I'm amazed that you were able to get 20 copies of MM #1. It was seriously under ordered around here and I had to hit up several shops just to get 5 copies. I sold my extras too early as well thinking that it hit the ceiling at $20-$30. A modern selling for decent money because of QUALITY! Imagine that!

I don't have a 667, probably never will but still hold out an ounce of hope of finding one because the "Overstreet advisors" don't have rare incentive variants in the price guide.

Moderns pay off if you flip immediately before the weekend when everyone else gets around to listing theirs (Ice Cream Man A+B set $20-$25). I do very well with day of release variants because one of the shops I frequent doesn't rape you on their prices. They're straight across the board, $10 for a 1:25, $15-$20 for a 1:50, $30 for a 1:100, though they rarely get in a 1:100 book. I got the last 2 ASM 1:25's for $10 each and made a nice profit

Sink is one of those super low print indies that was hyped up, priced up, shilled up, whatever you wanna call it the first week it came out and crashed back down to Earth soon after. Personally, I love the book. It's sick and twisted if you like random violence / serial killer type stuff (I do). Only problems are that it's a mini and it's from Comix Tribe and nothing from them ever comes out as scheduled

You can't go wrong with golden age books. Timelys and ECs will never go down in price, there's a very limited supply and you don't have to worry about a lousy tv show or movie killing the value

While on the subject of sitting on copies for the long haul, and continuing to pick them up every time I see them, The Sentry #1 is seeing some movement

I've been sitting on some Happy #1 and full sets, bought them at cover when they came out and for less than cover in the last couple years because even before the TV show was a "go" I believed in the book. It helps if you read the stuff you're hoarding and too many don't. You may laugh, but if Bedlam or Todd ever make a comeback lookout, it's low risk and possible high reward for both series. I don't mind holding onto multiple copies of books for the long haul when I think they may turn into something I can make money from down the road. For example: 1st Bloodstone, original and Elsa, one of them will end up in a Marvel movie at some point, I'd bet the house on it. 1st Phyla-Vell. Female cosmic herione, Capt Marvel connection, she will end up in a GOTG movie at some point, just wait

By far Marvel's best Netflix show (sorry DD, I loved you but this was the s**t!), almost through my 2nd binge of the series, been some 5 and 6:AM bedtimes since the weekend. I'm almost 50, a child of the '70's and grew up on the Dirty harry and Death Wish movie franchises, which coincidentally was when The Punisher made his debut so he was the perfect comic character for that era and this show stands out with the lack of those type of films lately. I had all of his appearances in ASM, and the black and white mags when they came out, was probably 6 when I got ASM 129 off the spinner rack and despite him not making regular appearances, he was one of my favorites as a kid. When you can only get one or 2 comics a month, getting a quarter from Mom was like pulling teeth, you're not really thinking much about how infrequent a certain character appears. My other favorites at the time were Silver Surer, Moon Knight and Adam Warlock, and they didn't pop up on a monthly basis either

Zabel Brothers was the printer for Bowman baseball cards in the late 40's - early 50's and then for Topps. It's a vacant lot now deep in the Philly badlands so there's no warehouse to raid for test proofs. Damn shame

I gotta disagree, I like the cover, it has an element that's been missing from most of the covers of late, maybe it's the inks or the coloring, but it looks like it can fit right in with the old WD logo covers. I hate hate hate the small logo that's been around since 127

Long answer:Tthe writers and artists at Marvel seem to be hell bent on the diversity thing to drive home a point instead of just doing great stories ( Vision and Moon Knight being exceptional exceptions) and after picking up some of the Generations issues, the art looks like the worst Archie books ever and I put them right back on the shelf. Short answer: By doing reboots of established characters (black, female etc) Marvel doesnt have to pay royalties to creators. I'm sure this was already said, but didn't read thru the whole thread because it's kinds late. I got that new issue of FOOM that was free at the LCS and the names that are shown for the late 1960's Marvel Bullpen, legends upon legends: Stan Lee, Neal Adams, Ayers, John Buscema, Gene Colan, Johnny Craig, Bill Everett, Don Heck, Gil Kane, John Romita , Jim Steranko, Roy Thomas.. point being, Marvel doesn't have anyone today who is worth carrying their lunch bag
