Congratulations on getting the Signature Series comic book. The signings were witness by a CGC employee and was in their possession from time of signing until encapsulation. No need to get any further authentication. Please post a picture of the book so that we can see what you have and confirm.
PS.... Yes, way better than a COA

If they are on the outside, doesn't that debunk the 'NR prevention' theory?
Absolutely... just pointing out that case defects come in all shapes, sizes, inside and out. Newton Rings are just one of many issues that one has to be on the lookout for with every fresh box that's delivered.

Treasury bags are 13 1/2" tall, plus 2" flap. How tall are your 1st Editions?
@RobHW Edit... Thanks for the update and noting that the Treasury boards are only 13 3/8" tall

That's standard risk mitigation procedure for MCS.
Yes, and a good policy. I just wish they would be more descriptive, even if it's just using the word "minor", in cases where there may be just a small scuff or scratch. Kind of leaves the buyer guessing as to how bad the case is since it's more than likely one can't see the case flaws in the scans.

working on books from beginning of the year I am early February with some fun fun books. Moon Girl gets a make-over!!!
I've got a 3rd week of January order. Couple early Spider-Man in the order that unfortunately will spend a year at CGC. Great news that they are so close to being vaulted at CGC.

I just consigned 25 CGC graded comic books with MCS. All are from the same CGC order. Every one is described on MCS with scuffs with variations of outside front, outside back, outside front and back, outside and inside, etc....
Granted, I saw the scuffs, but they were all minor and not worth the risk to send back to CGC for a fix and I understand that MCS needs to protect their sales from being returned. The QC is just in a sad state. Hope they fix it soon.

It's worth noting that "ME" stands for mechanical errors, because it was a 9.8 prescreen, which means they were only supposed to be 9.8's that got encapsulated or slabbed. The fact they sent back a "9.6" in a slab constitutes the "error"
Got me mixed up with Stefan_W. My books were not pre-screen. Was awarded a 9.8 but had to send back via Mechanical Error because books arrived with staple tears. CGC turned them into 9.4's

Some of my Economy have left the tracking list... at least there was some movement...

Recent feedback of a bidder named RobRobe181. Not my feedback, but It may as well be, because the situations are almost exactly the same.
"Unfortunately the buyer did not pay for their winning auction, and also did not to respond to multiple requests for updates or requests for payment. This buyer is being blocked and reported to Ebay.'

How did you know your X-Mens were graded 9.8?
CGC graded them at 9.8 and I sent back as ME and CGC regraded the books, that they damaged, at 9.4

Just opened a box of 25, fresh off the UPS truck. No scuffs (well, one small one) on the cases. Big improvement there.
(22) with Newton Rings
(2) 9.8 X-Men 1 (1991) cover pulled away from bottom staple on both. Too tight an inner well perchance.
(1) 9.8 Thor 372 bent lower front corner.
Also need to return Ronin 6 for the third time. First it was debris, next it was Newton Rings and now it's Newton Rings and debris.
Over a month and finally my ME shipment has gone out. My two X-Men 1, which were originally graded by CGC at 9.8 have come back to me graded 9.4 due to damage post grade. Not happy.

Are qtips a good tool to use for this type of application?
Not "Q-Tips", but cotton swabs that are used for cleaning such things as electronics. Stiffer and tightly bound (usually on a wooden stick), it shouldn't leave fibers behind if wet with a touch of Naphtha.

I was surprised by how much damage there was to the book when I received it back.
I called in, spoke to a rep. She started suggesting credits etc, until I sent her the pictures. "Oh that little thing in the corner?" She made it sound like it was virtually impossible to see the damage.
I mean... I am not sure what else I can do here. I have emailed multiple pictures.
Umm... These reps are not graders. She has no business telling you anything about the book's grade.

This hasn't happened to me yet fortunately, but if you end up with damaged slabs coming to you from CGC or other quality control issues that lead to them reholdering them free of charge, do they regrade the book or just slap it in a slab and send it back?
On 9/8/2022 at 8:37 AM, NumminzAK said:All of my latest interactions with CGC have resulted in them basically saying "It wasn't us...nothing you can do." This company has become a joke and people should stop using them.
So if it hasn't happened to you yet what interactions are you having with CGC that makes you so bitter towards them?

If it doesn't bother you, I'd keep as is until you decide it may be time to pass along the collection.... by then CGC may have a new and improved case.

Reholder due to case crack.
If there was no possibility of damage to the comic book due to the crack then they would not have a reason to regrade. The new cert.# is puzzling and maybe worth a call once you receive the book.
They would have to remove the book from the inner sleeve to adjust the archival paper so hopefully that didn't cause an issue on their end.
-
Why was it sent in for reholder? Mechanical Error?
-
I think you're confused. The process is slower and profit margins are through the roof because the grading is now outsourced to China and as we all know, the docks have been backed up for quite a while. Books are anchored at sea in hot containers waiting to be unloaded.
SpoilerI saw a video on the YouTube so it has to be true

Book 1 was 9.8 as expected.
Book 2 was 9.0 with notes stating bends to the bottom corner of the book. Was expecting 9.4/9.6.
I will post scans when they arrive.
Is your presser CGC certified?

BTW, if your Ebay name is the same as on here, thanks for the Eerie #17!
You're welcome... and I've got three i's in my ebay handle, so it's close. The Eerie is from my older collection that's back east. Trying to get a friend to send stuff out...little by little, so more 70's stuff heading to ebay (or CGC).
