  1. Rich Henn was a GREAT facilitator for ECCC and as a result I now have... Green Lantern #86 CGC 9.2 SS Denny O'Neil & Neal Adams and Green Lantern #100 CGC 9.6 SS Denny, Mike Grell and Alex Saviuk thanks rich!
  2. and second, again from Rich via Emerald City facilitation Green Lantern #100 CGC 9.6 SS Denny, Mike Grell & Alex Saviuk Tied for highest on census at the moment, and I hear there were a few triple sigs done on this book at ECCC.
  3. Via Rich Henn's facilitation at Emerald City... So hyped about these books... First up Green Lantern #86 CGC 9.2 Double Signed by Neal Adams & Denny O'Neil Bought it here on the boards raw as a 9.0/9.2 (cant remember from whom, but grading was spot on).
  4. looks like Twistty1 (over in the GA forum had one of the 6.5s (not the one shown since the one shown was old label) so that leaves two other 6.5s out there that this guy might have lifted a photo of. here's twisstty1's copy over in GA
  5. Wonder if that front photo was taken at a con on the sly from a dealers inventory..... then they found a back cover scan over at HA and voila! Book for sale. there's only three 6.5s on the census...
  6. and we've got another likely scam.. Hitler vs Daredevil being "sold" by smokey12. OP listed the book with front cover photos, a back cover scan (cause you know we all only bother to scan the back cover), and tried to point people to his email address before getting the thread yanked. I wonder if all these IDs smokey12 happycollectible and whomever was selling the 'tec were all from the same ip
  7. if this is in reference to the cons I mentioned... the threads got poofed. One was someone asking for "information" about a book he bought (Superman 1) that looked like a photocopied cover (it was real grainy/fuzzy, especially compared to the clarity in the photo around it). The thread (originally posted in marketplace) got moved to GA and was determined to be some con fishing. Second con was a Detective #29 that was for sale, but GAtor determined that the seller didn't have possession of the book (was owned by someone else), and when pushed the OP produced a photo that looked like a photocopy of a cover had been placed inside a slab (with a label). The book in question had actually been re-subbed by the REAL owner and had been downgraded from a 4.0 to a 3.5. Both transactions provided email addresses (based on their CGC member name) in an attempt to move negotiations off the board as quickly as possible before anyone got wind of the scam. I believe the golden-age forum thread with the Superman 1 reprint was reinstated by the mods. nope its dead over in GA too.
  8. as I said I only saw the thread for a second. I'll correct my OP.

The thread (originally posted in marketplace) got moved to GA and was determined to be some con fishing. Second con was a Detective #33 (4.0) that was for sale, but GAtor determined that the seller didn't have possession of the book (was owned by someone else), and when pushed the OP produced a photo that looked like a photocopy of a cover had been placed inside a slab (with a label). 10. later this week (depending on when they come in) some nice affordable Bronze Horror Neal Adams books. CGCed.
  11. Any point in adding the couple of scans from Friday night onto the HOS? I doubt they'll (or he'll, cause I have a feeling it was one person) be back under those IDs ever again.... but wonder if its worth it. maybe even not the type of scam attempted so if someone were to check the HOS list in the future (should another "new" member try to sell a high priced book) they could at least see the past scams so their radar was appropriately tuned. thoughts?
  12. OK just acquired this so I have to ask, is there a list of what's considered "key" Archie Covers? Or key Betty/Veronica covers? (I'd assume any list w.o Archie #50 at or near the top of the charts to be suspect!)
  13. So was there a ripple effect on modern speculation when Sixth Gun didn't get picked up and some people started to sell off their copies of the books? I dont spend much time in the modern market, so I thought I'd ask. Looks like Saga prices have settled down a little in the last month around the same time, I dont know about other books like Revival and others... So is hot a little less hot after the Sixth Gun "correction" (or how ever its being referred to). [note: Im not making a dig at any collector here, Im curious, so Im asking. No judgement, no critique, no pleasure in seeing books decrease in value, just a question]
  14. I absolutely hate that cover! I dislike it so much that I only bought the issue to get closer to completing my GL run. [bLOCKED] (sooooo kidding.... do you not like the greytone?)
  15. hepcat, nice list and I like your GL cover choices... but you missed a great one.
  16. I think most will agree... Now if it was a collector who loved the book as his/her own and wanted it signed I'd give a begrudging pass... but its a dealer, who got it signed, trippled the price (vs what he paid for the book in 2011) and has let it sit on ebay. Ruining a pedigree just to try and milk some more money out of an amazing book (single highest ped)
  17. Not high grade, not White PQ, but its mine all mine! Thanks to hibou for selling me this book at a nice price. For a guy collecting on a budget I never thought I'd have a shot at a slabbed 76, but now that I have one upgrade?
  18. final value seems in line with what the books been selling for over the last year. Someone bit on a $245 BIN on a 9.2 last month, so that gave the 9.0s a little room to grow, otherwise the 9.2 price and the 9.0 prices have been neck and neck.
