  1. Love the key or semi key double covers. That ASM 120 is truly a nice find. Peter Parker 28 likely NM/MT Not as nice as a 27 would have been but I'll take it.
  2. Need an Action 64 interior if anyone has one.
  3. I'm not sure about Ruth on the right but I believe its Ted Williams on the left. 8 is Whitey Ford?
  4. Saul is the Walrus. And Glennan is dead. The ending has a real "twist"
  5. These are very interesting with a huge collecting base. Some very good artists got there start with classics and the stories are decent summarys of the books. However, there are many many copies of these out there. Unlike "regular" comics, these would tend to get saved more often almost like readers digests instead of thrown out. It makes those first 20 issues with HRN 20 and below pretty tough as well as those few that weren't reprinted the only real challenge. Then there are all the foreign versions etc which are highly collectible for the classics completionists. I also think there was a factory or distribution find of the HRN 167 and/or 169 so those are very common, especially certain issues.
  6. I'm certain this was a poster at the time. Maybe the others as well? I'd assume the poster art came first but just a guess.
  7. Forgot to post this in the Mad thread. Found this one in a short box of MADS I was going through. Couldn't have asked for a better one to get the double cover.

  9. Avengers #17, Incredible Hulk #252, Iron Man #24, Wonder Woman #13 (1987 series) Thanks that WW 13 is exactly what i was looking for Anyone know of anymore? Must be some horror books or something? This is the only other one i know Conan #142, Wonder Woman #607 Deadface 3
  10. Took me a while but the upper right is an Atlas - Wendy Parker 7. Red cover with "May" above the W of Wendy. http://www.comics.org/issue/76557/cover/4/
  11. Bought a huge stack of Wrestling and other sports magazine and programs. Here's a couple of the oddball stuff you don't see every day. This came from a call I got on some 1950s Classic comics (seriously - any other title please) which I wasn't too thrilled about but all the other stuff I picked up made it worth it. Turns out that Wrestling Revue #1 is worth about $100
  12. DAFUQ? Never seen that cover before. Even in the 40's I didn't think it was funny to smack down on the cripples.
  13. Don't burst my bubble. No, you're probably right or maybe issue 15. Ed
  14. Somebody walk me down from this. 2 or 3 years ago I bought a collection from a elderly gentleman who was selling his sons collection of 8 long boxes. The son was 40+ and out of state and told his dad to just get rid of them. Great stuff, all 1970s and 80s but still. Well it turns out that in the late 70's the dad brought then 14 year old Billy to a antique shop that had old comics. He bought the 1970s stuff for his son but there were also 1930's comics that the dad bought and thought were fantastic. Two of them were Star Comics that I sold here on the boards. So I know the story is legit and not some karp we've all heard before about a stack of comics with the 1st appearance of blah blah blah all in perfect condition blah blah some more. Anyway I call him yesterday, years after this initial deal, and he says that he found a handful more of comics from the 30's including an Action Comic "that is in really nice shape". He says it is dated 1937 (what?) I ask him what was on the cover and he says he thinks it was a pirate. OK, so it's not #1 but it very well could be #3. Or it could be something completely different, say Adventure 49 who knows. Anyway, even if its issue 16 or whatever, I'm pretty stoked and can't wait to see the other 30's books. That stuff is just rare as can be. Of course, he is re-doing his basement so he wants to wait until the end of the month to have me over. Thus the mind races with fantasy books like a Suspense 3 or a nice Centaur. So the anticipation is killing me. It's not a life changer but who doesn't get excited about a potential raw find like this.
  15. Magazines in general tend to be more common, especially in highish grade. I do like the Savage Tales #1 which is early Conan, 1st in a magazine with a graphic headless cover and of course first Man-Thing. You can pick up a 9.2 for $300. Ed
  16. I started in the hobby around '85 and I think the whole fantasy and sci fi comic scene just started to fall hard, almost disco-esque. D&D was dying too. I think once something goes out of favor it just falls hard. It's been a long slog back and with sci fi and fantasy making a resurgeance, Conan's coming along with it. Conan wasn't the only issue being mailed in by the big two in the mid 1990's though.
  17. I may only be a member for another week. But this one was too nice not to post.
  18. I believe this to be the most desirable of the late 1960s to 1970s Mads. Complete with 6 foot poster.
  19. Holy Moley. This was part of a small 50s collection I picked up and when I saw it broken out in the guide, I had to take a look at the story. Little Billy Batson almost lost his head. Puts another flavor on Head Cheese. Or would that make him a Packer fan? I got a million of 'em. I should be the next Crypt Keeper. Anyway, here's the story kiddies. It's a Dangerous Game so keep your head on a straight. "Two heads are better than one" ------- Really Billy? Really?
