Just received two boxes of graded comics fresh back from CGC and most slabs are in nice condition, but there are a handful that have some issues. Looking for opinions as to whether these are worth returning for reholder and how this will affect resale value? These are all either 9.8 or 9.6. Some have lite scratches but a few have good size scuffing on the back. Took some quick pics but not easy to show with the reflective slabs. I realize that there is always a risk sending these slabs back and forth through the mail and going through the whole process is a bit aggravating. I also have a 9.4 that came back with a bent corner (not the first time this happened to me). That one is going back.

Be careful. You're upsetting my 9.8 Rabbit (captured raw in the 80's) -
question on V for Vendetta #6
jokiing replied to Geoff2099's topic in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions
Good question... possibly an error at gocollect. I believe these are all reprints from Warrior magazine so unless there is something special about #6 i'll go with my suspicion. -
Can a comic still get a 9.9 if it is pressed?
jokiing replied to L1L-syAm0n's topic in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions
Keep in mind that the graders at CGC will be handling the book as well, including a page count, so handling of the book, by pressers or the dude that rang up the book at the shop, is part of the game. -
Packing Slip Has Username. How to Change?
jokiing replied to Upgrayedd2's topic in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions
As long as you haven't shipped off your order you can just start a new submission form with the corrections. Items are not entered into CGC system until they have them in hand. You'll need to call CGC about any specific requirements. They will tell you what is doable and how to include comments if possible. Good luck. -
If you're saying that you filled out a submission form but haven't mailed it to CGC then you can simply start a new form with the book(s) that you want to submit. Submissions are not put into CGC's system until they are delivered and in their possession.

how to take pictures for Ebay
jokiing replied to aleksicwon's topic in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions
I'd be more concerned with some of the "characters" on ebay, especially with high value books. I sell all my slabbed comic books thru MyComicShop. 10% up to $300 and 8% above the $300 mark. -

CREEPSHOW Stephen King
jokiing replied to This is Who We Are's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
1982.... I recently sent my copy to Joey for pressing and then onto CGC. Should see it by next Christmas. -
Don't forget the "grader must have had a fight with his wife the night before" excuse.

Encouraging news... my 8/12 submission should be right around the corner... Thanks for the update

how to take pictures for Ebay
jokiing replied to aleksicwon's topic in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions
Taking photos of slabs. Camera on tripod (using timer) with a black poster board or similar non reflective material behind camera to cut reflections on slab. If room is too dark or light not even (flat), lights can be used at about 45 degrees from both sides. If lights are too harsh, something like thin tissue paper can be put in front of lights to soften and spread illumination. Light can also be bounced using a white board, also at 45 degrees so as not to reflect onto the slab. -

new comic not listed yet ?
jokiing replied to DMDIVRIS's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
Check the indicia of the comic book to be sure you're using the full actual title. The submission form can be fussy with titles at times. Also check the date(s) offered to make sure it matches up. Not sure what comic you're submitting but one example could be .... "Amazing Spider-Man: Venom 3D #1" .... Might need a call to CGC if none of the choices match up. Keep the certificates. CGC won't slab them and more than likely not return them. Good luck and welcome to the boards. -
Bronze age comics that are heating up on eBay...

Took a while to figure out what box these were in since I pulled them awhile ago. Was worried for a bit but knew they would show up in the last place I'd look. -

Both names quite legible, written in ink. Will definitely give CGC a call if I decide to send them in. Having names depicted on label would be ideal. -

I have a few copies with Kirby/Gerber signatures on first page. Wonder how CGC would treat these? -
