Definitely “green” artwork, they are constantly being recycled.

They have this one listed as 1960 versus 1970, hopefully they correct it. I like it even thought it is getting late for my collecting interest.

I probably have a very different perspective that’s you. My wife is black, my son is black. Watching people jump through mental gymnastics to play the “yeah but” game is disappointing versus just saying, yes, it is racist. You say I am moving the goal post which I am not. I did not limit my statement to “how the character was drawn”. Everything about the character was racist. You jump to what aboutism. If someone drew a character with racist tropes, it is racist. I don’t care if it is someone who is Irish to Italian. Similarly a lot of Timely’s have racist representation of Asians. I don’t need to jump through the a bunch of hoops say “yeah but the war” or “maybe their editor held a gun to their head and made them draw it”. You can have what ever opinion you want and you can express it in any way you want. I myself am just very surprised to see yours and others opinion.

All I can say to your post is just wow, no matter how far we have come we still have a LONG way to go. This thread has been very eye opening to me.

It is impossible to know with any degree of certainty what was in the mind of who drew this so I am not going to do any mental gymnastics to justify it. I just have to look at it and draw my conclusion it is racist. When it was drawn doesn’t matter, what people deemed “acceptable” doesn’t matter, it is still racist.

There is a bunch of stuff coming up that I am interested in. It seems like Heritage has a never ending stream of material coming to auction. I hope prices are depressed.

I have no idea where you are from but definitely glad I am not living near you.

The character is Whitewash Jones, a black character that mapped into every black stereo type of the times Whitewash Jones

The artwork is pretty interesting plus it has the super racist image in the top panel. Will be interesting to see where it goes

Thanks for the links! I have either bought when they 1st came out at the local comic store or more recently bought off EBay. eBay prices vary drastically so if you are patient you can get some smoking deals on stuff. -

All three of those titles are expensive to finish off! I still need several of the later ones for the Amazing Spider-Man. I consider myself a bottom feeder so trying to buy stuff less than $30 all in but I am getting to a place where I am going to have to up how much I pay. Good luck finishing those titles ! -

I spent some time trying to find out what was planned for future release and had zero luck. I ended up just being content with the Wikipedia list which I used to see what I wanted to pick up. So far I have over 50 issues. I am buying to read post retirement. -
When I bought my Sal splash back in the early 2000s I thought the price was a bit crazy but not anymore, especially given it has Tom Palmer inks

I would have bid more aggressively but need to save my money to chase something coming up. I love the Sprang reproductions, the colors are amazing but I have one already which I love.
