  1. Pat, Mark… I’ll see what I can do. A short description should not be a problem… Maybe I should read the chapter about Pedrocchi in my friend's book about comics publishing under fascism and then make a brief summary about him. "Saturn" is quintessentially Pedrocchi, after all.
  2. I do agree, although substantial defects must be stated, e.g. detached staples…
  3. Lovely… I have a good number in lowgrade from #1-10 but still missing the #12…
  4. I have no skin in this game, but I find it strange that a " 2nd appearance" is missing from this list. When you look at it listed the way it is above, one gets a better idea of how absurd the whole argument is. Its like everyone is trying as hard as they can to not call 181 his 2nd appearance, and go as far as eliminating a 2nd appearance entirely. If 182 is his 3rd appearance, what is his 2nd? Anyone? Then you have to ask.... If 182 is a cameo ( and it is ), why is it considered his 3rd appearance? Based on your standards above, should it not be considered his 3rd appearance ( cameo ) and Giant size x-men be his 3rd full? This is what you are doing for his first appearance above, but change your stance on later appearances ... again ... why is there a double standard in place? I personally think we should consider labeling books ( with 1st cameos ) from now on like this: 180 : 1st appearance of wolverine ( cameo ) 181: 2nd appearance of Wolverine ( 1st full appearance ) 182: 3rd appearance of Wolverine ( cameo ) Giant size X-men 1: 4th appearance of Wolverine ( 2nd full appearance) Uncanny X-men 94 : 5th appearance of Wolverine ( 3rd full appearance) To me, this explains his appearances properly. Cameo has been a term we have used in this hobby forever. It doesn't need to go away, just call them for what they are. They are appearances, period. Cameo or not, label them in order and call them what they are. It doesn't matter if a characters 4th appearance is his 1st full, its still his 4th appearance ( 1st full) (thumbs u ...I approach this in an unorthodox manner, but agree with you for the most part. In my opinion, if you don't own 180, 181, AND 182 then you don't own Wolverines first appearance. It's all the SAME story. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u Same here, but I love how Silverdream summarized… Now let’s hope NO ONE brings the question on the table again!
  5. I know you're correct about #23 but I just checked ebay and CGC doesn't mention it which is odd. Just a general note about horseman. I just read but never realized the covers of 24, 25 & 26 are suppose to form a mural. Might look nice to have some CGC copies displayed side by side. X-Factor was, by far, the best part of Fall of the Mutants. By far. Plus, that gorgeous Simonson art. In #23 Death (Angel as Death, that is) is clearly part of the story – #24 is just more attractive as it has the cover and the full story unfolds through #25. I have had my spare #24 graded but will sell it with #23 and #25 raw, so if one wants to read the story can just look for a reader of #24.
  6. And don’t get me started by a certain use of language, especially in "politically correct" sensitive issues…
  7. That’s obvious – if there is some dishonesty and one needs to get the facts, in a transaction it’s the source. But again, I thoroughly disagree on how "information" is shared by television and the internet these days: the street man should not be interested to know all the details of crime news and the like, which are handled by the proper autorities: that is just an aberration of modern times.
  8. You've missed the point. If YOU want to keep something private, keep it private. That's not the issue. You are not bound, however, to keep what people say TO YOU private, simply because they send you a "private" message. The privacy, in that sense, is simply that others cannot access it. Then that is no longer "private": it is between me… and myself. Private is private, no matter what. Obviously there is a degree of "public" with posting on the web, even in protected areas or sites, but so it is with paper letters and/or documents.
  9. not sure how much to believe (if he truly believes this or he's lying to me) but he believes he did nothing wrong (regarding the color touch disclosure) and the lack of refund is the result of his sales/business ruined over this issue I am paraphrasing but that was part of his last message to me I am amazed that one can think his own reputation can be ruined by a mere misunderstanding and/or equivocation. I am even more amazed to hear he has not agreed to refund you immediately…
  10. Aside from your general reasoning "private" means "private", otherwise it’s public. And no, I would not say at all in public things I am bound to elaborate with some specific person: that’s the very sense of "private".
  11. It didn't happen then, because that poop stain of a movie ruined Daredevil for years. Just like the Green Lantern movie sent prices tumbling for GL keys. When movies are done well, (or series), then the books take off. This also applies to speculative fever before the product is released. (See Flash, Avengers, Iron man etc.) I'm talking about the run-up before the series came out. Why did everyone think first Purple Man was a good buy when details were still sparse? From what I've heard Purple Man will appear in the Jessica Jones series, not DD. The Purple Man was used very effectively in Alias. Creepy beyond belief. Evil at a Joker level. Which is, basically, not the Purple Man. And this proves once again that Bendis more than often either did not know better or did not care anything for the characters.
  12. You mean a quick summary here or a brief article for some purpose? In the second case, I could do that, I should do some reading, otherwise I am not enough learned to give a full picture, but it’s a pretty landmark series here, continuously referenced by comic artists. Here’s one by Magnus, a very famous italian artist: and another one by Corrado Mastantuono (both a Disney and realistic author): I also see Bonelli recently homaged it in the latest Martin Mystere almanac (2015), which features a full Martin Mystere story referencing the original series: Zavattini was a famous writer and anti-fascist too, but the strip belongs as much to Pedrocchi as it does to him (in fact, Zavattini did not write comics and was originally uncredited). Sorry for the small pics they’re the largest ones posted on the web…
  13. Rebo is a really important character in italian comics' history – a sort of Dr. Doom ante-litteram, so to speak…
  14. I’m still counting on you for the 1st Egghead…
  15. A 1969 (my birth year! ) hardbound reprint…
  16. How about the Jack of Spades? I have this, but not scanned, so it’s a found image… It‘s a mini-comic…
  17. Also worth noting that, although the original plot subject was by famous italian writer Cesare Zavattini, the final story and dialogue were by Federico Pedrocchi, which has been the godfather of Disney publishing in Italy, and a true pioneer in establishing a school of italian authors at Mondadori (the publisher of Disney). In its original form (all were published journal sized, in full color), here’s a page from the fifth episode:
  18. Not to say, but in Italy (and in a good portion of the whole Europe) this is an absolute pillar. We even have had various Disney pariodies/homages to the characters… An original italian book from the 1940s reprints which I recently purchased for RyanH… It has always been owned by Disney, since it appeared first in 1936 – through Mondadori (which was the Disney licensor in Italy at the time).
  19. Here’s mine, a VG or so… I haven’t rescanned it so scan is from the original seller (Philreal) from which I bought it… Is there some movement on the book or am I dreaming? I thought it was valued less… I am also waiting for my first Avengers #4…
  20. That’s precisely what I think. And one may think whatever he wants, but Thor #165-166 remain pretty much neglectable in the economy of Warlock’s own life. Hulk #180 is another matter, as the story is meaningful as a whole, not just because Wolverine appears, and it is in two parts, so if one is serious about the stories you need to have both.
