  1. Broke $11,600,000 my prediction with over 300 lots to go...could hit 12M
  2. Cracked over $11,000,0000 with 600 plus lots to go...prediction is $11,600,000 final total
  3. I agree SDCC does not care about true comic book collectors, however they do care about one thing the all mighty $$ and who will pay the most money for a table, SDCC still has the rep worldwide, and it does have the possibly of getting better or possibly bigger if the convention center ever expands, I purchased a few books from an old time collector that I knew and my budget is almost done for the year, I will make SDCC, and possibly one other show, as you might know, I collect in other fields such as illustration art/pin-up that tends to distract me from attending more shows. I will be for sure at Terrys next show with the provision that I have $$ and have not spent them.
  4. The revolution is here, we just need to support and get the word out, so we can take back what we started. You don't have be out $10,000.00 for a table, hotel, flight etc to sell to true comic book collectors anymore, bigger is not better, and not necessary, Terry's one day Ca con is a result of SDCC indifference and going for the Big buck...and when you are in the smaller con...there actually more collectors there, so what about 130,000 attendee's. If necessary, expand the SDCC to Tuesday-Sun, eliminate preview night go back in the data bass and comic book dealers or their own list of previous attendee's have a say for ONE day...special comic book collectors day, that is a way back to US. Once SDCC gets wind that we do have some power, they take notice, Support your local shows might be the answer.
  5. Bud is going into GA/SA back issue and out of print comic/art books...with a lot of history, an icon
  6. My heart says that Wondercon is the best con in the world, not too big and not too small, just right, 10 years from now who knows...SDCC is still in terms of heavyweights the "King" in my book, now of course each year the trend away from the people who created it and dont get me wrong, we had Frank Capra the famous director at a early SDCC that I remember, we always we a little different than the rest on this show.....my head says it is still SDCC
  7. Tickets are impossible and not given on the basis of prior attendance but by a lottery.....so I understand Bud's clients getting shut out...shows like Terry's of La, the real shows for collectors are supported by 90% true collectors...a problem is that what is being replaced for Bud Plants table is not comic or book related...we are slowly being shut out.
  8. It makes Terry Stroud the last man standing...I thnik he has done every show, including #1
  9. According to the "Times of San Diego" article and Bud Plants Facebook page--he is done...1970-2017...Amazon got him.. SDCC did not let in the real comic book collectors....He is still going to do little shows, but it's OVER...Folks, and I hate to say this....the SDCC Ain't what it used be...... Mile high said some interesting stuff also in the article about SDCC...Dylan said it best...the "times they are a changing" Thank you Bud for all the great books and browse time your booth gave me.
  10. strong legs on this auction, it cracked 10 million today with one day left...could hit 11 million by the time its over since its at over 10.8 with one day to go
  11. In you opinion, what is the real story behind the lawsuit? just an opinion,...in the most recent HA auction which took place today, there was little if any of the other guys books compared to CGC , why prevent them from merging with Beckett, seems like a better chance to me to settle the suit with a bigger fish.....and this " SPECIAL" deal...to me it seems....well, compromised in terms of what is going here and in fairness to the general public. If I had to guess, myself, CC/Mero might have had a option to purchase some or all of the other guy....and that is why they are so upset...again, nothing personal, but I would never use the "other" guy for just these reasons and the unfairness to CC/Metro.
  12. When you factor in Ha's weekly auctions which was was around 25 million or more with weekly auctions at 500K a week an I believe that 2017 was a record year for them , , But this was flat out amazing over 8.36 million in day, that is buying power, it will be interesting to see the final total...maybe tommow's original art will be a bargain prices, we have seen GREAT success in the WHALE auction concept. It was over 6 million for just 90 lots and it spills over, look for CC or CL to copy the Ha's lead in creating "whale" auctions...which put those pieces in a "highlight 3D catalog
  13. $8,368,982.00 in a single day....with two days to go this auction should break $10,000,000 .00 we have come a long way, here in comic book fandom
  14. Cracked $8,000,000 with more lots to go...WOW
  15. $6,440.692...AMAZING for 90 Lots ( one was withdrawn)...has to be be some kind of record with second auction coming up.....
  16. Amazing auction...going 6 million early on...JLA#1 9.6..0ver 200K..WOW..could be 8 million by the end of day one
  17. anyone still have a second edition, the CGC was just a couple of years old at that time, did CGC make any comments about grading in that edition, did they agree with bob over street?..be interesting see what was said.
  18. its a big auction, there will be a few items "lost", give it your best shot
  19. this is a really high quality auction, I will be watching Cindy #23 MH double cover , FC9 Flash Gordon( always liked that book, great covers) MH 9.6 and the Love Tales 36 which took over from human torch 35, MH 9.6 photo cover, great material..good luck everybody..
  20. Looking for a home, to a true collector...it just takes one, I don't know how rare original Star Ranger art is or how collectable it is, but HA has an original art page 1 to Star Ranger #6 1937 at only $110.00 it might make a great addition to your collection at a super price. It a Wild West Junior page by Charles Biro...this is the type of art that gets lost among the 1600 plus items.
  21. My Top 3 in this auciton 1-Jetta #6 Mile High..WHITE PAGES....Overstreet is way off on this one price wise and always has been, this is the best one I have ever seen, a true classic comic book, forget the guide, its worth easy $2500 if not more 2-Star Ranger Funnies 9.8 WHITE PAGES Mile High 1938...even if you bought it with a time machine, its not gonna get better...for those who want a "example" of a gerber "scarce" in impossible condition and want a Centaur...well this is it, a highlight of any collection, once in a lifetime for that book. 3-Smash #42 9.4 MH, First Lady Luck, what a great classic cover/issue..highest graded.
  22. and that is another main issue with any grading service, what if the white paged book CGC'ed 10 years ago or more, there could be some type of paper change which might slightly occur. I think that the "mile high books" price factor has always had page quality into the high demand, Overstreet really did not address in terms of price which amount of value is added for white pages or pages which are damaged by time. Would it be safe to day it adds 20% to value with white pages, the most recent think that comes to mind was the "white pages" action 1 which was sold on Ebay, they looked at the pages in dark room if I recall on a video..never underestimate the power of "white pages". It appears that white pages has little factor on condition of the cover of the book which is the main grading focus.
