Conversely, that’s actually what I HATE about bargain bin diving, is how ugly and sticky and gross all of the books feel in their old plastics, smashed together with years of abuse… peeling the plastics apart from all the heat and overstuffing… wondering if the book trapped inside could even survive the ordeal. I hate gross books

     🤮

Indeed. I've been going to comic fairs and shops for 40+ years and in all that time it still hasn't occurred to most dealers to not overstuff their boxes and to not - and this is a pet hate - put them two deep on a table so you have to break your back reaching over to see what's in the one furthest from you.

....aaaaaaaaaaaaand this is why I still find great books hidden away, ripe for the picking... ;)

It seems this is a let's-bring-in-all-the-old-characters-and-actors multiverse retread. I hope this is the last multiverse movie. More than that, I hope it ends the MCU and gives us a fresh start segue into the future of Disney's Marvel movies.

This part I agree with completely.  It always makes a mess and it absolutely did with the MCU.  The only exception I'd make is with Marvel Zombies.  The way it was handled in UFF was pretty good, and I'd welcome them coming in from another dimension (and not necessarily another timeline).

I"d peg #167, the return from space to earth and meeting the New Mutants  to be the true leveling of the run before the onset of diminishing returns. It's the perfect jumping off point and my nostalgia for the run thereon is almost non-existent.

Yep, I'd been reading UXM since 1982 and for me the title pretty much doesn't even exist for me after 175.  So funny how that went.

    Nice SW4!

The SW 4 was actually left behind...it was maybe an 8.0 with all the spine ticks.

 another OO of mine and for the life of me it had no tattoos as I would have never removed them.

And this has also been discussed here in that I as well bought these issues off the rack and I never saw any Tattooz either in these books.

Exactly. LCS bins are full of mid through HG copies of common issues that everyone passes on. It is only certain keys that are really worth chasing now.

I'm glad people are passing up those books...I think the really high grade copies of the common books will rise in value well above the regular copies.  Don't get me wrong, we're talking about a CPV being double the value and it still selling for $20-$30.  What's fun is I'll have picked up the book for only $3...I'd make a good profit margin (even though selling a book would barely pat for a supper out ;) ).  I also get to give a clear mission to keep the girl busy at cons or when I visit a random LCS ;)

I also always enjoyed the storyline up to and including 150 (plus it has a great cover).  I always felt it started to slide a bit after that (brood was boring and drawn out).  MTU is a fun read and not too hard on the wallet. Congrats!

Totally disagree here!  The Brood Saga was one of the best storylines overall in the X-Men and in the 80s overall!  Funny as well that in all the X-'en discussion threads over the years, it's been unulateral that UXM jumped the shark with 176...it was never as good after that and most longtine readers say the same thing if asked the question.
