This exact scenario happened to me two or three times last year with two dealers. It has caused me to lose nearly all faith in a lot of comic art dealers and is why I've been buying directly from collectors on CAF, instead of off a dealer's website. Sad truth. Happens all too much in this hobby.

I was confused when I read the initial post as it seemed like there was more than just what was posted that was going on. My take on the post was that Mitch and Lynn felt Metropolis was doing something wrong. The first question that ran through my mind was "why is this on a public forum and not being handled via direct communication?"

Fun idea. I don’t follow most of this art but I am willing to venture a few guesses. I agree with the notion that less is more – 10 or less seems to be about right if you want to maximize participation. I question the notion of closest without going over. So a prediction that is $1 higher than the hammer price is not better than the next closest which might be $1,000 under?

The F&F book is a great read, agreed! I had a shot at a Sal Avangers page early in my Sal quest and made the wrong call and did not buy it. A major collecting regret.
