  1. Gabe, how are you doing with the NYX #4, New Gods #7, Betty and Me #16, two copies of UXM #221 and 4 copies of Black Lightning #1? What did you pay? Sell any of them yet?
  2. So buying a book under market and you can't sell it under market so your solution is to buy books OVER market and wait for the market to catch up...hopefully...one day...after an announcement or trailer...or something like that. Sense you have made much of. No the idea was to buy the comic under gpa by at least half but that didn't work out. Also this is black panther's 2nd app we're talking about here which is currently undervalued and 1st app of Klaw. No mess it didn't work out. Did someone hold a gun to your head and say you have to buy this book or else? So what if its currently undervalued. You are playing the same game you were playing last buy. A lottery game that ST would "increase" or that DV3 would "increase" you have to hold these books for MONTHS without ever being able to put them on the market. Not necessarily you can always it up for cheaper then your competition and sell it off that way. Yes I'll have to wait months on them but the other times are because I fully didn't listen to my friend I'll give you examples DV 3 - His Advice Buy them as cheap as you can What I did I bought them 3 days later after he told me and the price was already hyped up What he did Contacted local lcs's and bought under cover price and was buying them under the radar for a year now. ST157 His advice Buy copies you find cheap but only buy one or two be careful What I did Bought the first copy I saw that was cheap What he did Only purchased them in lots with other comics FF53 Buy them as it's undervalued and a no brainer and undervalued What I did Bought copies about two years ago and a 7.0 recently What he did Buys copies cheap and lowballs if they say no he walks away if they don't he buys them Who is this anonymous sage? Is he a boardie? A Facebook pal? Also, are you "no longer/taking a break from buying" because your PayPal account is drained?
  3. 12 Month GPA $132, 90 Day GPA: $102 Last Sale: $115 Definitely looking to hold until Black Panther comes out in...2018. Also, has his October 21st pick up the NYX #4, New Gods #7, Betty and Me #16, two copies of UXM #221 and 4 copies of Black Lightning #1 been discussed yet?
  4. Yes selling comics is what I like doing because it's of no personal threat to me other than my bank account if I make too many mistakes. Yes because financial instability, especially when a person already can't support themselves, has no bearing on a person's overall well-being whatsoever. This line of thinking just proves that you are out of touch with reality and really need to stop selling and actually get help. This times a million But the same displacement from reality precludes the judgment and self control to quit It's not displacement from reality but separating what's what, I know what not having money can do to a person's believe me but I'm also prioritizing what will do the most harm to me. That said I pointed out the my financial stability is not effected by the comics I buy because I know my limits. You are prioritizing all the wrong things. What will do the most harm to you is not actually getting professional help to address your multitude of physical/emotional/learning issues (example: any update on the dermatologist so you can shower every day?) and not actually taking steps in securing skills for meaningful long-term employment. You DON'T know your limits. You know it is interesting that you are always very quick to point out your physical and emotional limitations, but absolutely REFUSE to acknowledge the fact that...Get ready for it...YOU ARE NOT GOOD AT THIS COMIC FLIPPING THING. Your financial stability is not impacted by comic flipping? How much in the hole are you again? How much worse would you have been if KPR did not buy that ASM #129 from you? How much WORSE would your standard of living be if you were not being supported by mom and dad? You have no degree. No skilled trade. You can't or refuse to do manual labour. How can you rationalize buying four figure books when you can't stand on your own two feet? No proper thinking person can and neither can you. It is like you are living in the Upside Down World. Do you have a life plan? A timeline of where you would like to be and how you will actually get there beyond "to buy and sell a million dollar comic"? That is not a plan. That is not even PART of a plan. It is either delusion, laziness ignorance, immaturity or a sad mix of all four. Please have your counsellor read through this thread and see what they say.

  6. Minor update - Apparently I can bring my own table at no extra cost...So, I am going to bring one of my own six foot tables so I don't have to put any boxes on the floor. Handy to have a pick up truck I can borrow whenever I want.
  7. Once a book received GRADED status, how long typically until they are SHIPPED/SAFE? I use the sub tracking but I never know exactly what date received, scheduled for grading, graded to shipped/safe ...This is going to be an incredibly dumb question but how do you get these exact dates other than do you just keep checking?
  8. Yes, his mom knows better and told him it isn't safe for a 23 year old to go out trick or treating, meanwhile a bunch of 10 year olds are running around the neighborhood in scary costumes going trick or treating. I'll mention this again since you may have forgotten, I don't live in the safest of neighborhoods and taking a car would be the safer solution and it's faster. Do you live in Niagara Falls, NY or Canada? NY I could understand this statement, but Ontario. Who tells you this, your Mom who watches the news? Jim Probably from watching FOX News...Where do you think Gabe gets his political savvy? Also, he is in Canada.
  9. That wan't my mom being mean but yes I wasn't joking when I said I wanted to go for Halloween I thought you said you chose not to go trick or treating. Are you saying your mom told you you can't go and then you decided not to? Yes I said that I wanted to go but when my mom told me I couldn't go that was that. I'll give you some candy little boy!
  10. Thanks I have my eye on a few copies I'm tempted to say something sarcastic because you seem to have missed my point. But instead I will be direct: My point is that you overpaid. Again. I'm not saying the value won't increase, but how much do you expect the value to increase? Enough to make that buy worth it since you overpaid. Have you done any basic comparative trend analysis with similar books? Do you even know what that is or how to do it? What makes you think it will be worth your investment for the price you paid? How much did Strange Tales 126 go up with the 1st app of Clea and Dormammu in that grade? Or a similar book like 1st app Collector? Do you realize that you still live in Canada which means you probably paid more for shipping to get the comic and will probably have to charge more for shipping to sell the comic and that reduces your realizable margins on BOTH ends? Especially since you already bought it about FMV? Please stop buying comics, you will lose, and continue to lose until you get professional help for your issues, more education, or a full time job. Please stop assuming you'll 'figure it out' and 'learn as you go'. Has anything in your life been successful that way? Its like thinking you can play hockey other than the fact that you can't skate. You WILL NOT LEARN HOW TO SKATE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE GAME. There will be occasions where you take a few steps in the right direction, but you'll either fall or get knocked down over and over and over. Which is not to say there isn't some amount of honor in continuing to get up after falling, just that its no good to anyone, including yourself. And people yelling from the sidelines won't help you skate any better either, no matter how well those people skate. Please note that 'skating' in this scenario IS NOT BUYING AND SELLING CHEAPER COMICS OR COLLECTIBLES. Skating is gaining either through work (like at a job where people pay you) or education (organized school) actual business and analytical skills that will help you make logical, reasonable, basic, economic decisions. Learning to skate should not occur in a competitive environment, so that you can fall and get back up without real consequence. As always, I'm sure you will ignore this advice because it doesn't fit your fantasy narrative of how you think your life will be greatly improved if you could only string together some consecutive flipping successes. As if going to a yard sale and pulling a $500 for $5 magically makes you good at math or gives you better hygiene or cures your learning disability. All it would do is make you overconfident leading to more poor decisions. You keep thinking its just about a couple hundred dollars in losses, but its really about your decision making abilities, which impact not just your wallet but every part of your life. To answer your question all the comics you've mentioned have been shipped to my friends address which will save me money since the buyers are in the states. Yes I've done some comparing with listing that have sold in the same grade and go from 20-60 bucks. I know I have a lot to improve on but I'm working at is and yes I'm sure you're tired of hearing it. I want to point out that with Aphra it's been going as I said so far, the cheaper comics will sell to be replaced with more expensive copies which they will sell when the time is right. I'll also say that I did get the timing wrong but only by a couple days unlike last time but that credit goes to my friend. I'm curious, can you show me where they've sold for $20 to $60? They're ebay sold listings LINK I'm not seeing it. At least for your stated grade range (G+ - G/VG). I was talking about 126 which is what I was basing what the 157 will be close to eventually So 126 is selling for $20 to $60 in your grade range and compares well with #157? Good luck but I don't see it. There is a big difference between #126 which features the first appearance of Dr. Strange primary antagonist (Dormammu) and major Strange supporting character (Clea) and#157 in that the Living Tribunal is a little used cosmic entity type character. I think when comparing ST #126 to ST #157, you are trying to draw similar comparisons between two completely different books, one features major characters integral to the Strange mythos and the other, does not. You KNOW Dormammu is going to be the big bad in a Strange movie at some point. Don't get me wrong, ST #157 is a nice silver age book to have with a neat first appearance but I doubt it will light up. A slight bump? Sure. Something though to make it worth your while to buy and sit on for a long time? Doubtful. Where did you get this tip that ST #157 was going to be a hot book?
  11. Raw/Grade? Graded/Grade? Complete? Coverless? Did you go out and get candy last night? Raw and complete about a 2.5/3.0 and no I wasn't allowed to get candy. Personal or for resale? Says who My mom did Wait wait wait are you being serious here? That your mom had to tell you it is "not cool" for a 22 year old to go trick or treating?
  12. Yes he is. He has a friend who he has his US buys shipped too...Guess he neglected to advise you of that or change his PayPal?
  13. .. perhaps you should. What I was trying to get at is that, based on what you have told us, that these emotional and impulse issues impact you in everyday life...Have you not raised this in a "general sense" as I am sure if you did your counselor or whatever would likely want to try to address it and if they did, whatever coping mechanisms they have provided should 'apply' to comic buying the same way with every other day to day business of life?
  14. I have some later SSOC mags up until the end of the day. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=9618816#Post9618816
  15. This may be a public forum but this is my journal. A meme here or there is fine but not spamming pages of it. True, which is where asking people to stay on topic if such things bothers you, is probably the best way to go. Then again, you've got someone who is willing to point these things out to you It's not that I haven't noticed it's just that I was being polite and you guys knew when to stop but I'll mention it next time. Actually, in this case Gabe, being polite would be telling everyone here that you thank them for their advice, but you are going to do what you want to do, and you really don't need any help. I think part of your social inadequacies lies with not being able to communicate in a assertive manner. Just my assumption. You're right I'm not assertive and I should start. Listening to that guy should be about the last thing you should do...seriously. and what vested interest do you have? Who the hell are YOU? Easy guys I know people like you, you may be brash but you tell the truth. All I'm saying is he should get his own life in order before offering you any life advice. There's also a difference between being someone who "tells the truth" and someone who's just a jerk I would say the OP's problems go far beyond needing a 'kick in the pants' to get started, or some comic flipping tips. There appear to be issues at the core which will impede him his entire life if unaddressed. And while all of the advice is well intentioned, it may lack context or nuance, which is very very important given the OP's situation. Especially any advice related to behavior/personality modification (given his emotional/mental/learning complexities). I once again vote for a ceasing of all 'flipping' activities until professional (licensed therapist) help can be sought and/or full time employment has been attained. But I know that will fall on deaf ears because of an obviously addictive personality mixed with a lack of analytical reasoning skills, added to a healthy inability to be self-aware. Good advice that Gabe has ignored time and time again. Sometimes you have to just let someone make their choices and live the consequences of those choices. That's my take on it too. Maybe it's "enabling"..I don't know, but I figured as long as he's going to do whatever he wants, I might as well try to point him in the right direction. Unfortunately most of that advice has fallen on deaf ears as well. Indeed but I'm happy that my emotional and impulse buying was pointed out to me. I'm curious...You say you are seeing a professional...How is it that it that "boardies" are providing you with these "revelations"? Have these impulses not been flagged for you by your professional provider? It seems unlikely to me that these impulsed would be limited to just comic book purchases...?
  16. Ok, so I have some thoughts here...Welcome suggestions as always. As I have a limited space for this show this is what I was thinking of bringing. I really have to "pare down" what I am able to bring from the other show that give me LOTS of space. Two Four Foot Tables - About 9 to 10 long boxes will fit, lets say 9. I was thinking of the following set up (again, my stock is more Marvel heavy): Top of Tables Avengers Batman (I have a total of two long boxes, Batman, Brave and the Bold, Detective and Misc. Bats) Daredevil DC Mix (Flash, Green Lantern & Justice League) Spider-Man (total of two long boxes, Amazing and Spectacular) Superman (not a big seller I know but I have lots of Supes and even Lois Lane and Superboy I have to organize at some point) X-Men * I am struggling with what other two boxes to bring or if I should just bring two boxes of Bats and Spidey...I have FF, Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Powerman and Iron Fist, Assorted Marvel (Fanfare, Team Up, Two In One, etc), Surfer and Thor, Horror and War. Under Table 4 long boxes of $2 priced comics 5 long boxes of completed sets, story arcs and tpb's Round Table - Action figures (I have about 10 left from a pretty big Marvel Legends lot I purchased) and magazine comics. If the action figures go fast I have other stuff I can put on that table. Wall Board - "Higher end" books, might bring CGC for display purposes.
  17. What is the significance of the boobies and fannie posts? just my thoughts on the thread...I see it in active topics twenty four seven and jist want to be part of the "thing"
  18. What is the significance of the boobies and fannie posts?
  19. The problem with today's youth is they don't want to earn their stripes. Working hard from the bottom up is what we were taught by our parents, kids today want the immediate high paying,no physical job that comes with working your azz off your whole life. I disagree that's the problem with most but not all youth and my dad taught my that same thing but he said that you should also do things the smart way instead of the hard way. Which way are you currently pursuing? Well I'm trying the smart way Oh Gabe....
  20. Small update...I was asked to participate in a fledgling "FanExpo" style local show that is taking place at the local university here in less than a month. I have some concerns about the show, mostly regarding the "speed" in which this seems to have been put together (and spelling mistakes on promotional materials) and advertising (or lack thereof) but as it is a focused show on "comics, cosplay, horror, sci-fi and video games", I figured why not? I am all set from the previous show so it is just a matter of loading and unloading really. I will also be letting my local customers know too via my Facebook Page. For a one day show with a 10 x 10 space, two four foot unskirted tables, one round table, it is $100. Due to limited tables, I plan on placing some boxes under the table though for this one. My "worse case scenario" is that I break even and waste a Sunday.
  21. I have a few up myself... http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=9616207#Post9616207
  22. It depends but yes in most cases I do both so I have a better chance of getting a interview Either your idea doesn't work very well since you don't get very many interviews or you make a very bad first impression when you hand off your resume. Maybe you're giving off some weird vibes to the manager when you drop off your resume. I'm not sure about weird vibes but I'm always nervous when I really want a job. Heck, in that case you should never be nervous. Out of curiosity, what was the managers name? One of the managers was named Peter How many managers did you talk to? What was the name of the manager you handed your resume to? Two managers and the guy that took my resume was named peter Here's something you might try. Send Peter a Thank You note thanking him for taking the time to talk to you, even if all he did was take your resume. Very few people do this, and it might make you stand out among the other applicants. At the minimum, he will remember your name, and that may be the little something extra that gets you a job offer. Can't hurt to try it thanks. How were your fingernails? How was your hair? How were you dressed?
