I never heard of ALan Ladd except for seeing him on a comic book

Because of my love for Tolkien, I'm sticking with the show and really want to like it but it's mostly a disappointment for me. It seems more like the run of the mill fantasy series that the industry has been churning out the last several years. I have yet to see any performances of weight yet and the writing is weak. The music is bland at best. In the LOTR, the music sucks you right in from the start along with a stable of incredibly strong actors, strong -script and of course strong source material. Of course this is my opinion. I really wanted to like this.

Should've kept mine. Same grade with less resto.
If you knew how many times I've said the same thing.

Was there an add for Action 1 in any of the DC books that predate Action 1? If so, what are they worth?

I prefer the Schomburg covers where the women don't look like... err, how can I say this delicately in this ultra PC modern world we live in...I greatly prefer the Schomburg covers where the women look a lot less like the "Lady" on the cover of Terrific #5.
As good as he was, my unpopular opinion is that his work was often way too busy, too cluttered at times. Suspense 3 excluded, of course. Hard to remember which cover was which, they all kinda blend together. His airbrush covers on the other hand.....

Because of the dust shadows? How is a 7.5 a gift grade because of the dust shadows? Structurally, it doesn't look worse than a 7.5. I've seen 9.6 books with dust shadows like that.
It's purely a Comiclink issue, because a simple back scan would've clearly shown a cosmetic (not structural) defect like dust shadows that people don't need CGC to judge for them. Each individual buyer looking at the scan, if one existed, would be able to use their independent judgment whether they can live with such dust shadows or not.
This is the bare minimum for what any auction company should do!
It's like saying I always stay in a particular hotel chain because there's always a bed in the room.
I'd like to see the inside of that back cover to see if that tanning or"Dust Shadow" is present there as well.

Being a big fan of LOTR, I hope they don't screw this up. Diversity casting isn't an issue for me. Middle Earth covers a large area with lots of people and races. The stories and the writing matter along with characters that we would come to care about played by actors who can pull it off.
I'm going into this expecting to be disappointed but hoping I'm wrong.

@The Black Hand ®, did you ever win FotY?
The only thing I ever won was the election for Emperor of the Water Cooler way back in the early days here. I beat out some cat named Fuelman for the honor. When realizing that the power the position would grant me would invariably lead me to turn evil, I quickly abdicated and turned the title over to the wondrous MarvelFanGirl.

My first mail order purchase was a MAD #1 from Howard Rogofsky for $7.50. A lot of money for a 12 year old kid. I wanted it so bad. Still have it.
I used to order from Howard. Books would come between two thick pieces of cardboard with a brown paper wrapping.

I was able to connect with a lot of MLJ/Archie fans through eBay. It was also a very affordable way to fill in MLJ runs. They were still under the radar in the late 90's and even looked down on by many dealers and mainstream GA collectors. Being a tightwad I was able to find incredible deals at times. It was a lot of fun.

I got most of my MLJ's between 1998 and 2003. It was wide open.

These Blue Ribbons will be the ruin of me. The absolute ruin. When I saw this wreck of a BR #21 I just HAD to have it... and paid accordingly. Second-to-last issue of the run and so friggin' rare! I feel the way about this one that Gino feels about the BR #19. Love it to death and I'll probably be buried with it.
The Black Hand is so misunderstood. He's the real hero of Blue Ribbon Comics.
