  1. I was looking at that TAT today because I am finally getting my 70's comic books shipped, one box at a time, from the east coast. So far I have 24 pre-1975 that I'd like to send in for grading. 23 days is tempting but I estimate my old books will grade between 7.0 and 9.0 so even though there are some nice keys it's hard to justify the extra $15 per book when I'll also be paying shipping x3 and cleaning/pressing. One thing that I don't quite understand is why CGC is charging $35 but only offering $400 max insurance... (same as modern) and taking three times as long to grade.
  2. Yes... Getting grader notes on recent submissions with finger bends and small dents on books that haven't been read and pressed by someone that a lot of us know and trust. It's affecting the grades and my confidence in CGC.
  3. I'm happy to see art as a driving factor. That's what drove my collection in the 70's.
  4. Magazine WT is 12 days, which I find hard to believe since CGC usually treats mags and economy like the stepchild they never wanted. #releasetheeconomy
  5. Did you.... "mark each side of your shipping box with WK in large, bold letters." If not, your package will end up in a long line waiting to be opened. Walk through for magazines is now 12 days (once received).
  6. About to pack up 16 books and label the box ME. Sadly 6 of these (two different orders) had already made one trip to ME. Three out of six that arrived today from ME have great looking, scratch free slabs but two contain plastic debris and one 9.2 now has a tear on the back cover.
  7. Guess I should consider myself lucky with only 10 out of 25 having the same issue in my latest box.
  8. I bought a handful of this issue back in the day and to my surprise this one had a Frank Miller signature hidden in plain sight on page 1. Too bad I didn't notice before I sent it in so that I could take a pic. Guessing it's FM's older signature that was legible, like on the cover of my DD158. Both probably bought from Golden Apple in Los Angeles.
  9. First, an invisible book. Now, an invisible slab. What's next?
  10. The turn-around time for ME has lately been around a week and a half. My latest received 5/9 and shipped 5/18
  11. Just unpacked a fresh box of 25. Was looking good when I started but then the reject pile started growing and I thought that there was a chance that it would outpace the keepers. Unboxing ended with nine scratched fronts and one with debris on a black cover... can't miss it. Getting tired of all the scratched covers.... recently sent back 15 from two previous orders. They're mostly long, thin scratches straight down the fronts.
  12. "Bent and Dirty" .... Is that the title of this book?
  13. Sure, If they're paying attention. There's a spot to write in a description of the problem on the submit form. I've started circling defects with marker to up my chances
  14. Mostly scratches, scuffs, debris and a couple with bent corners. Nothing too crazy, but still annoying.
  15. 27 out of 44 returned for ME since beginning of year. I can't remember it being as bad as this.
  16. May 9th: Last of my 1/13/22 Modern finally hit G/E/I. My other two shipped 4/22....
  17. Regarding fingerprints... if the grades are all high then I would think it obvious that the fingerprints happened post grade. Good idea to take photos of your comic books before you sent them in just in case.
  18. Gotta be a corner of the vault that they either forgot about or can't reach. One Modern Rcvd 1/13/22 still stuck in SfG while the other two of the same vintage shipped two weeks ago. What the what!!
  19. In the 80's I started collecting vintage pre 1970 Matchbox because I had a collection when I was a kid. Collection got pretty big with all the variations and new models. Quickly turned into collecting Vintage Hot Wheels and then current 1980's HW as well. Diecast collecting was big at that time. Most of the 80's stuff has little value today so it is a hobby of the love of cars. I stopped collecting the new stuff out of frustration because of greedy scalpers who would be at Target or TRU when the doors opened and would run and grab any of the HTF blisters.
  20. If you look up the certificate # that should give you the paper color. I wouldn't chance sending back for this minor QC issue.
  21. Picked up three copies early 2020. Value has easily tripled for my 7 - 7.5's
  22. That's Pete650 with a small "p".... if you know what I mean... and also all lower case
  23. Second box arrived today. Six out of nine have long scratch down the front of slab. Correction for my earlier post quoted above... "More than half" is actually 9 out of 10. Some with similar 3/4 length scratch as 2nd box. All going back. So tired of this lack of quality control. Added image, but as many know, it's sometimes hard to capture what's going on with all the reflections. Anyway, this scratch, which is on a majority of my slabs from both boxes, starts at the top, across the label and goes 3/4 down the front.
  24. More than half of the box of ten delivered today have large scratch on front of slab. Shouldn't be more anxious than excited in opening a CGC shipping box.
