  1. I know I’ve said this before, but I realised some years ago that the only way I would ever be able to afford all the GA I wanted was to buy restored copies, and now I have almost everything I want. I look upon resto like art…a necessary thing.
  2. HA are that bad, are they ? I’ve never sold anything with them…
  3. I can’t see anything strong about the Tec # 27 though, selling for $43 K less than the identical HA copy three months ago.
  4. Well the last one on HA went for $336 didn’t it ? I remember watching it live and it had no live bids at all…most unusual.
  5. All’s good over here, a more peaceful way of life. Keep my ear to the ground for one more book to complete my collection. Funnily enough, I just did a submission by remote for a friend in the UK, so technically it can be done…if only he listened to my instructions properly…
  6. This. Lost count of how many times I’ve had to claim money back from customs.
  7. Don’t ever remember seeing a big key get no further bids in the live section at HA…
  8. English Steve in the video ! Smashing fella...😀😀
  9. That's what Matt told me too, so I took my book elsewhere. The place I went to said that Matt told him that he always had to declare the trimming, presumably because of his association with CGC. Resto guys who are not associated with CGC do not have to declare it, so, if the leafcasting work etc is done well enough, then the book loses it's trimmed designation. This is a fact in my case - my book is no longer trimmed.
  10. I sold our 5.0 copy last year for around $2500...asked my wife what she paid for it 18 years ago...$40.
  11. Do you really think the 7.0 (R) Tec 27 will beat the blue label Supe # 1 ? My Tec is 7.5 with mod resto, and only cost $222 K three years ago...
  12. This exactly why I buy restored GA, I know I can't possibly afford anything else, and with an aim to have all the keys, I've been telling people restored is the only way, rather than never having them.
  13. That was a very amateurishly restored book too if you zoomed in...my copy well worth the extra $55 K...I hope.
  14. Hey Grant - your horror collection looks to be coming on nicely ?
  15. It's not just that it's green - if you look closely at the two genuine back covers (as pointed out by stevemmg), some things are in slightly different positions - the picture itself for one. They definitely have been put together in a slightly different layout.
  16. Yes, you're right, they definitely are in different positions. It certainly looks to me like DC went out of their way to distinguish between the two versions.
  17. Yesterday I came across this 0.5 restored copy of Flash # 1 due in an upcoming CC auction - it's noted as Wrong back cover, which got me thinking 'That looks like the correct full colour back cover to me...hmm'...so I looked up past sales on HA, and found a 6.5 unrestored copy with a back cover that has a mostly green illustration. That explains it then, I thought, unitl I found a 4.5 unrestored copy with a back cover that has a full colour illustration. Upon closer inspection, it can be seen that the line of text 'RECORDS PLAY 3 FULL MINUTES FOR BOTH SIDES' is on both of the unrestored back covers, about 3/4 of the way down, but not on the 0.5 copy. This leads me to think that the 'Wrong back cover' may be from an Action Comics # 21, and, not unsurprisingly, that the Flash # 1 back covers never appeared on any other book. But, as I am no expert on the history of GA books, does any of our more learned colleagues know if there was indeed a second printing of Flash Comics # 1 ?
  18. Couldn't believe that MF # 55 price - what does that make my 1.5 resto/trimmed copy worth ?
  19. I've seen it all now...I was picking these up off the local market for a penny each in the late seventies...
