  1. Have to love eBay packing. Sent media mail in a mailer with comics between two loose pieces of cardboard. No bags or boards. Charged me $5 for shipping. I doubt they were really in VF/NM as stated in the listing, but now they definitely are not.
  2. I agree about the hyper inflation, it's already priced some of my collecting friends out of the market. One of my friends who searched eBay every day for 20 years, just stopped looking. He said it was a waste of time. He seems to have switched to collecting gold coins. I find myself backing off lots of books that I would have grabbed a few years ago, especially books that were sold on this forum recently but seem to have doubled in price in weeks (on here) or are listed on eBay at twice the price. I just don't want to play that game. Also, the amount of "revolving door" books/sellers (at least in GA) is depressing. This isn't a new phenomenon by any stretch, but the volume seems to have reached a new high.
  3. Don't remind me; I sold either right before the show started or a couple days after -- before the huge surge. It was a Best Offer on a bundle lot of 5 various #1 issues.
  4. Hey would ya look at that: a sales thread is closed and a new one immediately created with the same books.
  5. If you have a book up on IG, for instance, but say it's for sale on the CGC boards and list the price, is that the same as having it up for sale in 2 places? Also, rant time, why do so many FB and IG sellers insist on being paid PayPal Friends and Family, even though the FB "group" says to use Good and Services (and is also against PayPal's terms)? Are these people so cheap they can't afford a 3% fee to get immediate, secure payment, or too lazy to include it in the cost of the book?
  6. I never “kiss and tell” This is between the buyer and me. Don’t get me wrong, I really like the guy. He didn’t give me any sob story. I’m not upset. It’s his to do what he wants with. I thought I had it priced real fair and apparently he did too or he wouldn’t have bought it. Just seems like everybody is a flipper these days. I always give good deals to those who I think really love the books and appreciate them for what they are. No, I get it; a seller quotes a price and if it sells, that's the end of it. Just wondering the price as I have in-laws in LA and go out there a few times a year -- actually very soon, in time for WonderCon. I always see more comic-focused shows pop up in LA and am thinking of making a January trip part of our routine. If so, I'd definitely make a pit stop at your booth.

  8. I recall @joeypost gave us info on a small stack he sent in with a larger stack to follow. Did he ever report those results?
  9. It may be great and all, but non-Big 2 don't make the same splash. Look at the shows out now. Umbrella Academy and Deadly Class. Both are better than some of the Marvel shows and definitely better than the CW DC shows. Those books aren't even cracking $100 in 9.8! Alias #1 was a $400 book at one point in 9.8. Hmm, you mention 2 shows but only show eBay results from one -- the one which falls into your <$100 category. And also didn't show the Deadly Class #1's in 9.8 that are not the weird shop variants. Those are > $100.
  10. Perhaps @SharpComics.com can answer some of these Q's.
  11. https://orlandparkcomiccon.com/ I know some board members created -- and are also setting up at -- this show. Where: 11351 W 159th St, Orland Park, IL 60467 (Orland Park Sportsplex) When: April 26th 2019 6pm - 9pm April 27th 2019 11am - 7pm April 28th 2019 10am - 5pm
  12. The Woodridge location most assuredly had potential considering Hollywood Boulevard was practically next door. Mom and/or dad has a few during a showing of the latest superhero movie to hit big screen, then they walk out at the end and the kids say "Oh look, a comic shop! Let's go!" Heck, there's probably plenty of unaccompanied adults that would have had some 16 ounce sized spending inspiration. Execution on the concept must have been poor (I never bothered to visit that location, so I'm just speculating). Did someone say Woodridge? I used to live 5 minutes from that store; the location (to me) seemed great. There is a Graham Crackers in Naperville and Downers Grove (probably 15-20 mins west/north from Chimera's in Woodridge), but as far as I know there aren't many comic stores further south, out by Lemont, Bolingbrook, etc. That's where they could have potentially pulled in new returning customers; as said before thrift buyers from the movie theater next door should have been good, too. The back issue stock was very sparse and completely random. They had the space to add more but instead did some odd gaming thing. As to One Stop, I went there once and was amazed by the amount of comics. Probably a lot of great overlooked items in there, but when I went (this was a few years ago), if you wanted to look at back issues you had to specifically ask for it. No digging to be had. Finally, when did the 2nd and Charles in Aurora close? Was going to head over there tomorrow and it is no longer.
  13. Right now the craze is Tik Tok so the next generation will have to sell their comics in short videos. Ke$ha?
  14. It was eBay; went to look it up now for a link and saw the seller added extra pictures. Wanted to know how it looked in hand. But now I see the front cover is detached. $565
  15. I'd like to know, from those in the know, what is the tipping point between "dirty flipper" and "respected dealer".
