  1. Less than a week to go! We will have 20-30 new $2 boxes, a few new $5, $10 and $20 boxes, and lots of new priced stuff that we haven't had to a show. Here is a sample of some of the better priced stuff.... Sunday looks to be a great day in Columbus....come out for some good comic fun!
  2. Not very quick unfortunately....sometimes the window to sell "hot" stuff at a premium closes before I get to digging them out....case in point these Marvel Age 41's....before Stan passed they were going for good money....now not so much. I just uncovered these a few months ago going through some boxes so lost opportunity.....
  3. LOL....A man after my own heart!! Although I think I lost rookie status long ago after 1000+ long boxes, 200+ mag boxes, 1000's of posters, cards, toys, pulps, graphic novels, etc.....
  4. I think comics like that are Marvel Whitman variants.... There is an old thread around here somewhere that gives a detailed explanation on them....
  5. I don't think the gentleman had looked at his comics for years and years (the layer of crud on the bags was a giveaway) so I don't think he even remembered what he had. At the show he said he had late 80's and early 90's comics which a lot of it was but obviously there was quite a few that were not. When I evaluated the collection I wrote down separate prices for key books. Before I showed him what my offer was going to be I asked him what he wanted. Of course he said as much as he could get but he figured that by selling it all together he wouldn't get more than 10 cents each. At which time I told him it was good I had evaluated the comics first because my offer was way more than what he was expecting. We as informed comic people assume that everyone else should also know which comics are valuable and which ones are not.....but to the average person a comic is just a comic....
  6. Buckeye Comic Con coming to Columbus OH on Nov 24......Long running show with a nice amount of comics....if you are in the area definately worthwhile to make it a day comic shopping..... Link... http://m.harpercomics.com/ We'll have a couple tables and will be introducing comics from a new collection just purchased.....
  7. Here are a few group shot pics of some X-Men and Wolverine (and a few others) from the collection.....nice to get a decent amount of good books all together at one time.....
  8. Hadn't opened the boxes for years? Didn't care? Who knows? Most comics didn't have prices....No pics forthcoming of the boxes of that drek.... Most likely he knew that several comics had more value....he was just expecting that by selling everything at once to have to sell them at bulk prices I guess.....he was happy that didn't end up being the case....
  9. A few more pics from the collection.... X-men, Daredevil and Avengers were his 3 favorite titles so more of them than any other title...
  10. I actually drove 10 miles to him but sometimes people are just caught up in every day life for them to sell stuff piecemeal to get maximum profit....
  11. But of course for every collection like that one you have 20 like these.... On Sat drove I 2 hours west to look at a collection of "50's, 60's 70's & 80's" of around 800 comics....righttttt....it was literally so bad that I didn't want it at any price.....wouldn't have paid him $50 for all of it..... Makes the nice collections that much sweeter.....
  12. Thanks....for sure they are out there...need some luck and do some footwork....ironic that I drive 2 hours to find a collection 10 miles from me....
  13. Truthfully didn't even look at the sticker prices....just evaluated them on condition and gave him a price based on that....if I was going to really lowball him I would have gave him the 10 cent each he was expecting and been on my way.....not how I do biz though....
  14. The small show that I was at Sunday turned out better than I could have hoped for.....of course I picked up the Superman fan club stuff and the Marvelmania posters at the show (earlier post) which was awesome but I also got a lead on a collection. Guy came to our booth and said he had about 25 long boxes of comics from the late 80's to the early 90's he wanted to sell. I told him that I buy that stuff but don't pay a lot except for a few key issues. That was sort of what he expected. The show was a couple hours from my place but I still wanted to look at the collection so when setting up a time to view them he said "well, I don't live close to here". No problem for me I travel to look at books.....however it turns out he lived only 10 miles from my house....lol. Went last night to evaluate the collection and the 1st box I looked in had some 70's comics so I told him that it looked like he had some older/better stuff than he had told me at the show.... After I finished looking at everything and writing down my notes on the collection I asked what he was looking to get....he said that he figured the best he would get was around 10 cents each....at that point I told him he was in for a very pleasant surprise because I would be offering him a substantial amount more than that! I gave him my offer which he immediately accepted and 26 boxes came home with me..... A couple highlights....
  15. Just from a guy's collection set up at the show.....now going into my collection for the foreseeable future.....
  16. Picked up the Marvelmania posters and the Superman club stuff at a small show yesterday.....not cheap but sooooo happy to have them!
  17. $1 pick-ups from yesterday's small show....actually picked up the whole run of Kamandi and around 75 issues of Weird War Tales....
  18. So much great stuff! Love it All! Picked up this cool crime comic w/a little horror element at a small convention yesterday.... The pink colors on the front cover have a weird bleeding through to the inside of the cover...
  19. Nice one day comic convention in Springfield OH this coming Sunday 10-27. We will be there with great $2, $5 and $10 copper/bronze/silver boxes as well as comic magazines, some Golden Age and higher end books too. If you are in the area well worth the trip!
