  1. Is it still the procedure to first contact customer service with the list of books to send in due to ME or are we now going directly to the submission page and filling out the ME return form?

I heard somewhere that doing self-returns was in the works.  Thanks, Joe

I have a case where 2 books have been mixed up, Detective 474 & 475 had the wrong labels installed in the slab & possibly the grading mixed up as well.

Any recommendations for a solution?I am planning another submission soon

You can return to CGC for a fix. Contact customer service and they will send you to the submission page to fill out a form1387753372_ScreenShot2022-08-10at8_36_37PM.png.03455143a635fb43090aa857f98d6683.png

CGC covers cost to reholder and shipping both ways. Be sure to write "ME" on all sides of box and add notes to the slabs explaining the errors so nothing is missed. Takes about two weeks.

There had been complaints about how fingerbends were suddenly being mentioned in notes and in a standardized kind of way. The phrase was showing up for both pressed and unpressed books and Mike was welcoming specifics so he could make an inquiry.

This is typical and is likely the case.

Per Mike: "Please send me the submission numbers along with this text.  That goes for everyone else that have had books pressed and are receiving noted with finger bends, and a low percentage of 9.8's or lower grades than they were expecting.  I will send in all of the submission numbers, text etc... and we will try to find out what is going on with unexpected finger bends and/or lower grades than you were expecting.  Keep in mind, number of books, grades, graders notes submission numbers and any other comment that applies will give us a better chance to find out what is going on.  If there's a problem, you can help to fix it by sending me the above data I have asked for."

  4. Spider-Man #1 poly-bagged books are sent in for grading with or without the bags and this has caused some confusion and mislabeling at CGC. If you want to make sure it's labeled correctly I agree that it would be best to send in still in poly-bag and have it pressed by CCS.

I respectably disagree with The Meta about the 1st printing newsstand variant being sold without Poly-bag. One of us is right. :foryou:

This is an interesting situation. So, if I have a CGC 9.4 Signature Series book, and submit it for CCS Press, and Grading, it will keep the Yellow-Label, but may receive a higher Grade (or Lower) It would be re-valuated post pressing and re-slabbed?

Yes, it will be pressed, then graded and slabbed. As long as it's in CGC's possession, still sealed in slab, it will keep it's yellow label.

Signature Series are pressed after signing (in case of rough handling by artist) then graded and slabbed.

The finger bend stuff has been an issue lately and I believe  @CGC Mike still wants to know about these kind of situations. If you have a moment, please PM him with a description of the issue, your transaction number, and probably the slab numbers affected.

The books were not pressed so no way to know when the finger bends happened.

  7. You'll need to call customer service but I'm pretty sure that you can not add services once the books are in their possession.

As far as pressing goes, there are boards members with more experience who can give you a better idea of what to possibly expect but I can see some improvement is possible although the cost of grading will barely cover the value of some of these books. It all depends on why you're having them graded.

You can post these on Hey buddy, can you spare a grade? to get an idea from some knowledgeable folks.

Some of mine have excessive Newton rings too. 22 returns on 25! That is awful.

Any idea how long it takes to get the books back?

They have been pretty quick at about 2 weeks, plus the one day shipping. Don't forget to mark the box with "ME" on all sides or it will take a lot longer.

.... and marking with blue tape is a good alternative.
