  1. Nice engagement photos! http://www.regretsy.com/2011/08/22/how-to-take-engagement-photos/
  2. Ya, this thread is months old and finding ol' Shiverbones up to his eyeballs in cats and skulls. No doubt the best thread in years! Nice work, Matthew!
  3. +1 Still not casually available in high grade as surrounding issues, either.
  4. I'm not sure why, either! This should be considered a "mini key" if nothing else...I personally liked the I, Vampire series...it had better depth and sophistication than the Peril (which really came to us courtesy of Silver Age) and Mister E imho. Granted shows like "Dark Shadows" heavily influenced the tone and direction but I hope the series gets its due one day. Amazing that Kubert's style allowed him to draw this (and kick arse) and then go do another awesome Sgt. Rock and GIC cover that's just as riveting. Don't forget that there's a Batman cover swipe of this as well!
  5. Upgrade of my 9.4...shameful that CGC doesn't notice this as the first appearance of Andrew Bennett...
  6. Agreed! Just realized that's the cover used for the DC Showcase Presents that reprints the first 19 issues of WH. The reprint does not do justice to the original. Reprints are just cheap ways to read the stories...and I agree that in some cases the b&w hacks the original intent. Depending on the artist, however, I've seen an enhancement of the content. Been meaning to get some of the Showcase Presents lately...they make nice Christmas presents!
  7. Agreed...shifting priorities make it difficult--but I agree!
  8. shame on you good sir BB is one of the best ongoing shows on tv at the moment go treat your self to season 1 I wasn't looking to disparage BB as it does look like a really good show. I even like the lead actor who was good in Malcolm in the Middle. And I will probably at some point catch up on that show. I merely meant that I am more interested in seeing the WD preview then catching BB (thumbs u The bathtub scene in EP2 was about all I can handle...funny I can handle flesh eating zombies...but not that.
  9. This sounds crazy, but I mentioned this theory a few issues ago...remember the Gov's loss of his daughter to the epidemic...the Gov's then inncoent thought of helping the community? Remember Rick's dark streak while in prison? There are so many parallels here it's actually uncanny. Could this be Rick's fall to the Dark Side?
  10. Anyone else fall asleep reading #86? I'm not feeling it, Kirkman. I guess that means you have to kill someone now...sigh.
  11. Except for the one in obvious view, the rest just look like normal society .
  12. The bolded part better not happen. Could go the other way. Michonne kills Rick when she sees him as becoming like the governor. I'm actually hoping that what we saw with the reunited effort is Rick's slow turn to the dark side as he is fanatic to keep his son safe. He's frankly not a character I care about anymore. BTW, the Gov had a daughter...hmmmm..... time to invent Zombrex?
  13. At least two for me...lots of nice little subplots but the never-ending fight for survival is wearing me out.
  14. Good info, as I couldn't find anything. My only comment is: if you are playing multiple characters during the course of the game...that will only serve to disconnect the player from the story imo unless VERY well crafted...although obviously playing as different characters will accompany different styles/techniques that will be fun to technically play (who DOESN'T want to wield a sword and swoop through a dozen zombies in no time flat?--btw, anyone remember Nightmare Creatures?) Turning back to the comic, I feel that the time in the prison was a great opportunity for a fixed location to drive home some of the storyline potential (although it can be argued he stayed there too long) and as such the community rebuild could be fertile ground for similar dispositions. I've been puzzled that after a dozen or so issues in the community we haven't seen much except for Jessie's family, which has now been dismembered (Kirkman, I hope you know that was a waste to save Jessie from an abusive relationship only to have her die a few issues later). We can all agree to disagree as to which character is worthy but the general feeling is we need less soundbytes from the cast and focus more on the key players so we can become more vested in them. That way, when Kirkman does his "no one is safe" routine we'll have something to complain about ! I feel like I am getting a "tease" from Kirkman on many of the characters but simply doesn't flesh them out. Kirkman, please fix!! I'm wondering if the Gov's start was as ambitious as Rick's is now. Anyone else seeing some eerie similarities? Did the Gov start out "acting in the group's best interests" only to become rabid with power? Thanks all for your thoughts on the series...nice to have a decent discussion...and some of the thoughts here have crossed my mind as well. Let's keep it coming!
  15. I'm very much into Zombie video games...not sure how TWD brand in video games would be servicable. If it becomes a story, it will be a story we've already seen. If it becomes a slayfest...then people will say "why did this need the TWD brand on it." Perhaps a good middle-ground would be a parallel-story line that leads into a current or future arc of grand scale. I'm looking forward to Dead Island...have you guys seen the teaser trailer? I'd swear this was a movie. But not sure how a video game on TWD would work well. Ok folks...time for a reality check...nothing really going on in TWD since #48 of any real consequence, and there hasn't been an arc worthy enough to get remotely close to the Gov. There's been lots of POTENTIAL places Kirkman could've gone in storytelling but he's remained relatively sedate. I'm not talking about the surprise killing off of characters. He's got that down pat. It's time for a seriously different direction and frankly I don't think he wants to go there. He cares not to go into the real reason for the crisis and how the rest of the world is coping. At the same time, he's not building enough depth to the characters before either they get killed and/or they get "nullified" by other events. For example: why did Jessie have to die? The loss of her son would've made for a powerful connection for the two that was just blooming. But no, Kirkman thinks the "shock n awe" approach is golden. Nope. It's getting old. As a consequence, none of the characters that we've met since #48 haven't provided me much reason to care. A thoughtless jerk who cheats and a gutless preacher? No thanks. For some reason, suspicious and devious behavior is interesting enough to keep around but without a raison d'etre for the series why should the reader care? Who do you care about in the series and why? I guarantee that most can't even name the new characters for the most part, much less care about their history, actions or behavior. If you did care, they probably died. Personally, I think he needs to change things up...otherwise I'm afraid it's becoming all too familiar. I'm sure there are others thinking the same thing. I'd like a decent discussion because I'm not totally enthralled with the current direction. Maybe I have high expectations. Dunno. Bottom line is, it's not as entertaining as it used to be. All IMO of course. A concerned TWD fan.
  16. Fonzie has just jumped the shark. I just heard about the video game. Meanwhile, quality story telling on these series has continued to drop. I do appreciate the on time schedule though...but now they are killing us with exposure. What Kirkman...another surprise death? yawn....
  17. Yep--Thanks for sharing that book RA...I believe someone here told me they had the 9.2...my copy looks pretty darn good and is only a 8.5. One of the few "lowly" graded books still resident in my HOM collection!
  18. I agree--TOD is MY favorite Marvel monster book. It kinda went south for me with the whole baby / Drac goes to hell storyline, as well as the superhero overlap...but yes it holds up well as compared to the other titles. It also lasted for much longer than other titles. Gene Colan's prime achievement imo. I have less respect for Frankie and WBN, however. The mummy isn't even in my radar.
  19. Based on my "favorite bronze horror" voting when I started the thread, the top five are: 1. House of Mystery 2. House of Secrets 3. Tomb of Dracula 4. Werewolf by Night 5. Witching Hour It appears a mixture of DC anthology and the Marvel monster titles are both winners!
  20. Upgrade of my 9.4. Last issue of same title; next ish is the last of the gothic love covers for series. Still looking for a kick-arse #18. 9.0 is still highest graded.
  21. Is the latest issue the end of the current story line (No Way Out pt. 5)? Kirkman's writing has gotten lazy to the point that I can no longer read it an issue at a time. same here. Totally lackluster to the end of this story line--he needs new methods of story telling or tricks...nothing seems to be moving anywhere fast. It seems that since the Gov the story and direction has been wandering aimlessly---a lot of IDEAS but nothing coming to fruition.
