  1. That would be great! I have had a few nice boardies already shoot me some ideas previously and those are still "filed" for the future, but yeah, I will look at any and all ideas! Thank You!
  2. This year will be an improvement in terms of "being ready" and I will have a larger space and much of the supplies I bought last go around I will be able to use again, so really, minimal expenses this time, other than the booth fee. However, I did opt to get business cards made as well as a banner for my booth. I have been working diligently in getting my stock ready for a show and I will have more product (and less stress) in terms of getting ready as I am "good to go" now. I plan to keep working and getting it organized so I have more to offer with each go around. The only thing I will need to improve (or get) is a wall book display. I did not yet construct anything (and I am not particularly handy). I opted out of the pre-fab displays as the shipping cost is brutal. So, if I have one thing I really want to get sorted for next time, it is that. Not 100% sure what I will do in that regard yet, if anything. We shall see.
  3. Adventures in Selling I participated in my first ever show last October. I was pleased with my sales, it was an excellent learning experience and most importantly, I had a great time. I must have did "ok" as I was invited back by the show organizers. In my town, there use to be a larger two day Antique Show, but with the sale of the local Legion (where that event was held), the Antique Show organizers asked the organizers of the Collectibles Show to "take over"...I think this is a good thing, merging the two shows. The first show under the new 'brand' is scheduled for Sunday, April 17th, 2016. Moving forward, the plan is to have a regular two day show in October. For as long as there is some degree of interest I will share my experiences, good and bad. I also look forward to any new comments and tips from more seasoned sellers. Thanks for your interest! Thanks for reading! Here is the link to my first journal entry about my first show experience (for those who may be interested or setting up themselves one day): http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=8903742&fpart=7 See more journals by Wall-Crawler

  5. Recently picked this book up on eBay for a fair price (including shipping). Barring finding a really good deal, going to lay off buying any "common" books in the run to save towards a big key. Regardless, still pleased with the new addition. Current ASM books still needed to complete the run: #1 to #24 #27 - #32 #35 - #38 #40, #43, #45, #47, #48, #49
  6. There were a couple of interesting scenes. But that was definitely up there as a high point. That, and the plane save, are some of the better parts of Superman Returns. Always kind of felt bad for Routh...Thought he did a good job as Supes and Clark but the -script...
  7. CBR Review not so good either. http://www.comicbookresources.com/article/review-wonder-woman-cant-save-dull-batman-v-superman-dawn-of-justice
  8. A smart idea to lock in the earlier, pricier books sooner than later if at all possible. The prices will continue to drift upwards, and your personal circumstances could change with time such that buying a big book can be trickier. You can always go back and fill in the gaps. Cheers! Thank You! Yes, I agree with this...Except I just bought another "run filler" for a decent price on eBay...Will knock it off the list and post it here when I have it in hand...But yeah, I will be reigning it in for a key once this one arrives.
  9. I know it is not ASM but thought I would still share...I picked this out of a larger comic lot I bought back in October. Just glad how it came back. Now I am debating keep or sell. UPDATE: I sold it. This was the Black Cat JSC Variant. It helped fund another book coming up...
  10. Just got these back last Friday. Personally, not a Zenescope fan myself, but these were in a large lot I picked up and found nice exclusive covers mixed in, so I figued what the heck and subbed 'em. Dark Shaman #1 - Ultra Rare Retailer Incentive edition Grimm Tales of Terror Secret Variant Edition x 2 Detective Comics #608 - A little Anarky Superior Spidey #20 - JSC Black Cat Variant ...And my favourite book to come back... Epic Illustrated #3, 1st Dreadstar. I bought this raw at an Antique Mall this past summer.
  11. If someone could give a brief summary I am curious what has happened with this. I have read the specific complaints here in the PL but I'm not familiar with the general picture. Has he walked away from clients and obligations? Are there extenuating circumstances? For a couple of years, Akoni Kaholo (kaholo1256) was a witness/facilitator in good standing with CGC...particularly the Signature Series program. Back in the middle of 2015, he advertised a sketch opportunity with Kevin Eastman. He took (a lot) of money and books to be signed and/or sketched on. This was normal as Akoni Kaholo had taken many submissions of this nature in the past and never had any problems. While getting these done, Akoni Kaholo continued to accept submissions for other shows he'd be attending in order to get them signed for clients. Many of the original books from the first Eastman sketch opportunity were completed and group photos were posted. Originally, he was to submit this directly to CGC via the mail. Then, he was to bring them to Baltimore Comic Con for on-site grading. Then, he was to bring them to NYCC for submission. None of these things happened. Akoni Kaholo went silent after that. Many clients started posting in his threads asking for updates with no response. PM's went unread and phone calls were dodged. I nominated Akoni Kaholo for the probation list back in December. This prompted a response from him where he basically said "my bad all, I'll get these right out and get things straightened out". He immediately went silent again. When enough people asked questions, it surfaced that Akoni Kaholo had MANY outstanding bills waiting to be paid at CGC and from the looks of it, he had no intention of paying them. He had many already-graded books that needed payment before being shipped. Many more books were sitting in boxes at his house waiting to be submitted. I've heard many figures thrown out, but it sounds like the total cost of all the bills, signing fees, and the value of the books he was responsible for that were outstanding was around the $100K mark. Former friends of his who also work with CGC regularly stepped in and got many CGC invoices paid and the books returned to the owners. They funded some of this by taking possession of his personal books and selling them (on Facebook). I believe the majority of books have been returned, but there are a few instances where Akoni Kaholo lied to get additional submissions. That's my situation. I and several others are currently waiting on refunds that may or may not come as a result of Akoni's lies where he purposefully solicited submissions that he had no intention of completing. CGC has issued a letter to Akoni Kaholo saying he is no longer allowed to witness or facilitate for them. It's unclear to me whether or not he's allowed to submit to them anymore, but from the sounds of it, Akoni is looking to just brush his hands of the whole situation and leave it all behind. Many thanks for posting this, I appreciate it. I also appreciate the information. Didn't realize how big the problem was. I'm quite sorry this happened, and like many of you thought he was a pretty stand up guy before all this. But I thought it was kinda funny that he wants to 'brush/wash his hands of the situation.' I too would want to wash my hands of a situation where I allegedly defrauded multiple customers, terribly represented a comic book legend, and was in debt to a comic grading company for nearly $100K. I'm sure Bernie Madoff wants to wash his hands of the whole 'worlds biggest ponzi scheme' situation too. "No judge, YOU don't understand. Yes I knowlingly took the money under false pretenses. But I've WASHED MY HANDS OF THE WHOLE SITUATION. So we're good right?" "No honey, YOU don't understand. Yes I know she was your best friend, But I've WASHED MY HANDS OF THE WHOLE SITUATION. So we're good right?" I have no horse in this race, but WOW. What a horrible, horrible mess. Even if Akoni no longer has ties to CGC, why shouldn't he be on the HOS list? Lots of folks come to the CGC boards for information and this is a great community for looking out for one another. What if he starts buing/selling in some capacity on other boards or sites? If people saw what he did here, it might help them to make an informed decision as to whether or not they want to do business with him. Regardless if the guy never buys or sells a single book again and is booted from CGC, the guy, IMHO, belongs on the HOS list.
  12. Sooo Happy I held onto my 9.4 of 1st Shang-Chi...Two years ago I picked up a long box of his original series and been sitting on it...Time to go through it... I'm glad they are linking the two characters. Makes sense.
  13. ...I don't really know any of the actors or their ability but I have no problem with them switching around race, ethnicity and all that, it makes sense for a modern take. Some of the "background" in the character synopsis are a little but then again, it is a modern take for the CW crowd. ...The only real for me is Luke Perry as Mr. Andrews... Maybe they will have an "dream" episode of where Captain Pureheart crosses over with The Flash...That could be cool...
  14. Sooo...Are ARCHIE comics going to get a boost?????
  15. Some college is better than no college, not sure why he'd tell you to take it off. Gabe, how long were you enrolled in college? Did you get one year in? Regardless, should probably trust the guy who does this for a living?
  16. I debated it but ultimately sold my CGC 9.8 during the first week of release. I was happy with the result. I honestly don't really care all that much about the character. I saw the movie. Thought it was alright. I don't know why people are going all over it. I figure, at some point, it shouldn't be too hard to pick up a 9.6 if I want one later with at present over 2,000 9.8's on the census and over 2,000 9.6's. That is insane. How many more Voldemort books are there? How many raws still in the wild? I don't know how many but I still think there is a substantial amount that could impact price if everyone were to dump them at once, but that won't happen. It doesn't necessarily have to be a conspiracy theory, just "group thought" and general understanding that flooding any market is bad.
  17. That is impressive! I SALUTE you sir! Full run with AF #15...Gotta love that...Sigh, maybe ONE day...Thanks for the support!
  18. That is great for you but I don't think filling Gabe's head with thoughts of finding ASM #129's and Hulk #181's for a dollar is all that helpful at this point. Yes, there are TONS of shows in The Greater Toronto Area and other areas around Hamilton, Niagara - This is true. Gabe would likely have to spend $$$ to take a bus just to get to those particular shows - I don't think he has a car. Gabe can correct me if I'm wrong. I am not particularly sure what is going on in the Niagara area, but I am sure there are quite a few smaller shows he could attend but MOST of the advice has been to SCALE BACK on his buying and trading activities, not escalate them. Again, to be clear, I am not saying just because he is on social assistance he can't have any fun, but to put in the kind of work you are suggesting, well let's just say his time and energy, for now, would probably be better spent elsewhere. ...But we all know he won't "really" stop and this kind of stuff only adds fuel to the flame.
  19. I'm working on completing the run too...I like how you broke down your set goals...I never laid my own that specifically but seems to mirror my own balance of budget and grade...I'm not going for all CGC books though...Do you have a time frame by when you would like to complete it? Good Luck!
  20. Sweet #1!!! Recent pick ups...Another couple off the list! While not technically an ASM comic book, found this recently...Thought I would share...
  21. Knocked two more off the list...Picked these up for a fair price and in Canadian funds, no shipping either, which is always a bonus. Amazing Spider-Man #25 - 1st MJ (cameo) Amazing Spider-Man #33 - Classic story Note: I usually try to get books with better wraps than this but, like I said, the price was right and it was available in Canadian funds. Current ASM books still needed to complete the run: #1 to #24 #27 - #32 #35 - #38 #40, #43 - #45, #47 - #49 Also, I put a down payment on a pretty key ASM book, but will wait until I have it paid off and in my possession to "count".
