  1. As much as I like to see a successful Spider-Man film, I am in the minority who didn't think Far From Home was very good. The current iteration of the franchise continues to be dogged by multiple horrific mis-castings in multiple key roles and although I can appreciate what they "tried" to do with Mysterio, I just did not like how the battles played out, and especially the final battle. The best part of the movie was the JJJ post credit scene. As for the Sony-Disney ruckus, let's just say that money makes everybody stupid. Sony, emboldened by the success of FFH and Venom now likely think they can go it alone. Disney, emboldened by its success everywhere else got greedy and asked for too much. They essentially want half of Spidey back without paying anything for him. Meanwhile Sony holds the last major Marvel IP and will likely never sell it back at this point. Spider-Man is the biggest solo hero in cinemas, even a half-baked Venom movie damn near made a billion dollars. Both sides have benefited greatly from the arrangement, Civil War probably did a quarter billy more just because Spidey was in it. FFH made over a billy as the epilogue to Phase 3. Disney has no home runs queued up for Phase 4, and Sony will get no more MCU bumps with Spidey. Both sides will lose because of this. ....although I have to say that I am not entirely bummed out about all this if it means a proper Spidey/Venom face off in Venom 3. -J.
  2. If things keep going like this, FF 48 may end up being the biggest winner on the year after all. -J.
  3. And why would that (irrespective of the fact that it is impossible) be "hysterical" to you ? -J.
  4. Ain't it about time old Juggy got his own thread? This has always been one of my favourite (and most under-valued, IMO early X-Men keys). It certainly has a lot going for it with both the first appearance/origin of the Juggernaut as well as the origin of Prof. X. I know there's some beautiful and high grade copies lurking on these boards, so let's see 'em! I'll start things off with my own humble entry. I just wish I had gotten around to upgrading it before the price surge, but oh well it'll have to do! -J.
  5. Solid points from all three of you guys. -J.
  6. That would be interesting if so. But again, unless Disney is looking to spend even more $ on a low tier character that will be perceived by general audiences as derivative, why go through the bother ? If they had Spider-Man I guess I could see them just trying to complete the set, but they don't. They wanted Fox for the villains anyway, and they got them. So what exactly would be their incentive to go hard for Subby? -J.
  7. No hulk is different than Submariner (and she-hulk). Marvel can use hulk in avengers/affiliated movies but can't do a solo hulk unless universal does distribution. Sub-mariner, Universal owns outright, has no historical avengers affiliation. So unless Disney wants to pay universal to use submariner, none of these rumours are worth a tinkers dam (most rumours aren't). And if you think about it for two seconds, why would Disney be eager to pay universal for anything after spending $90BB for the far more famous and marketable Fox properties on what general audiences would now see as derivative character that WB just did? -J.
  8. Did Marvel buy the rights back from Universal and no one heard about it ? -J.
  9. There have been other, more recent sales, both public and private that have exceeded $32k a point since May this year on lower/higher mid-grade copies. This was a low result for this copy. Agree to disagree on the reasons or causes. -J.
  10. Different buying pools but it still sucked the air out of the proverbial room from that other Cap. It looked like an also ran in comparison. If it was just that Cap 1 I think the 5.5 would have been closer to the $175k-$200k @Dark Knight predicted. -J.
  11. The Cap 1 5.5 went low I think it's fairly obvious that the 9.4 copy sucked a lot of air out of that one. -J.
  12. Let's not kid ourselves, the "real bidding" probably stopped at around $35k on that. -J.
  13. Wow great copy. What grade was your previous copy? Nice book as well @Mercury Man -J.
  14. That's the attempted narrative. That no one can prove. So we revert to what DC says. And they have the final word. https://www.dcuniverse.com/encyclopedia/lex-luthor/ -J.
