  1. Same thing happened to me with Batman 4, although the price in the secondary market does seem a little higher, no idea why though, what am I missing?
  2. Oh and welcome to the boards SpideySenseTingle (thumbs u
  3. I've almost forgotten what I subbed It'll be a nice surprise when they finally turn up
  4. I bought it on a whim and enjoyed it. Nice whimsical change of pace from the usual run of the mill modern books. Good book to read and then pass on to your kids to read.
  5. Yah, but Magic the Gathering is for nerds, comics are cool. kinda
  6. I'll be there! Will be my first big convention! I'm excited already! Is there any official word yet, that it's definitely happening? I heard it was, same place around the same time. I was assuming that it would happen again in February 2013. I sure hope so. Looking at all the artists they had invited it must have been a success!? Fingers crossed - All the dealers that attended were positive about the event. Yeah, it was my assumption that it would return, as it certainly seemed a huge success, just wondered if I'd missed an official announcement. Pretty sure that there will be even more top dealers there next time, as I think a number were keeping an eye on the first one to see how it went. Don't imagine that Stan will make it back, but I can think of loads of creators I'd love to see; Adams, Steranko, Joe Simon etc. Nicest guys there this time for me were Wrightson who is a true gent and very modest and David LLoyd who not only signs but sketches for free, top bloke. Can't come around quickly enough for me.

  8. Always great to see an unusual book that has special significance to the owner. Nice job Hector
  9. I believe that the fast track stuff is already back. The standard submissions will still be a few months yet I should imagine. I'm waiting for three myself.
  10. I wasn't expecting that! I just blew tea out my nose!
  11. Cool, I'll take a bundle of NM WD 19's
  12. Awesome as always Bane how many books d'you need to fill out the run?
  13. Bloody hell, will have to head over to Hatfield and tell Rich how wonderful he is. That would be silly as the shop is in Stevenage you fool as I have just remembered that you have numerous firearms
  14. In other news, I popped into my LCS today, and as he is doing a cross promotion with our local cinema for Avengers, he gave me two free tickets to the movie! Result.
  15. Seriously, what is up with some of these LCS owners? I appreciate that they are deluged with new product these days, but even so, unless you've been living in North Korea for the last year or so you should understand that Image no.1's are worth at least keeping an eye on.
  16. FrozenTundraGuy, I cannot stress enough that if you are interested in the silver and golden ages then you really should be reading Alter Ego. Also noticing your avatar, each issue features the Fawcett Collectors of America section heavily featuring The Big Red Cheese. It is edited by Roy Thomas and has just gone over to full colour. It's not that easy to obtain on this side of the pond, but I buy every issue I see. I hope you check it out nd enjoy it. (thumbs u
  17. Arsenalherd is gonna be the UK's answer to Chuck
  18. Loved Comicbook Marketplace, the early Gary Carter edited issues are best and many people dislike the later issues, but I liked them all. Alter Ego is the best mag around nowadays.
  19. Great choice, beautiful cover. Hope you post a pic when it's slabbed.
  20. Not to be a pedant, but wasn't it Ampersand? In other words: a pun on '&'
  21. Okay, this was a long time ago, probably 1980 or '81, but my first visit to a proper comic shop was when a friend and I persuaded our mums to take us into London during the school holidays. The plan was that they would go and have lunch in Covent Garden and we would spend an hour or so in Comic Showcase in (I think Neal Street?). I will never forget that hour for as long as I live. I had never seen as many comics in one place in my life before and I was in heaven. They even had comics in there from, wait for it... As far back as the 1960's! I don't remember exactly what I bought, but it definitely included a bronze age Savage Sword of Conan mag and a Fantasy Masterpieces with GA Cap reprints, man I read that thing to death, it seemed like an ancient artifact at the time! Now, this is where my memory may be playing tricks on me. As we walked around the corner from the shop we came across a scary old bloke in a dirty mac with (I swear) an old market barrow (!) half covered in old comics and half in 'used' Porno mags. I bought an old Metal Men comic from him for pennies ( I thought I should buy it because it looked so old!) I'd love to know if any of you ever saw this guy and know who he was. He definitely existed, but my childhood memory may be exaggerating some of the details. That day cemented my obsession with comics though and I remember it fondly. Happy days!
