If you scroll up a couple posts there are some links to thread about posting pictures and formatting. It is a pretty terrible system that is on par with 2005 MySpace html editing, overall the entire registry could use a massive upgrade and rebuild but this is what we are stuck with. Once you read the linked threads you can use an online html code editor to preview and adjust as needed (or just do it in notepad and hope for the best). As for getting noticed, no one has that answer and CGC peeps do not seem keen on providing any way to call attention to yourself or to at least just say "hey I would like to be considered if you haven't noticed me", "here is a link to my registry". This is one of my biggest complaints with the registry, I get the feeling that CGC only begrudging tolerates it and would prefer if it just went away (as it is treated poorly). The registry should be celebrated, shown off, and pushed as a visual way for members to showcase collections (show off). They could do so much passive marketing though the registry but it just sits dead with most sets having not been updated in years. Even with all the above I do want see improvements and think it would be a good idea to at least have an official thread every July solely for a "hey look at my luscious set of books" or even a board member nomination thread of some type (started by a mod so that at least it looks like it is supported).

Cincinnati Comic Expo They will have Jim Lee, Scott Williams, and Alex Sinclair for prepaid signing. Everyone else is available at the show. Looking at the tickets there will be a facilitator present as they are offering CGC grading options for signatures but no information on who and it isn't on CGC event calendar. Does anyone know who the facilitator will be? I sent them an email but they haven't replied for over a week now. I would like to get 4 books done (maybe more depending on other guest lineups)

A question about what's hot and why
DougC replied to Mokiguy's topic in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions
I think you are confusing a comic collector and someone who fancies themselves a comic speculator/investor. Hype, generally only extends to prominent books should a LoSH series or movie drop you can assume with a good certainty Adventure #247 would see a pop over current market but not run of the mill appearances that a collector or fan of the team would buy like the four issue series from 73 or there appearances in the superboy title starting in 74. A fan will collect a title because they like it, a speculator buys and hypes a singular book because they think it will make them money. -
This Week In Your Plastic Crack, Action Figures and Toy Collection

A mint Jeff Long.... I was lucky enough to be able to play with these as a kid (hand me down from my father) and the awesome moonbase and vehicles -
You can be snarky about this but it is a valid question, especially if you are submitting a newer pedigree (Savannah/Twin Cities) book that does not have obvious markings. The "COA" from Heritage should be included as a photocopy for supportive evidence. Asking this in the newbie forum is perfectly fine and should be encouraged.

How often do CGC lose comics and what happens when they do?
DougC replied to Joe Fox's topic in Comics General
IIRC; they will "launch" and investigation and then if they can't find some noodley way to blame you, they eventually pay out what you claimed the value of the book was on the submission form. They used to offer to replace the book but I don't think they do that anymore. -
Where in the world was the Quality Control at CGC???
DougC replied to Wally's Comics's topic in Comics General
wait... you mean not everyone is sliding a crisp $20 in the centerfold of every book they submit? -
As a general rule you should never send ANYTHING to CGC that you expect to get back! If you must send something (pedigree cert) only send a copy not the original.

Where in the world was the Quality Control at CGC???
DougC replied to Wally's Comics's topic in Comics General
Unfortunately Terrible QC isn't the new hot thing, this book is encapsulated 04/30/2013 and I (or someone will have to pay to get it fixed). CGC Cert #0210145001 -
To follow-up on the above John Carpenter was added my photo last weekend (with James Hong & Alan Howarth). The last step is to have Alan add a secondary color to the music notes in July.

X- Force 16 reversed trading card
DougC replied to Blade2579's topic in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions
This is common and not an "error" outside of the best practices should be card facing out. It has the same value as other raw X-Force #16s. -
Comic print error? Or badly restored comic?
DougC replied to Arif_Ajeti's topic in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions
The light blue you are referring to is the same plate as the blonde's coat and the buildings trim. It looks to have been used to darken the jacket/hat of Mr Mustache. Nothing is wrong with the book this is just how they were printed with offsets not matching up sometimes. I think the bigger question is why you want to grade these instead of just buying already graded copies for what would likely be a cheaper option.- 8 replies

To add to the above: 130 Point Is a great sight not only for comics but all items; it has the same 90ish day limitations as ebay though. Short Boxed Is brand new and currently being pushed by CGC; I haven't used it much as it seems to just be a lesser knockoff of GPA

Recently Completed Signature Series Goal
DougC replied to The Man Without Beer's topic in The Signature Room
I know everyone gets 9.8 crazy (even me) but that many sigs from 2015 to current and still retaining a 9.6 is pretty amazing. -
I am pretty much finished with my setup and would like to thank everyone before me who did the html that I stole and those still in this thread ( @ADAMANTIUM ) that point people like me in the right direction on how to do things! Still need some minor grammar edits and dig out a couple books for pictures. Shooting to be included in modern or signature set award consideration X-Men V2 Signature Set

To tack onto this, instead of the back of the book I used samples of original art in the second slot of my set

Question about signed comics
DougC replied to MikeTheSpike's topic in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions
Turner is a popular artist so it will likely add a couple bucks to a raw sale, If you want it authenticated/slabbed you would need to use the "other guys". -
CGC In House Signing Wishlist - Update for 2023
DougC replied to StillOnly25Cents's topic in The Signature Room
Neal is going to be tough but I will still place a bet you could get him before Alan Moore would sign books for CGC. -
CGC lost 38 of my comics
DougC replied to comic-traders's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
They either found his books and completed the order or payed him out and he isn't allowed to post about it. -
New Release! CCG Presses Play on CGC Home Video Grading VHS tapes!
DougC replied to SpineTic's topic in Comics General
I have yet to find an individual that actually collects graded VHS, especially to some of the returns seen at auction. I know of tons of dealers that have graded VHS inventory and the auction houses they use to sell them but no actual person that specifically seeks out these as a collectable. -
Rick and Morty sketch cover gradings
DougC replied to Joe Papa's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
"Dry cleaning a comic to remove soiling and any unwanted substance is also considered a non-restorative process, and is included in the CGC pressing service when necessary." This is stated but rarely ever done due to how CGC fast presses comics under very high heat. The last time (over five years ago) when I specifically asked for a book to be dry cleaned prior to pressing they quoted me a much higher amount.
