  1. You echo some of the thoughts I read in a real estate outlook for the remainder of the year and 2021. There were a few that held the belief that while sales will decline, the values will remain the same. People are not going to give their homes away with the same reasoning that Callaway29 states. Could that be true with everything else? It probably depends on the book and the price. If it is a $10 item and someone offers $9, then sure, take it for $9 and be done with it. If it is a $1,000 item and someone is only offering $900 then maybe that is not the right buyer.
  2. I think it is in the eye of the beholder. Yes we can agree that it is possible to determine 'bad art' in the case of Liefeld's early depictions of feet. But to say that you hate Humberto Ramos? I may not like Ramos' style on certain characters but he draws well for the style that he is using. I personally like Wally Wood, Romita Sr and a few others more than Kirby's art. I can appreciate Kirby's art but if I had the ability to pick up a classic Kirby cover or a classic Wood EC cover, I would buy the Kirby cover so I could immediately sell it and buy the Wood Cover and a few other things. Of the modern artists though? I really dig Jim Lee's stuff. in my opinion. Lee's take on Batman was possibly the best take on the character, I've seen in years.
  3. Hoping this is not exclusive to comic characters or creators... Calamerica We haven't had a good Cal thread in awhile.
  4. I agree with @Junkdrawer , but what are your thoughts on this... The only thing I am unsure of is if there was ever any rust on the staples. I was told early on that once something starts to rust, the staple decomposes exponentially faster and then migrates to the paper causing those stains. So... it might take a long time to rust but once it starts it decomposes quicker than it took to get rusty in the first place if that makes sense.
  5. We just did a virtual happy hour over zoom from 2- ? I bowed out at 5... they are still on. I made cheap and easy hot wings by getting pre-made fried chicken and oven baking them in franks hot sauce with blue cheese dressing. Also... as far as the beers / drinks go? Blue Point Summer Ale Simply Blueberry Lemonade + Fresh Mint from outside + Absolut Citron - that's the go to drink around here. I'm making a strong effort to stay away from the FS threads to make sure I do not commit myself to a Batman #1 or something from Whitlock's thread.
  6. I recently ordered that on Amazon for $8 shipped. I will be wearing that with a banana or a surgical mask over it.
  7. eBay has flat out told me that a $10,000 comic should not be sold over their system. So, while I have items listed on eBay, I have other things listed on ComicLink on the exchange. If they sell... they sell.
  8. I posted this in the block this buyer thread... but this was last night's exchange for a $150 book.
  9. It's a fair statement more about gocollect. GoCollect seems to scream Wizard Top Ten every time I look at it.
  10. I did not know that. I did not even know that there was a site. I will admit my shame publicly.
  11. No, but I am having a lot of fun with this online app I found.
  12. I would not know how to even go about pulling this data so first I have to say, The only issue I have is that some of those top books have been CPR'd many times over the years. To the newer board members, we have discussed that there may not be as many graded Hulk 181's, ASM 300's in population in the lower grades since they greatly benefit from a CPR price bump. Now we realize that this is a common book so this is not to imply that there is any shortage of Hulk 181's or ASM 300's. But what of books like X-Men 1? Some of those are definitely pressed. I know that my 4.5 that went to a 5.5 is still on the census. But really though? How do you get this data?
  13. The only solace I take from Hollywood financial reports is that there are worse things than Congress running our nations budget. It could be Hollywood. Remember that Paramount claimed that Forrest Gump never made money and fixed the books in a way that Winston Groom, the writer, would never receive any of the incentive / royalty payouts on the film. https://www.nytimes.com/1995/05/25/movies/gump-a-huge-hit-still-isn-t-raking-in-huge-profits-hmm.html https://www.filmstories.co.uk/features/forrest-gump-the-678m-grossing-film-that-apparently-made-a-loss/
  14. This guy "has no control over his child." Demet1973 Demetrios kalkanis Buzzards Bay MA 02532-3882 He seems to follow quite a few board members that I recognize on eBay. This was for a $150 comic. My response follows. Because...
  15. I think you are doing a pretty damn good job to be honest.
  16. I see that now. The first female boots that I was going by was Psylocke and Jean Grey and the wrinkles were notably different. Once I looked further I see what you mean and Jubilee uses the same foot as Jean Grey but not the same part of the lower leg. (it seems). In the past Hasbro has said that a specific part may not be available because the molds were currently being used for something else. They have said that with Star Wars and GI Joe. Where do you think they could have made an improvement on a figure where they utilized one part from a preexisting mold over another? So for example, when the GI Joe club was still in existence people would pressure the club to revise a design before it went into production to seek out the parts or builds of a different figure. An example was Salvo. The original utilized one body until the club members kept pressuring them to revise the design and they wound up using the Dwayne Johnson Roadblock parts. So basically what could have easily been improved? (Skinny salvo was what was planned - Dwayne the Rock Johnson is what they wanted and eventually received)
  17. Again, I never would have thought that with this particular line. With GI Joe, Hasbro has had many opportunities to reuse parts across the line because there is really not a 'bible' as to how each character needs to exactly look. So starting with the original line in 82, most of the figures were made from the same body but given a different head. As they introduced new figures from 1982 to 2018, a military boot was... a military boot. Who is to say that Snake Eyes was not issued the same military boot in black that Rock n Roll was issues in tan. With the Marvel legends I would never have thought so many parts are reused since the costumes have to strictly follow the preconceived character design. With GI Joe and even to a point, Transformers, the design seems to be changed to what parts are available for use. Now I am looking at your X-Men group shot to see what's shared.
  18. I never realized that before. I remember reading at one point that peg holes were a 'thing' now across almost all brands out of a sense of tradition. I remember reading that, I just don't remember where I read that. Perhaps that is true then with marvel legends? Is there any sense or reason to it though? For example, do certain time periods have the same size peg hole in comparison to others?
  19. Headed to beach to see if it is accessible for something I have planned next week. Hopefully, I shall return to something far more entertaining than it already is. @Artboy99 Comments like that kill me. Hulk 340 was the first book I ever submitted to be slabbed. When I was removing it from the box and walking it over to the table to wrap it, I dropped it. I don't know if it had any damage as a result but I can only imagine what could have been. It came back a 9.6. Oh... what could have been. https://comics.www.collectors-society.com/WCM/ComicView.aspx?PeopleSetComicID=361603
  20. Lol I see so many people walking around town in flannel PJ bottoms or robes + surgical masks... (Even I admit to dropping off a fed ex package in the evening in flannel PJ bottoms but no robe) It’s like a bunch of people cosplaying as Tony Soprano.
  21. Tom Holland has a CGC graded copy of Avengers 11 in his home office. (As seen on Kimmel) I think it's a 6.5? Video linked for better clarity.
  22. I do not like the current design and was going to cancel my subscription this year but after I forgot to disable auto-renew I figure I will give it one more year and then go from there.
