  1. A TAT is not a policy, it's (ideally) a reflection of how long the process takes. So if they change their TATs that should give you an idea of how long the books they recently completed took them. This may or may not be how long your book takes. Yeah, good point. Tks!
  2. That escalated quickly... Serious question now though...What is the "cut off" date for books being under the longer TAT? For example, if I subbed books to CCS and they arrived in late December/Early January, would they be under the old TAT or the 'new' TAT'? Thank you.
  3. Is there a boardie Instagram list or something? How would this guy even find people to do this?
  4. Who is the established boardie? I have a PM out to him right now letting him know about the grade. Since the deal was made some time ago, I deleted the original conversation where he stated his assessment on condition, but I do recall it being definitely higher than Fine. Checking his post history, he hasn't been on for a bit, but I want to let him know privately and see what he thinks. What was the seller's estimated grade? And when you received and looked the book over did you agree with their stated grade? That's what I'm trying to figure out -- his stated grade -- before anything else. I do remember looking it over when receiving and it looked fine. Before sending it in for grading I did take another look and saw the corner was more rounded than I remembered and saw it fall a couple points because of it, but nothing to drop to a 6.0. I'm not looking for pitchforks or accusations; I just want to know what made it take the dive. And if the seller believed the grade to be much higher, perhaps he would spring for the notes. It's a book for my personal collection, so even if it was advertised as 8.0 and came back 7.0 I'd be happy. How "long ago" was the deal made from the time you sent it to CGC for grading? I mean, if it is a week or a month, fine but if it was like 6 months...How long should a seller be responsible for a book once it leaves their possession? To be clear, I have no horse in this race, just curious.
  5. Ok, this is not a flea market grab and I am probably going to get the "Yeah Right" crowd, but I actually DID find this in a marked $1 bin at a comic book store during a Boxing Day sale. I did not hide the find or try to put it between a bunch of the other books I was buying, I placed it right on top. The cashier was just about to ring it through when another worker (whom I think was an Assistant Manager maybe?) noticed it. He just kind of looked at me and said something like "Nice. Scalped #1 for a buck eh?" I replied saying something like "I guess so?" They honoured the sale. I told them I found the book in-between a bunch of drek Spidey's...It was behind an issue of Spidey 2099 (original series). Note the vertical line is a scanner effect. Only problem with the book are the ticks.
  6. Just got these back from CGC on the 24th of December
  7. Mike and I negotiated a trade and it was one of the easiest trades I have ever done. No outlandish demands, just a FAIR deal plain and simple. On top of that my book was shipped promptly and had it not been for Canadian Customs, been here A LOT sooner but Mike stayed in touch until it was delivered! EXCELLENT packaging too. Finally, Mike was a great guy to "talk shop with" and I would not hesitate to deal with him again in the future.
  8. Same here. This is ridiculous! +1! Agree on the 4.0 to 4.5 Hope someone does not jump on it thinking it is a 'real' 8.0
  9. I'm actually more "concerned" about Will Smith playing Deadshot...It has nothing to do with race, etc. Just that it is "Will Smith" and to me, Will Smith is kind of Will Smith in every role he plays now...Maybe it is just over familiarity with his work but hopefully I'm proven wrong. I actually think Oprah as Amanda Waller could be GENIUS. I mean, yes she has this very public persona but she did not get to where she is by being "nice" all the time has she? She is obviously a very tactical businesswoman. It is also this kind of 180 from her TV personality and roles she has played in other films that has me intrigued with that as a possible role...However, I think that is wishful thinking on WB's part, but who knows? Also curious why they decided to go with the Enchantress character over more well-known ones but I guess none of this matters b/c most of the general public, outside of the Joker, will know who ANY of these characters are...
  10. Nothing uber high grade, kinda landed where I hoped they would so I am pleased.
  11. Yes. It is getting close to the 45 day Paypal timeline for me to have to file a dispute to protect myself (I'm at Day 40). I won't rehash the details here, they are in the CG thread and now in the original Sales Thread.
  12. Can someone be nominated to the PL (even if you get your $$$ back) for dodgy shenanigans?
  13. Fans of JSC may want to know I have this for sale... http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=8198802&Main=362028#Post8198802
  14. Nothing super major but I scored this off of eBay for a really nice price!
  15. Right up there as one of my favourite comic book formats. I don't see enough of these, otherwise I'd have more. I lucked into a large collection of these going back some 4-5 years ago, which pushed up my total to nearly 100. I have them sitting in an Iron Man DVD movie stand I got from a retailer, and it works like a great bookshelf for these. These and the blue ribbon digests are among some of my favourites. Not sure if this is appropriate, but if anyone can give me advice as to "value" that would be appreciated.
  16. To be honest, I was too distracted with the other books but I *think* so...Either way the guy was open to me going back there anytime so I probably will and see if I can work out a deal for his other odds and sods I found interesting...
  17. Sure, what'cha got? Peace, Chip The dude also had a small box full of random Little Big Books, I didn't take a pic as I never thought of it...Same thing with the Marvel Illustrated books...There were some DC ones that looked the same too...
  18. Anyone know anything about Little Big Books and/or "Marvel Illustrated", these tiny little novel looking books - I might ask in CG...
  19. Thank You! The FF #18 is rough on the outside but the cover is attached and the pages insides are pretty good and complete actually. The DD is really, really nice, will be going to CGC as will the FF #44 and #53, might send the #56 too. Some of the other ones in the top pic are going too.
  20. Well, I just had another successful buy. This did not come by way of Craig's List or Flea Market. I found this through pure luck. With the few collections I have bought, word of mouth and luck have served me better overall than the internet. So anyway, I just started going to the gym again 2 weeks ago. This week, as I am finishing up and doing my stretches, a local guy whom my wife knows (she use to work for the one and only real antique business where I live) starts asking me if I would be "in" for participating in a local collectables show in the Spring (he knows I buy and sell comics). As we are talking about it on the mats, a different guy chimes in and says he has a bunch of comics he needs to unload and asks me if I'd take a look. We exchange phone numbers. That was Wednesday. This morning, he calls me at 9:30 AM and we arrange to meet in the afternoon. After some loooong negotiations,I walked away with: A few issues shy of a near complete run of Avengers from #183 - #229 + Giant Size Annual #2,3,5,6 and King Size Annuals #7,8,9,11 A few issues shy of a near complete run of Fantastic Four from #159 to #254 with King Size Annuals #12, 13,14,16 and 17 The real joy though was that I also picked up an assortment of other 1st appearances and some sweet early silver age FF issues... The guy has a few more things I am going to do some R&D and go back to see what we can work out but most of the good stuff, I got
