  1. Nice Unexpected #161. I have a handful of books left in that series---THAT is one of them. That wouldn't happen to be an extra #161 would it?
  2. More frightful morsels entered into my hallowed vault.
  3. Nice Pre Code from St John Publishing: Fast forward ~30 years... Hard to believe that war was his raison d'etre, could've fooled me.
  4. Yes thank you for that suggestion---I was kinda bummed about some of the other threads and figured we needed to pay kind tribute.
  5. Let's celebrate Joe Kubert with your favorite Kubert drawing, cover, original art/commission, or signature series. If Joe did it, and you're proud of it, let's see it! I'll miss you Joe!!!
  6. http://www.comichron.com/yearlycomicssales.html Look at Batman's figures for example: http://www.comichron.com/titlespotlights/batman.html Slow decline from 60 to 66 where it doubles (TV show no doubt) and then falls like a precipitice in the 70s. Cool stuff.
  7. I'd love to see a histogram showing the rise and fall of the number of comics sold in a given year from 1940s to present. I think it would paint a bloody picture.
  8. (thumbs u I did a group shot of my ghosts books a while back...brings a tear when you think of the work involved just to get those x number of books into one collection.
  9. Wow. That's customer service. Probably easier to let you keep it than to deal with the shipping charge back.
  10. I took video of mine too! Yeah, that sounds pure evil. What I was referring to was when the lamp warms up, it would scan beyond the parameters of the bed and you would get that same noise, just slightly less evil.
  11. I use VueScan on my HP 8200 and if the software has to "warm the lamp" after closing the software I sometimes get that grinding noise. Definitely software based problem. I have to shut off the scanner to reset it. Not sure if that's your problem, just saying it's not always hardware. BTW, I'm a BIG fan of VueScan---got the recommendation here years ago. It is scanner/driver INDEPENDENT. No need for that bloated software that comes with your scanner. Lots of tweaks possible. I've tweaked mine to my personal perfection tastes.
  12. Actually, so was I. According to title creator Leo Dorfman, DC even dismissed the title...even surprised it was a consistent seller---maybe the simple word "Ghosts" was enough? There definitely wasn't a huge variance in the "victim gets revenge from beyond the grave" theme. Let's face it...HOM outshines the others by a mile...but I still have a place for all of 'em
  13. I love this Infinity Cover! One of the firsts I was exposed to.
  14. Wow missed this thread. I think we should have a R&D sub forum just to keep info like this from being lost. Instant classic.
  15. Ghost Town and the others: sorry for the problem with the Gecko. Since all of these scams involve PP, I might suggest collaborating with the other board members and/or ask PP how many complaints he's had with PP in the last 60 days...that should set off alarms for them. Nice to hear he's closed the complaint...but I'm guessing PP saw the situation for what it was.
  16. Upgrades and registry set fine tuning I've recently upgraded many issues on my Ghosts registry set. Now only 5 issues remain: 1 (I sold my 9.4 because I want a 9.6 or better), 47, 50 (upgrade my 9.2), 57, 81. I've recently uploaded all images to the registry set and made my descriptions easier to read. Hoping 2013 will be the year I can close this one out! 17. The key difference is anthology vs repeating character. It would be like saying Creature Commandos in Weird War was horror (snicker). But I agree the occult aspect of Phantom Stranger makes it enough for me too to consider it horror.
  18. Hells to the yeah! Post them Phantoms! We've had Man-Wolf and Man-Thing posted , so no worries.
