  1. Sorry guys, I am busy doing things other than comic books. I make it a point not to response to unsolicited offers to buy my comics or sell me comics. A well know dealer and board member has offered to purchase my entire collection, including drek (maybe not) when I reach the ripe age of 70, which is pretty close. Here I am. I will be overseas until the end of the month.
  2. Wow, a Phantom Detective pin. Learn about new collectibles every day from Robot Man
  3. Already bought tickets for Thursday and Friday. Better than the 90 minute queue last year. Good Luck!
  4. Be certain to check your password on showclix.com/my-tickets I found out that my password had expired.
  5. Presale on Saturday April 29th at 11 AM ET for 2016 attendees only. Good luck.
  6. Tony, You should have received an e-mail from ReedPop at the end of March that said. Hi Tony, You are now Fan Verified and will have the opportunity to purchase NYCC 2017 tickets when they go on sale. You will only hear from us if we have questions, so you can rest easy! Please note: Fan Verification provides you the opportunity to buy NYCC tickets, but does not guarantee them. NYCC tickets will still be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. I am trying to decide whether to go to NYCC this year. I am planning to attend OAFCON the week before Halloween. My highlights last year were chatting with you and fellow boardies, but the comic book pickings were slim, since I attended Wizard Chicago in August.
  7. Fantastic Worlds in Scottsdale owned by long time boardie ciorac aka Bill Ponseti. Fantastic Worlds
  8. Thanks Steve! I am a troglodyte that does not do Facebook. I will plan to attend with my friend Jeff and his son William from East Oklahoma.
  9. Hi Guys, Can you verify that dates for 2017 are October 21-22? I need to make plans to fly and find accommodations. My friends from East Oklahoma also want to come. Thanks.
  10. Wow! Gay Comics 38 went for $2027. Unfortunately, I don't have a copy. Two bidders really wanted to win. http://ebay.com/itm/192143626723
  11. It's going take me forever to get to 1,000 posts. I found these on the internet, so these are not my scans. First two are from the silver age, but bring back many happy childhood memories. . Here are some from Babe comics. Only because Robot Man is one of my favorite boardies. Captain America 7 Death Loads the Bases cool splash.
  12. Jerry Robinson had three copies of Batman #1. G.A.tor bought the best copy. My copy is still raw, but when I am ready to sell, Nadia said that she will help me get a SS yellow slab, since she is a CGC witness. I like touching the book and letting my buddies touch a Batman #1. Both Bunky Brian and G.A.tor said to keep the book raw until I am ready to sell. The main issue with the Jerry Robinson collection is the page quality. Because of how the books were stored, most of them are brittle, which kept most collectors away.
  13. My most expensive purchase ever was made was in 2011 from All Star Auctions at 2011 SDCC. I decided to fork out the cash. Nadia and Joe Mannarino, who are now directors at Heritage, were helping the late Jerry Robinson sell off his collection. Nadia still remembered from from the time that I purchased an EC OA page drawn by the great Wally Wood from her. I was so nervous and my hands were sweaty when handling the book. Since I consider comic book collecting as a hobby to me, I was reluctant to spend so much money on one comic book, but a happy that I did.
  14. If the seller is Bechara Malouf, his website is Nostalgic Investments Unfortunately, his website is not up to date and I could not find the GRUTO splash there.
  15. Robot Man Thanks for the detailed report. These two cosplay girls are dressed as Star Wars Twi'lek and first appeared in the horrid Phantom Menace. How was the parking? I have not been to Anaheim Convention Center in over a decade, but like the location much more than Staples.
  16. G.A.tor, Since you have been a vendor at SDCC many times. Do you still walk the entire exhibit hall or just stay around the comic book section. One of my long-time vendor buddies no longer walks the entire exhibit hall. Unfortunately, there are many aisles of magic crystals, wigs, and absolute drek.
  17. I bought the early issues off the newstand. I really enjoy Paul Gulacy's artwork. The comic book came out during the height of the martial arts craze in the seventies. Here is Master of Kung Fu #31, page 3. My college room mate said the guard seeing Shang Chi coming in the reflection off his cigarette lighter was ridiculous. I had Paul Gulacy sign this page for me.
  18. Dave Steven's inspiration for his heroine in The Rocketeer was the late pinup model Bettie Page.
  19. G.A.tor, Did you stay up and watch the Badgers-Gators sweet 16 game? One of the best endings ever.
  20. Two pieces from my secret stash. Weird Science #19 P3 the great Wally Wood - I woke up in the middle of the night, decided to look at my smartphone messages, and saw that Mike Burkey had this page for sale. Originally, the page was offered on eBay by Silveracres in the UK for a mere $1k. Only a recreation of Bats 23 cover by Spoon Sprang. I love the sweat coming off the Joker's brow.
  21. The pre-Fox Phantom Lady had a yellow costume with green cape, unlike the Matt Baker blue costume. I just looked through the PSArts Phantom Lady vol 1.
  22. Not only does Rick have some neat stuff, he is also very great seller. I have had four successful purchases from Rick and heartily recommend purchasing from him. The comic books arrived quickly, safely, and carefully packed in a Gemini Comic Supply flash mailer, which is inside a priority mailer.
  23. Coollines has that OA. That splash was around 2-2.5k. I bought page 2 at what I thought was a reasonable price at NYCC and spent quality time with the brilliant Sqeggs.
  24. I forgot I have a copy and buy a second copy. May be early signs of senility. Has happened several times since I joined the boards.
  25. On the old boards, didn't there used to be a poll option in the reply window? Can't set up a poll, if such an option does not currently exist. There is some discussion of the missing poll option in the "I hate the new boards" thread. I am mostly left brained and worked with computers since 1972 (pre desktop).
