  1. Thanks for posting. P G Wodehouse is my favorite author. Looks like X-ray specs from the comic book ads.
  2. Could someone put up a list of what sold, the prices, and grades? I can't find any of it on ebay. I was gone, so I missed all the auction finals. 3. After NYCC, I visited Roger's Time Machine and found two of these and thought of you, Robot Man, and had to purchase the nicer one. From the sixties, but after I saw Robot Man's MAD bust, I had to get one. Roger is a great guy.
  4. According to Grand Comics Database, Canadian Seven Seas #2 (only one issue in series) reprints US Seven Seas #4. Also states "Reprints the cover to issue #5 of the U.S. comic Seven Seas Comics (Universal Phoenix, 1946 series) and apparently has the interiors to issue #4, but this needs to be confirmed from the actual comic." http://www.comics.org/issue/271452/ I have a raw SS #5 and I verified that "Murder goes native" is not in SS #5. My SS #4 is slabbed. Congratulations on the great find.
  5. Thanks for sharing. I was hoping that you found the book on one of your junking trips. Even the late EC super fan Gary Arlington never found a copy. Congratulations!
  6. Robot Man, I was admiring your signature line and wondered what was the story behind your acquisition of the super rare EC Tales of Terror Annual 1? I love your stories.
  7. What is that necro-fantasy line of statues? Are they from some film or just original designs, or...? There seems to be quite a few figures in the line and I couldn't tell much from their placards. I just checked some of the plaques and the figures come from some unknown to me series called Court of the Dead. Can not imagine that they would sell many premium format statues of an obscure series. http://courtofthedead.com/ http://www.sideshowtoy.com/brands/court-of-the-dead/?gclid=CLPap7rr0MYCFYlafgodNXsElA
  8. I don't miss going to SDCC this week, since I was no longer having fun and enjoying myself. After qualifying for a senior's SDCC rate, I could not get a regular badge, but could have gotten an exhibitor's badge. Decided not to go this year after 25 straight years. Comics selection was not great last year. I think I only bought seven or eight comic books, but did pick up Alex Ross OA in person. I bought a Matt Baker book, where the dealer did not know who Matt Baker was. I usually drive down from San Francisco; since if I have a car, I can bring home more loot. Might just fly down next year and get a room from airbnb to avoid the hotel and parking lottery.
  9. Can anyone identify the celeb guys in the pics on the wall? The somewhat obvious ones are Cary Grant (left), Sinatra (center), Van Helfin and Gary M could be Gary Merrill? Or is that Guy M? Red-headed Van is Van Johnson.
  10. While everybody in the San Francisco Bay Area was attending the Golden State Warriors NBA Championship Parade, I was waiting for FedEx to deliver.... A "Spoon" Sprang recreation of Batman 23. I have been looking for a recreation that I liked for a while. Thanks to FedEx, Comiclink, and the person who put the recreation up for auction.
  11. Poor folk do not typically have collections as awesome as yours one nice set display of books, spread the love around Just seeing this thread for the first time, and this pic is incredible. Congrats! The Joker covers are nothing compared to Tec 27. I put 27 of these in honor of your Tec 27.
  12. I checked on Heritage archives and noticed that Tales of Terror Annual #1 has been offered three times (only two are in the archive) and Shock Illustrated #3 has been offered five times with a 9.2 Gaines File copy offered twice. Only supposed to be 100 copies of Shock Illustrated #3.
  13. An EC completist will have to chase the the elusive Tales of Terror Annual #1. No Gaines File Copies of Tales of Terror Annual #1. Even the late EC super fan, Gary Arlington, did not own a copy. One of the last times that I saw Gary was at WonderCon in SF asking every dealer whether they had a copy for sale.
  14. My Millie set that I want to complete focuses on pre DeCarlo and DeCarlo. Once Stan Goldberg took over the artwork, I'm no longer interested in the books. I lack about 18 issues at this time. I have Patsy #1-30 and tons of scattered issues after that but I am not pursuing a complete run. For Millie, my target books also include Showgirls and A Date with Millie (1st series.) 2nd series is Goldberg. I also collect all the pre DeCarlo appearances in Joker, Gay, Comedy, and the other teen titles. I like the pre DeCarlo stories because they're written like 1940's movie comedies and have a variety of storylines and crossovers, like Jeanie visits Millie, Millie runs into Hedy when a producer tries to put Millie in the movies. Yes, I actually read them! Once Stan and Dan got the formula down, most stories were always Millie and Chili competing for the same modeling job, Chili tries to undermine Millie's chances but Millie always comes out on top. The artwork was great though! That's some collection! What are the 18 issues of Millie that your down too? For Millie, I'm missing 22 issues. That is based only on issues 1-92. 93 is the first Goldberg issue. So of those first 92, I'm missing 30, 33, 38, 41, 42. 50. 52, 53, 54, 59. 60. 61, 62, 64, 65, 68, 69, 70, 71, 75, and 76. I've been collecting them since about 2006 but I didn't seriously think that I would get close to completing the run so I didn't always make a lot of effort. I have the complete Irma run and my holdout issue was #26, I don't think it's scarcer than the others, it just happened to be the last issue I was able to find. With Irma, there's one issue that I still need to replace because the pinup was removed. I found a second copy and the pinup was missing in it as well. If you have never seen the pinup and joke pages in the Irma books, Dan often presented Irma more suggestively than he did Millie on similar pages in Millie books. It makes me wonder if that was a particularly nice pinup. I have a complete set of My Friend Irma. If you PM me the issue with the missing pinup, I can send you a scan. I purchased many DeCarlo Millie and Irma comics with missing pages. I started collecting the DeCarlo books after I retired and discovered the wonderful CGC boards.
  15. Thanks for the links and wealth of information in your post. I noticed in the link that you provided. LInk from Kite_Fun_Books "Michael Barrier recently provided information from Disney royalty payments that show the total number of this comic is 830,000." I wonder if there are many undiscovered copies out there?
  16. As per my comment above, you may want to check the interior where the specific power company is mentioned to see which version you have. And, yes, congratulations on a great find, whichever version it is. Cover says PG&E.
  17. Supposedly rare. However, the kite fun books were distributed in grammar school to young students. My brothers and I have a few. The Donald Duck book was distributed before I was born, but I did purchase a SCE version from a board member. I have seen a few at conventions, but they were out of my price range. Congratulations!
  18. All I have is a ratty copy of Cap 3. I received this in the mail today.
  19. Nice books. Hope to see you again at NYCC this year. Tony, I am planning on attending NYCC. I already paid for my apartment and flight. Will be leaving for Cooperstown on Sunday morning.
  20. Here are my three raw copies. I apologize for the poor picture. I had to take the smartphone photo without flash and lights on to avoid reflection on the comics. Unfortunately, the sun just set. Hope to meet my fellow collectors at Wizard Chicago this year. I met sqeggs last year in New York City and discovered that we both graduated from the same high school and college (UC Berkeley).
  21. Tony, $1225 for Jetta 6 is more than I paid for my Cap 3. I believe that you guys are better at digging up rare comics than I.
