  1. He does seem Ok in his movie cameos, which from all accounts he loves. As for signings - I don't have one, but would love one - but not at the detriment of a 95+ yr old guy who quite frankly should be lying in the sun sipping a pina colada with a shapely young lass. Leave the guy in peace, and let him enjoy his last years. I'll buy a SS Stan Lee comic on here, or through a trusted guy like Joey or Adam - not his "minders" Go enjoy your life Stan!
  2. God I love your shop. My wife and I are seriously considering something similar if we can find the right spot. Can I ask - does having your shop detract from the hobby, or do you find it enriches it as you discover more new things? Keep posting pictures mate - it's wonderful!
  3. So a bit of this, and a bit of that really. Long runs of Supes, Flash, GL, GA, JLA etc etc - all sequential and a solid 8.5 - 9.0 average. Someone will take them off my hands,I'm sure. One box had a TTA #14 and a heap of Gold Key in, so that was Ok. The usual mini-series - Amethyst,Sun-Devil, Ultra-Realm etc etc - all complete. The better series were there: V (Visitors) V for Vendetta Watchmen etc A nice quantity of 12c DC's inc a lovely lot of Metal Men, Super-Boy and Hawkman. Typical Teen-Titans runs inc all 4 Judas Contract - I only had a short look, so I'm sure #2 is there somewhere, likewise Firestorm #1. Shazzaam, inc #1 and #30 A few more couldn't be arsed to pull out - year 1,etc Some Treasuries, and 3 really nice portfollio's inc Watchmen, Superman and Batman - about 60 prints in all. Plus these in picture, so quite happy overall. I'll send a couple for slabbing. Worked out to be about 3500 comics in total
  4. No, had a brief look at a couple of boxes - I can be very stupid - but not that much! I had about 2 minutes to make my mind up - guy seemed genuine, was at his house and paid via paypal so all good. Having looked at about 50% now - 'fine collector' is just about spot on! There was the odd interesting issue or two though..... Nothing too exciting, but will post after I have a very quick skim through the rest
  5. Been a while since circumstances allowed me to pursue my collecting habit, but things have changed for the better so I can go out and about again - found this pile at a house sale! $700 - all DC from 1970's - 1990's Expecting a heap of drek - will update in due course. Genuinely have no idea - a hit and run job, as others were closing in. All comics bagged, said the seller. Lots of good stuff, said the seller. Another bloke coming in a few minutes, said the seller. Sold, said I. Whats in the boxes..... (and what the hell just happened to my camera??)
  6. It seems to be all happening today on this thread - best thread on the site. Todays market trip yielded some weird and wonderful stuff (if you like them!) 35 Bronze horror books Assorted Star wars books (with posters etc) + 4 book box set 2 x Arsenal membership boxes (what the heck they were doing in an Australian Market, I have no idea......) Aussie horror book Assorted marvels (inc poor Ms Marvel #16) Invincible hardcover Ultimate Collections 3 + 4 35 x Life magazines mostly from 1960's (I got them to read - not worth much here) Total $60 USD
  7. Hard to follow on from that..... Picked up a box of 1940's - 1950's knockout comics. Also 4 yrs worth of Champion comics 1946 - 1950. Lovely books. There was a bag as well and in it..... An Athletes Participation medal from the 2000 Sydney Olympic games! Second one I have found in the last 6 months. No idea what it was doing in there, came with a bunch of Rugby Union sporting items. Result!
  8. Thanks very much - appreciated.
  9. No-one knows these guys? They have quite a few cgc books for sale - I just want to buy one, and they won't accept emails from outside USA. Their website says 'contact us via ebay' so it's a circle. If someone knows them, I just need an email address. Thanks
  10. Hi Does anyone here know if these guys are members? Nothing bad at all, just want to discuss shipping but their website won't accept overseas emails for some reason. Thankyou
  11. Interloping again, but as this is the Aussie thread really... Another Bluey and Curley - fair only, but a nice 1954 B+C Annual
  12. Thankyou - that's why I love this place. I was struggling to find much info, so this is a great starting point You are a star (unlike Willie apparently!)
  13. Bit crappy for Chandler though - poor kid only found out 2 weeks before his 18th birthday, and the kid just bought his first house. I don't think Gimple liked him.....
  14. Another day another weird one. Luckily continued to find another 'Bluey and Curley' - fair only, and of course, a head in a ball. Who doesn't need one of these?
  15. Here is the Japanese /PNG stuff (just a sample) - the paper feels waxy on the instruction leaflet (1 + 2) and aged (3 +4) Either way, I would love to know more about these (obviously I'm looking as well...)
  16. Plus this. And I'd like some advice here A film canister with film in great condition marked "SVE Producers Of Visual Aids" "Willie Mouse 'The Cat and The Bell' Walter Lantz" Its from 1938 Anyone got any info, I'd be thrilled!
  17. Another day, another batch of weird stuff - auction and garage sale. 120 *ahem* 'gentlemens' magazines - all fine to sell on ebay (who am I to Judge!) WW2 Newspaper Games Assorted magazines and comics Amazing 1923 Australian Rules Premiership team photo - I love it! Couple of awesome GA Aussie comics Some WW2 stuff that I need to check are genuine, but appear to be a stack of labels in English and Paua New Guinean that were given to Japanese Prisoners by British Troops so that the locals would not kill them (the war in PNG with Aus v Japan was horrifically brutal) Pile of 1966 Topps Foldees
  18. Indeed you should Andrew, it was a great thread, and I know non-Australians liked it as well. Maybe Arch has it furtively hidden somewhere in his sack and he can produce it as a Christmas Treat?
  19. So, as we are liking all things Australian, a couple of Golden Age Aussie 1940's comics for you all to hopefully enjoy!
  20. Don't really know how all this works as I only have one yellow label book. I have a Strain #1 which I'd like signed by Guillermo Del Toro. I now have an Alias #1 signed by Krysten Ritter Does anyone know if he/she is signing somewhere at anytime, and if so, I assume I just send the book to a facilitator who is going to wherever he/she may be signing stuff? If anyone knows someone, or is intending on going to a con where Guillermo Del Toro and/or Krysten Ritter is attending and is on CGC's list of facilitators, can you please post. Books will be in Florida in about a weeks time and will be posted to whoever from there. Thankyou
  21. Wow Andrew - I hadn't realised you had lost so many pics! Especially the Wings "Aussie style" issues. If I may, I'd like to add 2 comics to your thread. The first one - I will pay almost anything within reason to get a copy of this book - I had it once, and sold it as a package to a USA overseas collector. The biggest regret of my comic collecting journey. Yes, Australia's own Daredevil #1. This one will haunt me for the rest of my life.. The next is one of Australia's oldest comics, and is not often seen. I don't think I have posted it on here before. Picked it up at an auction. Better condition, and I would have sent it off to be slabbed, but the whole spine is split and the rust has caused some bad staining. Ben Bowyang #1 from 1937 I hope you don't mind me posting Andrew, but I haven't been on the boards too often lately to see that a lot of your wonderful threads had 'poofed'. PM me if you want me to delete anything - it's your thread!
  22. It hit $200 so I didn't bother bidding. Now I'm wondering what was in it! I guess that's the whole point - "what was in the box" Maybe next time!
  23. I hear what you are all saying and 100% agree. I have a 1% expectation of finding a haul of comics or games that will be worth anything. It's for the thrill of the chase - and I'm aware most will be full of drek, so as I stated before, I have strict rules before even thinking about buying one. 1) Nothing larger than I can fit in the boot of my car - so no furniture, fridges etc. Those units are out. 2) There is a charity shop less than 2km away - all unsellable (but unbroken and clean) stuff can be dropped off there 3) Any non-comic stuff of value can go to a local auctioneer where I have an account - just drop it off and they put it in a sale. 4) Utter trash will just go in the bin I am looking at one storage unit. It is half full of taped up plastic containers about 45cm x 60 cm. There is a visable remote controlled truck, and a large book clearly marked 'autographs', plus very large stuffed toys x 2 (off to charity shop!!) . So I'm hoping that the owner may also have collected the odd comic or Atari etc as well. There is no furniture or white goods, so mostly everything is smallish, sealed and completely unknown, but the autograph book suggests sports or TV/Music interest - and comics/ video games aren't too much of a stretch from there. And yes, I'm sure if I buy it, it will be full of old socks and ties, all packed into plastic containers!! It's for a bit of fun, if I find something, great. It's also very cheap as there aren't many bidders (on every unit) as it's still a new concept here. If not, and it's a pain to do all the shifting, then I probably won't do it again very often, if ever. But whilst it's really quite new here, and therefore not many bidders, probably best I have a go now than later. As I said in my opening post - I only got on to this as someone contacted me via one of my 'wanted to buy' ads - selling comics that they bought out of a unit on the same site I'm looking at. So they are out there. Comics are still not sought after in Australia - the vast majority of folks don't realise that there is value in them, so I find most of mine in house clearance sales or via my WTB ads. People seem to just leave them in a box or in the attic. But I am still aware that its a 100-1 shot - at best!
  24. Thanks guys I'm getting from this - approach with caution, buy smaller lockers and have a disposal plan. I may have a go at one and see what I find - most seem to go between $50 - $500 If I get anything I will let you know - but am being realistic about my chances.
