  1. Given new valiants current problems; it looks like never.
  2. Eventually one of these is going to get into the hands of someone with questionable morals and they will obfuscate the cert# so CGC will have a more difficult time hiding their mistake prior to the item being sold.
  3. Am I crazy and not thinking about the same label; is this not the last page of your packing slip form under submission forms? The little dotted line box with the scissors picture...
  4. CGC will allow this as long as you are giving them money! As for the grade drop, there is always a chance (higher with more handling) that the book will drop. It is a roll of the dice but even if there is a drop (as long as it isn't from 9.8) the signatures and remarks will be the selling point not book in this case.
  5. Thanks for the very quick responses! I had previously reached out to Tim Seeley as well. Doing a quick search of Thony it does match his style and some initial signatures; he doesn't have much of an online presence will have to do some leg work to contact him. Edit to add: it is very likely that I wrote the incorrect artist information for the piece not the boardie that sold it to me.
  6. In a effort to downsize I sold off most of my original art through heritage, then moved the lesser pieces through Comiclink. I guess my luck couldn't hold out as we recently ran into a problem with one of the pieces. 8ish years ago I bought the below piece from a forum member either in a sales thread or VCC: I believe it was listed as a Tim Sale Emma Frost/White Queen commission and it matches some of his earlier initial signatures. The buyer (and comiclink) contacted Tim Sale's agent who denied it was his so the sale was pulled. I no longer have the PM from who I purchased it from and cannot locate the sales thread to confirm. I am hoping the original seller is still around or someone can help me identify the artist; worse case I guess I can just hang it back up in the office once returned.
  7. I assume in-house signing are on a different timeline but I had to call an inquire about a shipment for Neil Gaiman Delivered: 7/17 Received: 8/15 That is a bit much to "check" in a submission, but at least it is officially on my account now.
  8. As others have stated most 80's/90's books are of very low value in general and the ones that do have value have to be in mint to hold that value. If you already have a list created just port it over to a google doc and link it here, any single issues that would benefit from grading will be pointed out.
  9. Seeing this again I will scream out into the void for a "golden age" custom label. There are thousands of comic characters in public domain that could be used in a small collage representative of the era. This would not incur any licensing costs to CGC, they could even use original drawings and photoshop them without having to commission new art. Miss Masque Captain Battle Miss Fury Captain Future Arrow Fantomah
  10. Can someone explain this to me like I am 5? Below are three graded promo card from the recent GenCon 2023 from the Ebay "card game". I own the first one (graded Gem Mint 10) This is the exact same card but only graded as a "sample"... why? And this is the exact same card graded a "Pristine 10". Given the label differences I assume a Pristine 10 is better than a Gem Mint 10 but why? how? what are the rules (they are not explained very well)? Can someone break this down for me? Thanks
  11. I would love to provide some clever answer, but in short you don't. While I keep up with current fads to some degree (tiktok, chat GPT, AI Art, especially new books) as the years rush forward I find myself less and less inclined to bother with various "new" things. While I by no means live in the past of nostalgia, I just don't really care as much to learn new things or pretend something "new" is actually new (you can only see differently angled marketing for swamp coolers that provide revolutionary newly discovered AC; before you start screaming at the adds). It is a balance of losing effort really; the scales start to tip and before you know it, you have been left behind shouting at those lazy youths of today.
  12. If you click on the "total graded by CGC" link it will take you to a direct census link (below) there are even Sig Series... lol. At least they are keeping track of QC errors on the registry
  13. I love that when you look up the certification number that they actually scanned the book too and there are seven of them in the registry! New Book #NN
  14. I toyed around with the idea of this but 2% of declared value (adjusted up if under valued) and shipping both ways for a sticker that didn't (at least at the time) add value if sold was a hard pass. Plus I am old and could never figure out how to find their submission form on their CGC look-a-like website, lol. If they went to more conventions and advertised I might swing by their booth with a couple books to check them out just for kicks to get my X-Men (1991) run some pretty stickers.
  15. A decade ago during the blank cover boom; I commissioned a Grim Fairy Tales Jam Book (posted in another thread). It was a complete disaster with some third grade level art. The artist threatened to call security on me when I finally tracked him down at his booth after claiming he had no idea about anything. He eventually blocked me on a couple social media sites so I guess I am banned.. lol.
  16. Just taking a quick look and there are defiantly some books that should be graded prior to selling (or putting into lots) if they are going to get a 9.8. Thinking about this situation and your husband working at the comic shop and getting these, are they all newsstands? (the 89-91 books).
  17. Thank you, there is always next year and the set will expand with at least two new variants.
  18. bumping this as it is being purposefully ignored by CS on all fronts (forums & email). All of my books had the HA certificate and I provided additional information when asked by a rep over email. All books included were returned without the pedigree label, despite being told other wise. No one will even give me the time of day as to why.
  19. Congrats to @epiclion for his X-Men (1991) set... I am rather envious
  20. I am sure you are well aware but a Cerebus #1 is worth a couple grand in stepped on condition after being left out in the rain. Since these books are from the 90's I assume it is from the High Society run but if not please get that graded and don't let anyone tell you it is drek that they will graciously take off our hands. Once you are to the point of selling off the lots you are not going to grade, let everyone (but me first) know!
  21. I think this is a labeling error, the reprint should refer to the comic not the signature... to bad you cannot send it in to be fixed.
  22. I love this series.. and always pick up the copies from the $1 bins, along with fish police, Tek war, Ex-Mutants, Malibu & Antartic books, which probably isn't what you want to hear. If you have everything already organized in a spread sheet you can take your time to look over the books and see what is valuable and what isn't. You have the right idea so far so just to reiterate: Select remove any book over $200 for grading; then consign the books to auction Group everything else into runs, character themes, or just lots and sell for what every you can get. Alternatively since you do have an excel spread sheet, contact comiclink or mycomicshop for consigning and have them select out anything of value to submit for grading and auction. Then sell everything else for pennies just to get rid of it. Once you get enough posts you can use the CGC selling forum, there are some of us who love drek and will likely buy it (and it will be an easier transaction). You might leave money on the table but the effort to squeeze that out isn't generally worth the time investment.
  23. Given some of the recent posts in other sub-forums, CGC losing books has increased.
  24. @wytshus has abandoned us in our hour of need.... just like that time in third grade at the zoo!
  25. saw the updated badges, didn't win anything but congratulations to everyone that will be announced!
