  1. That's it's still about 27usd to ship a slab I can see if it is a pricey slab it can cost that much due to insurance such as the ASM #129 8.0 costing near that due to the value of the book and wanting to insure it for the full value But how often are you shipping slabs worth $200 or more? I just shipped a $250 USD valued slab for less than that, about $22 USD (and I took $2 off) to make it an even $20 USD. It was just under $30 CDN to ship. Did I "lose" out on a couple of bucks? Sure but it made me as competitively priced as I could be. Do you have a digital mailing scale? That might help so you can plug in your values and you will know everything exactly for listing purposes. Also, small business owners can get a card from Canada Post that gives you discount on shipping.
  2. I didn't think people make judgement calls that quickly if they want to buy something or not I was going to take better pics and I didn't even expect to get as many offers as I did before the listing got taken down. They do .. it's called experience that makes me impart that info to you Offers from here, or eBay? .. and no-wonder the list got taken down (as others have posted already) people don't ALWAYS make quick decisions, but it doesn't take much sloppiness or unprofessionalism to turn away a buyer, unless the price is significantly cheaper. And you're already playing behind, seeing as you're in Canada. You literally have no margin for error, figuratively or financially. I agree I'm in tighter situations then most are and one of the biggest problems is shipping as that turns people off that's also something I'm working on. Trust me, shipping is NOT one of your "biggest problems". Crappy pics/scans and poor write ups are among a few other things. I'm in Canada (as you know) and while I am by no means a big time dealer, I sell a fair bit on eBay and my customers are pretty much 50/50 I would say with regards to being in Canada and USA...I don't think it is shipping that is the problem unless you are overcharging. Are you taking the exchange rate into consideration with regards to ship costs? With the current exchange rate, if it is $18 CDN to ship, I charge $15 USD. Or if it is a big book, I might take a tad more off shipping cost to be even more competitive.
  3. Three most recent pick ups... 35 issues to complete the run...Including most of the most expensive ones
  4. Picked these up locally for a great price so while I thought I would just focus on keys, couldn't pass them up... Updated - Current ASM's needed to complete the run: #1 to #12 #15 - #24 #27 - #32 #35 - #38 #43, #47, #48 35 total issues needed to complete the run... My goal is to now "finish" the 40's so if anyone has some nice presenting affordable #43, #47 and #48, hit me up and I would like to still pick up at least one more key from the list before the year is out.
  5. I just looked at your auction. As soon as eBay finds out about your offer of a "better deal" they will more than likely pull your auction. All it's going to take is one person to notify them, or they may find it themselves, and your auction is probably going to get poofed. Wait...you're saying that his eBay listing makes mention of doing a deal off of eBay? Seriously? No I'm just said if the want a better deal they can speak to me about it I didn't mention anything else So, what would a buyer have to do to get 11% off? via Imgflip Meme Generator
  6. Gabe, yes, quit using the low res image you just copied from the auction site you bought it from, take a good clear pic so that folks can zoom, check it out well. Back cover can't hurt either.

Wait...you're saying that his eBay listing makes mention of doing a deal off of eBay? Seriously? Up for sale is a copy of Amazing spider-man 129 CGC 8.0 1st appearance of punisher which he's rumored to get his own movie and tv series on netflix Condition: The case does have some scuffs and scratches on it. Shipping: This comic will be shipped in a cardboard sandwich, bubble wrapped and sent in a box Payment: Needs to be made as soon as you buy it Want a better deal? Contact me and we can work something out with a possible discount of up to 11% off Questions: If you have any questions or concerns don't hesitate to ask Note: I did not bold that section, bolded in listing.

All it's going to take is one person to notify them, or they may find it themselves, and your auction is probably going to get poofed. Hopefully not but if it happens I can at least say I tried They (eBay) might do more than just "poof" your listing though. Getting in eBay's "bad books" might not be a good idea for a fledgling seller already in the hole just to try to eek out a few extra dollars...
  9. By listing it "high" like that you are not "undercutting"...You are already pricing it HIGH hoping you will sell it for more than it previously has. Question: How long do you want to be "out" that $956 USD? Do you want to be out of that for 2 months? 3 months? How long are you willing to let it sit in the hopes of either a) making a couple of bucks or b) breaking even? At what point does taking a small loss (say $100) become an option? Another thing to consider...There is an 8.5 on there RIGHT NOW and someone is asking 1,199.99 USD - Only a couple hundred more than yours and the book has a perfect wrap and no staple tear as far as I can see - You are not just competing against other 8.0's - You are going to be competing against nice 7.0/7.5's, other 8.0's and as proven, 8.5's...
  10. It means I lost 100% of my money since that comic was a scam So you paid for the book and the book was never delivered and the seller never refunded your money back? Yes, Gabe was scammed a few times and got zilch for his money. I think he paid via money order or via friends and family and books never showed.
  11. He also had an CGC 8.5 so the buy price could have been for that. Either way he lost money. Yeah I did have a cgc 8.5 but that's after I got it pressed and cleaned. You got the B&V 7.0/7.5 pressed and cleaned and then it was an 8.5 is that what you are saying? Or are these two completely separate books? Yes I got the B&V 7.0/7/5 pressed and cleaned to a 8.5 That's a lot of effort to expend just to lose $220.00. Just say in'. Does the buy price of the B&V 7.0 to an 8.5 of $470 USD include the cost of pressing and grading?

  13. The accounting is haphazard to say the least. So, for this book: Betty and Veronica #320 7.0/7.5 Buy $470usd Sell $250 So, on this book you LOST $220 USD? Is that right? According to GPA, there was one sale for $283 in 2015, that's it...Why the heck did you pay $470? When did you start using GPA and other sources to determine FMV?
  14. The BA #12 BA 12 Buy $834.15 Sell $820 Was this one you bought raw and then you didn't agree with the grade? Did you think about pressing that one too? I seem to remember some discussion about that... Are you also including cost of having books shipped to you in your costs or just the cost of the book itself? Does the resell price take into account the eBay and/or PayPal fees?
  15. I've tried that a couple of times and ran into a few problems - If it's online shipping must be cost effective since I usually buy from the states - I find something on kijiji people want me to drive for it and they want top dollar not listening to the fact that I can't buy it at that much - I found a couple good comics at a shop before and he took out of my hands and said he couldn't sell it for that price because "They're hot" and I knew that of course but it's his fault that he messed up. I have done that a handful of times and I had great results in most cases but at lot of the times it's misses So I'll list a couple examples of little comics I made a profit on. Archie comics bought for 25 sold for 100 ASM 101 Bought for 55 sold for 75 Free comics got for free sold for 18 bucks IM 305 Bought for 7 sold for 12 X-Factor 5,6,15,18, 23,24 bought for cover price and sold for a total of 135 FF 67 Bought for 8 bucks sold for 15 Strange adventures 180 bought for 23 sold for 55 For those that are going to ask yes this was all calculated after fees and shipping now list all of the losses...... look at the list - so many low purchase books with flipping potential..... The spacing is screwed up and even going through it line by line I still have no idea what some of these entries mean e.g. "Giant Size X-men #1 Buy $355.38 Sell $-335.38" Does this mean you lost $20? Or "Marvel Super Heroes 12 Buy $110usd Sell $0" Does this mean you've still got it? There are a lot of nice folk here trying to help, but I'm afraid you don't make it easy . . . Trumponomics
  16. Ask and ye shall receive... http://www.icomicexchange.com/product/amazing-spider-man-129-2 Shipping on top of price paid. Gabe said he was, by his calculations, was $1100 in the hole...He never said whether that was in Canadian or US funds. As most deal in US funds for comics, I would assume he is $1100 USD in the hole. He then got $700 (USD) for a finders fee for that BB book (which as insanely fortunate for him)...If he had applied that windfall to service his "comic debt" he would only be about $400 in the hole. INSTEAD he used that money to buy the ASM #129 for about $950 USD or so, factoring in shipping. As he has not yet sold the book, I guess you could say he is currently in the hole around $1,350 USD in the hole... Does that make sense or did I royally screw that up? I have no idea how he "accounts" or covered that $1,100 comic debt either... ...One thing I wonder about is he had $700 from the BB finders fee, where did he get the other $250 USD to cover the rest of the book? Unless he had some still had some $ in his PayPal account...? Thank you...it actually is a really pretty 8.0. Was the plan to CPR it and went askew or did he think he was buying an 8.5 (like I read) and try and make a quick couple of hundred bucks? Apparently, he had a bunch of tabs open on his computer and in his complete and utter excitement, thought it was actually an 8.5 at the price point he ended up paying as he had looked at one earlier and somehow managed to go through the ICE screen and PayPal screens without noticing it was actually an 8.0 he was buying...So what he thought was a "good deal" on an 8.5 was actually a pricey 8.0 buy.

  18. Well, locked in for an extra FREE table. Next couple of weeks will be getting the cheapies organized. Also found out another guy might be setting up and also selling comics...As it is a small show, not sure how I feel about that (not that I have a say in the matter) as the pool for potential buyers is rather limited. Obviously, if this was a regular con or a bigger show, I would not care at all about competition but seeing as how small a show it is, well I will be curious to see where I end up. One idea I had was doing a "raffle" for a book...Anyone ever done anything like that?
  19. IF it were misrepresented (and admittedly I didn't check the listing) this would have been the first thing I did. Better to get your money back, even if you're out shipping, rather than have to sell this book at a loss. So it was either Gabe's mistake and not on the seller, or Gabe still thought he could make bank by overpaying for the 8.0. Either way it is a bit It's completely my mistake and their return policy is 14 days As I stated earlier, there was nothing wrong with how ICE listed the book. You can still look it up and CLEARLY see it is advertised as a ASM #129 CGC 8.0 with a large photo with zoom feature that clearly shows the 8.0 grade. I don't know if you are past the 14 day return period but I would have a problem with you returning the book considering it arrived exactly as described and pictured - A CGC 8.0. The slight staple tear was visible in the scan. The error was all on you. It would be like me selling you a book for an agreed upon price and then because you couldn't make as much money on it as you hoped, wanting to return it to me. I think that would be "frowned upon" here would it not? Returning something due to "buyers remorse"?
  20. I think the road is a bit bumpy lately as per Facebook "Don't play games and waste people's time if you don't want to buy what they have." - Feeling angry
  21. Thanks guys! Cheapie books it is! To be honest, I have been "putting off" getting those books together as I kind of put them to the side as I only really sell here and eBay, so this will motivate me to finally get to it.
