  1. So, with that remaining stock you are $5,333.41 "in the hole"? How much profit do you hope to make off of your remaining inventory?
  2. I'd like to hear the ASM #129 guy's side to this story...
  3. Oh sorry, I just wanted to show the best ones...Only 2 in the lot...Rest are regular DD's from around that era and a bit earlier. Agree though, I think TM is a sleeper of a book. Just wait till she shows up in the series...Love the cover too.
  4. Still haven't posted Saturday's buy, but here is todays...Nothing to compare with the dollar find of TWD #1, but here they are... ...Never bought any Zenescope before but, here they are. Yes those are stacks and multiples of variants...Really nice thing here is the multiple Grimm Tales of Terror #1 Retailer exclusive.
  5. I had a pretty decent score today - Motivated seller replied to my Kijiji ad. Nothing "earth shattering" but super good price for what I got. Here are my two favourite "oddities" though...Never knew these existed until today. Too bad the 1st issue is a 2nd print? Will post more tomorrow. Too tired now. The artists attached to these books is pretty impressive. Cue the jokes about being too tired...
  6. Uhmm...Airing your personal life story and tragedy may not be the best thing to do on an Internet message board. Besides those two days to write would be better spent hitting the pavement looking for work or going to a job resource center. Speaking of that, you say you want a regular job. What are you doing to get one? And for gosh sakes listen to others and drop this poorly conceived consignment idea and just focus on getting your mess together.
  7. Uhhmmm...Have you read your (parents) home insurance policy? Being a Canadian, last I checked home insurance does not necessarily cover the full value of collectibles. I'm having to do an inventory of my books, provide supporting information (GPA, eBay sales) and get it signed by the owner of my LCS and it is going to cost me a bit extra per month. This is what we mean...Have you actually spoken to your insurance agent about this? If you have and it is cool, I apologize but if you have not, you are making assumptions that may not be correct...The key here is up to 5 K...Say you have a small fire, $2,000 worth of damage but the consignment gets damaged and you tell the insurance adjuster "but I had a comic worth $3000" - They are going to ask for proof and for you to prove that...
  8. Ok, before I totally misread how the deal for the ASM #129 for the BA #12 went down. That is on you. You made a bad deal, live with it and move on. Trying to get an extra $100 after the fact is definitely not cool. Don't charge for handling. All you will do is deter potential buyers and annoy them before they even make a deal. It sounds like you have some extra challenges to make this comic thing a success. Some unsolicited advice: 1) Get a regular job...Anything...I don't know how old you are but do something. Start getting a regular income that will help you and your family. Forget comics as the "quick path to financial independence". Not going to happen. You have to have stability. I know finding a job is tough but there has to be something out there right? Visit your local employment office as they have a variety of resources and people who can help you with things like resume writing and searching. This is not "fun" but just getting something is going to take the pressure off. 2) What kind of support are you getting for your learning disability? Do you have the means or able to speak with a professional? Have you talked to your psychologist about your business or life plan? What about a "life coach" or even reaching out to find a mentor? While I don't have a learning disability (but some experience in this area), support (though not easy to find) can be invaluable until you can develop your own strategies to recognize and mitigate your personal challenges. 3) Have you thought about maybe seeing if you could volunteer at a comic shop once in awhile, see if there are any ways you can gain practical experience? This could help keep your finger on the pulse of things and maybe learn some things. 4) Forget about consignments. Forget about the big score (unless one presents itself to you). Forget about trading big, grading, signatures, flipping, etc. It does not seem you are not ready for that. Stick to small items and work your way up and (re) build your rep. No way someone is going to seriously consign enough books to you to make it worth your time. Why you over an established dealer or themselves for that matter? I am not trying to be mean or a "know it all". Take a break from flipping. Get a job. Get support to help manage your learning disability. Reset and then start SMALL and (re)build your rep. Just some friendly advice that may help you in the long run. Your and others mileage may vary.
  9. I personally think ebay is a great selling venue. FB is . You need to look inward as to why sales threads here are not working and work on how you manage them and what you project...I don't sell here as much as I should so take that with a grain of salt. For all that work you could have just flipped the ASM #129 and ended up in a better place with less drama and waiting. Regardless just get that book graded and out the door and move on.
  10. If the conversation on you are reporting with him is factual you were under no obligation to sell it as you basically said you will let him know once you get it. BUT I can see the other side of the coin where it was not rock solid deal but enough to have the guy think it was and others too. Need to be crystal clear in your terms and don't try to amend deals later. And you bought the ASM #129 CGC? For how much? Did you essentially lose on two deals because of this?
  11. I don't think this qualifies as "blackmail"... Bullying maybe. However, if the worst the guy said was that he was going to post on FB that you were 'scamming him' you could have simply told your side of the story and let the chips fall where they may. There was a reason why he was pushing you like that. He knew he had one on the line. If the worst thing that happened is some guy alleged you were a scammer on a FB group...Who cares? I've seen some of your FB posts. Stay away from trades on FB and maybe stick to selling in respectable venues until you get a handle on things.
  12. I'm still on this blackmail thing...Blackmail is a criminal offense...Were you really "blackmailed" or were you just persuaded? Two entirely different things...Did the other guy threaten to reveal sensitive or compromising information about you or a family member or friend? IF the latter, you should take this up with the local police.
  13. Did you trade for it in person or was it more of an online trade like say, Facebook? The ASM #129 was easily a $1000 USD in your pocket (going by GPA)...Last sale was $1600...Why bother to trade it at all? If movie hype is your thing, the Punisher is coming to Netflix in Daredevil and a always popular book is getting another shot in the arm... If $$$ is important to you and your family, why did you not just sell it instead of dinking around? You could have sold that book and bought yourself a very nice graded Harley with $$$ to spare... What was the reasoning for making such a trade? Do you have GPA? Based on what a graded 9.0 BA #12 goes for, a CGC 9.0 Harley is around $500 - $600 if I'm looking at the right book in GPA...Using just the 90 day averages, you just "gave away" over $600... In previous entries you posted this was a good thing to acquire but I think you should present the full story if the point of this journal is to get advice, at first it was "hey, cool 1st Harley" and now it is kind of Uhmmm...How did the other party "blackmail" you?
  14. Why? You are going to be reselling it. Having it signed by Bruce Timm will decrease the number of potential buyers. Most people don't know who he is. I did think about that but according to how the trade went I'll be breaking even if it would get a 9.0 blue label so I'm getting is signed to get more money out of it plus no one even gave it a grade yet Ok... So you traded for it and you say that you will only be breaking even on it (what all did you trade?)...Maybe it is time to just get it pressed and graded, forget the sig and just recoup your "costs" ASAP and move on. I mean, it is a great book but if you are at a break even now, every bit of extra cash + wait time you throw into it for a potential bump is costing you the longer it "sits".
  15. Why? You are going to be reselling it. Having it signed by Bruce Timm will decrease the number of potential buyers. Most people don't know who he is. Really? SS copies of this book consistently sell for higher than their blue label counterparts. But is the risk, additional cost and time worth the increase in value? Especially given the canadianness of the situation (dollar issues, additional shipping times, etc). Your realized price might be higher, but the turnaround time might be longer for to get your comic back as well as selling time once in hand. Please please consider these issues before getting the signature. It's not always about pure dollar value return either, percentage return is a consideration too as well as turnaround time. THIS. Sure, a Timm signature is cool and all but factor in our dollar right now, the exchange rate is about $1.31 CDN for $1 USD - It is going to cost you that much more for the sig, it is going to cost you cash for pressing (I'm assuming your presser is Canadian?), that much more for grading, that much more for shipping then you have to wait to line up the sig then you have to wait to get it back. How long are you willing to wait to be able to flip it when you could just spend a bit more to fast track it, get it back waaay sooner and just sell it? Also, where did you get it from? I'm assuming the seller had some idea as to its value so by the time you factor in your up front costs, costs to get it signed, shipped, the exchange rate, etc and the waiting are you SURE it is really "worth it"? With the dollar and wait times I am being far more selective in what I opt to even get graded at all... Good luck!
  16. Purchased some ASM La Mole variants. Books were as described, shipped fast and packaged extremely well! I would not hesitate to do business with Mijael again! Two Thumbs Up!
  17. Wow tough act to follow...This one won't but new to me. 1970's Marvel Heroes 1st Appearance collection is coming along...
  18. I went antiquing/flea market browsing with my wife this weekend. I don't mind as I usually can find SOMETHING of interest and you never know what you can find... Not everything came from the same spots, about three different spots...This outing was a good one for me...I bought more than her! Most of what I bought was what I would consider "a rescue" as they were not exactly being stored in a way that would be good for their long term survival. First up, something I normally would not buy but is nearly complete, just really missing the "Krypton Generator"...Had to save it. Some nice Comics Journal's...Frazetta Some Oversized DC Collectors Editions Some nice Marvel Treasuries...These were stored in large Ziploc bags and are in pretty darn nice shape, especially the Cap. EPIC #3 - This books is in amazing shape...I have no idea how it is still in this good of shape. I picked it out of a stack of 'average' magazines...It was in a large Ziploc bag. Finally, random assortment of comics...These were straight up rescues...Some were in horrid bags and boards stored in boxes that were decaying. Vendor was too cheap to buy new boxes or bags and boards...Just sad...I wish I had more time to rummage but this is what I walked away with... Sorry for crappy cell phone pics...Will take more later...Too lazy...In case you want to know, they are: Action Comics #293 - Origin of Super Steed Amazing Adventures #18 - 1st Killraven Aquaman #29 - 1st Ocean Master Doom Patrol #99 - 1st Beast Boy House of Mystery #208 - Cardy cover House of Mystery #217 - Wrightson cover Strange Tales #130 - Beatles cameo! Strange Tales #150 - 1st Umar Strange Tales #158 - 1st Living Tribunal All books are complete and no missing pages or cut outs which is pretty sweet and covers firmly attached.
