My showcase went up 10 times from what I paid for it;) The AF15, not quite so much Of course that all depends on when you bought, the deal you negotiated, which grade, etc. I purchased an AF 15 and a showcase 4 at about the same time. On the AF 15 I have over $15k I'm equity now. In the showcase 4, about $4k. The percentage increase in the showcase was more, but in an actual dollars and cents analysis, the AF 15 nearly quadruples the showcase. It's just not even close. -J. Curious to more details on that. If you bought them at "around the same time" and the AF15 is worth 15k, and the showcase 4 is only worth 4k you didn't spend nearly the same amount on them. If the showcase 4 has gone up more in a % way more than the AF15 if you initially invested the same amount in each one wouldn't the Showcase 4 be the winner....
