  1. Chuck has done some despicable stuff like blaming hurricane victims for not buying comics and much more... but if you are looking for a modern he will have it. About five years ago I was looking for a 9.8 copy of X-Men Forever Apha Bookmarket Variant; this was an impossible issue at the best of times back in 2009 and even today your not going to find NM+ copies (I own all three that have been graded). I had feelers out everywhere and finally sucked it up and emailed MHC who had copies ready to sell locally. Obviously you cannot trust their grading so I took a trip and was very surprised with their customer service. They had about 20+ copies IIRC and allowed me to inspect and select the 5 best, afterwords they gave me a tour and talked about their inventory. Surprisingly Chuck will blind buy bulk (I took this from inference) from around the country which will not be gone through for multiple years as some of it is even stored paletted in 50ft trailers. Inventory overall was a huge problem as even if they go through something to select pull value, by the time they are finished what is "value" has changed again. People on the CGC forums are not MHS target audience; I have their newsletter subscribed on one of my email accounts and anything that is close to a raw key is snapped up quickly at their outrageous prices. I do not know who is buying X-Men(1991) #1s for $20 but someone is.
  2. As far as just production output I would say these guys are in high contention: Stan Lee Jim Lee Todd McFarlane As more of an outside shot these guys are prolific signers but probably not as much as the above Adam Hughes Greg Horn Chris Claremont Some that would have been on the list but have fallen off Arthur Suydam Dan Jurgens Over the last 3 years Jim Shooter has become a much more prolific signer and will likely climb up the list if he can continue making the number of appearances he does.
  3. I will be giving away 3 slabs this year! Shipping is on me for US/Canada; Overseas all I ask is $15 to assist. Vat/Customs are on you to pay. The Ghosts of Christmas Slab Commeth!!! #1 #2 #3 Also; I hope @HighRadArt resupplied his stock of drek; should he dare offer another mystery box...
  4. If you submit the HQ books they will either get a lower grade with a universal (blue) label and a notation of "names written on cover" or a qualified (green) label with the same notation; CGC will only verify signatures completed by an authorized witness. IMO these books will not benefit from being graded by CGC; given how prolific both signatures are I doubt it would be worth it to submit to the other guys as well. The NM98 is probably worth grading if it comes back at least 8.5 but the auctions are all over the place, on the 13th a Liefeld SS 8.5 sold for $250 but a couple days later a blue label CBCS 8.5 sold for $280, 30 days prior 8.5 blue labels were selling for $300ish.
  5. This is the actual hallmark of a truly "bad" movie; if you can remember what you didn't like about something you watched a week later it did it's job regardless of commercial success. It is often the reason a bad movie will get a sequel even after failing in the secondary market, furthering how bad it is as the budgets shrink.
  6. This looks to be Greatest Comics World: Golden City #NN here is the Perez copy:
  7. I watched the Marvels over lunch yesterday for a $6 matinee and still feel like I over paid. Going in I felt that Captain Marvel was overall not a bad movie just a bit self important with unfocused writing and bad direction. This was much worse; outside of Iman none of the actors looked like they wanted to even be there. Saying the performances were wooden with very dry delivery is an understatement. This was not help by a terrible script and overall writing; most of the interactions lacked emotional appeal, with every scene between Monica and Carol seemly forced as they "talked" through dialogue dumps meant to describe, resolve, and create the interpersonal conflict between them. The movie suffers from the "everything needs to be undermined with humor" turned up to 11 that crippled the last Thor movie. The jokes don't land and even worse many just do not make sense, so much so that the villain threat is constantly undercut by this humor leaving you questioning why you should even care about the villain, cause the hero's don't take her seriously. At least in Thor: Love and Thunder there is the framework of a good movie hiding within that was hamstrung by poor decisions (director or executive). I do not see the same with Marvels and it suffers additionally from actors/directors comments outside of the movie informing you that you are the problem not the bad movie.
  8. I think this just might be a non-referenced fun drawing and we are looking to much into it for character meaning. I did take a swing at it from a different angle thinking the below drawing looked familiar but didn't turn up anything meaningful outside of a ton of parody art (not from Tim).
  9. As long as the FF 46 isn't restored/incomplete and the ASM is at least fine; $120 together isn't that bad in raw. FF46 in 4.0-5.0 is around $150ish graded (there looks to be one 4.5 outlier @ $99) TBH; the best way to learn is probably to make bad deals on sub $100 books until you really understand what you are buying/selling and the potential market. You may have knowledge in the area but not the intuitive experience needed; comics is rarely a profit quick environment.
  10. If you send this to CGC it will either get a lower grade with a blue label (if you request it) or a green label with "name written on cover" in notes. Neither are what most would want. If you want the signature recognized you will have to go with the other guys. All in all if you want to sell this you are going to have to find a buyer not the other way around which will be more difficult as you live outside of the US. You may just want to keep this as is and have it as a memory.
  11. But what if you are not human.... asking for a friend
  12. As this is a SS book it might be under SS for the selection submission type; the last time I sent in a group for reholdering SS books I didn't select it but do not remember if they up charged me.
  13. If there is still time you should reach out to Stuart Sayger for his Kiss and Alice Cooper covers/prints... they are awesome. Stuart is a great guy and very active on FB.
  14. There is no official way that CGC will allow you to search with that type of accuracy (same if you want to know about pedigree/double covers/etc). This would be a great feature to implement but I also do not believe they want you to have that type of information currently.
  15. I am no doubt treading on thin ice making this post as I have been banned/restricted from even viewing the registry subforum. This post is not made in retaliation against that action but to add context to the changes being made to the registry as I believe the statement provided to me by Mike sums up CGC's stance and is what should have been stated when this started so there would not be any questions: The Registry is a free resource, operating at the discretion of the company, and it is at the company's discretion to make any changes as it sees fit. It is also at the company's discretion as to how and when any changes are announced and implemented.
  16. @Dr. Balls Probably last update: Sandra coming in clutch with the information!
  17. ing AUGUST!!!! I really don't want this to be true after everything that happened prior; please be satire or a fake account... If not; Your money is gone; you might still be able to do a charge back if you payed via CC though. Hopefully your book will be returned but he was not supposed to be accepting any work. Edit: Unfortunately I don't have any useful advice; I am not connected with the current goings on or in the loop with what is happening. All of my information after the fact was second hand and what the desired resolution was supposed to be.
  18. Congratulations on your new CGC 9.6 book you will receive....
  19. Not a problem; I also reached out to the art rep that had these back in 2019 but haven't had a reply. For others who are searching; I checked the PDF's of Previews Magazine looking for solicitations of the 1996 November/December issues but either no image was provided or the cover art for the actual issue was used. I assume if these saw publication it will have been a TPB collection or clipped and used for adds; I haven't checked any of the trading cards though.
  20. You have probably heard this before; I could have sworn this was a pin up in one of the "Starting Over: Deluxe Edition" books but while very similar (guns, poses) it is a different image by different artists. I'll look through some of my Image TPB/Sketch books from this time frame later in the week as I love a good hunt and I have the drek to for it. Edit: I also assume you know of this piece titled #15 PROMO
  21. This is second hand information. The purpose of filing this in a court was two fold: To show intent and how serious the matter was, some believed that Mike just "didn't get how serious this was" or "want to get it". To force an inventory of potentially missing books, those still in need of restoration, and those untouched. A corresponding customer list so property could be returned once the above is completed. Money itself was never the overall goal (it was long gone), forcing responsibility and the return of personal property was.
  22. The last I heard (September) Mike was returning all books that were never worked on with a letter stating the permanent closure of HR (keeping the money). I don't believe anyone will have first hand information that they can disclose currently, but the initial settlement push was to have Mike inventory, detail any unfinished process, and return all books to their owners. I was not party to any mediation prior to the very serious push to litigate in August so am unsure if anything actually moved forward in the courts.
  23. I would love to believe this but "CGC lost my books" threads are starting to become scarily common, so obviously there are issues that are not being addressed.
  24. I absolutely love the Elektra DD costume: I think this was fan art but I really like this Cpt. Marvel redisign: The 90's Rogue costume is the best but also would have liked to see more of her Shi'Ar costume: Not much of a change but the black body suit with the yellow trench coat really made the Vampire Jubilee character:
