  1. I knew there was a Marvel Tales reprint (#208 I think), but I just came across this U.K. reprint from '80 I believe. They really milked this cover for all it's worth. For those that have never read it there's actually a Clark Kent cameo in this issue.
  2. This is really sharp. I <3 pence copies. Thanks! There's just a hairline color break about 1/2 way down the spine. Weird because there's no stress there. Just the color break. It's the only reason I haven't had it graded. Other than that it really looks much better than my U.S. CGC 9.8 copy. Especially the corners, gloss and colors. About as perfect a raw copy as I'll ever find. Pence or otherwise.
  3. Yeah, that's pretty awesome. I bet if it wasn't for that "5" on the back cover it would be a 9.8.
  4. The Dead Sonja is cool, but I like this one better. One of Frank Thorne's best covers.
  5. Yeah, he sure can draw 'em. It's odd, but I don't own a single Budd Root cover. I do have a Jay Co. Convention Ltd. Ed. Exclusive Cavewoman Nude cover, but I think it was done by Emily Warren. Pretty cool book of Budd's pin up art on every page. Rather risque to say the least.
  6. Here it is again just for gits and shiggles.
  7. Yeah, MICK64 said it was hard to find any NM or better raw copies in the U.K., and even then the ones you do find are not worth grading. He said a 9.8 was out of the question. So I guess I really got lucky with my Pence Marvel Team-Up #79. eBay Canada probably doesn't show listings when the seller only ships to U.S. Which was the case with the Marvel Feature Vol. 2 #4. Anyway, I would rather have spent my money on one of the higher grade copies.
  8. I actually bid on that one. Started at $43.00 and sat there for a whole week. Then in the last minute a bid popped up. I put in the $50.01, but the first bidder's bid was higher. They almost got it for $43.00. It's only one higher than the lowest graded copy at 8.0 So I wasn't too bothered by losing the auction. I figured if no one else was going for it I might as well, but someone else wanted it too. I thought it was you, Gyro. I think Comic Connect still has a raw one. Not sure of the grade though.
  9. That's pretty awesome, no matter what Gyro says about you!
  10. Good deal. Be sure to post us a pic when you get it back.
  11. Original art for David Michael Beck's Red Sonja #24 is for sale. $1,100.00.
  12. Very nice! Are you going to have it graded?
  13. It's an homage. Both covers are done by Romita. The #190 X-Men has Kulan Gath exacting his revenge on Spider-Man for what he and Red Sonja did to him in Marvel Team-Up #79. Uses a spell to turn Manhattan into a barbarian world where the X-Men and Avengers have no memory of the present. He leaves Spider-Man's memory intact as punishment, and has him hunted by his mindless slaves. I think the story arc starts on issue #189 and ends in #191. Many heroes die, including Spider-Man, but Dr. Strange uses a spell to bring reality back in time to the moment before Kulan Gath appears. At the time Dr. Strange doesn't know it, but what he's done brings Nimrod to their timeline. So I think Nimrod's first appearance is X-Men #191. My question is why Red Sonja doesn't have an appearance in any of this? Oh, I should mention that in the Dynamite Red Sonja series Kulan Gath makes his first appearance in issue #12.
  14. See any similarities between these two covers?
  15. New Red Sonja mini-series, Red Sonja: Unchained comes out this week.
  16. Yeah, they were way over priced anyway. I tried to get a raw Dynamite Red Sonja #2 RRP the other night off eBay, but got beat out in the last moments. It was a nice copy too. Ended up in someone else's hands for $26.00. Yikes! Seller should thank me because it would have been for $12.71 otherwise. Glad I could help out.
  17. I just want the comic! Yeah, me too. There are red and gold foil versions. Only 300 copies of the gold.
  18. Check this out. The original art for Red Sonja #19 by The great Frank Brunner is for sale too. Only $3,995.00!
  19. They wanted $10,000.00 when it was on eBay.
  20. The #8 is nice. I actually need that one too, but I'm not sure it would get a 9.8 with that lower staple. One of the nicer raw copies I've seen though. Post some pics of those price variant Red Sonja covers.
  21. You like pouring salt on the wound, don't you? Still kicking myself over that auction.
