  1. Hard to be precise with the images provided (you must know someone who has a scanner) but as others have said-- it is in the 3.0/3.5 range based on the conditions seen. Even with a scan, you probably are in that range
  2. Thanks-- only wish I could have kept up with the bidding for your 9.0 DD 158 you have on ebay.
  3. while I would not dispute what you are saying, my quest was for something a little less HG but at a reasonable price. Happy to report I found one. #13 or 52 are my next targets. Having a blast putting together my mid range run. Mid grade runs! pretty happy with this copy of #38 I recently bought picked up these others lately as well.... though nothing spectacular condition-wise
  4. what annoys me sometimes is when they send an ebay purchase first class but only use 4-5 ounces of packaging (total including the book) when for the same price up to 8 ounces at $2.60. WHy not add some more cardboard to the package? I am also seeing tons of people sending it using cut up priority mail cardboard sandwiches. I have a problem with using the PM materials (short of them being simply recycled) especially when they don't even bother to use the entire 8 ounces allotted. I've been lucky so far in terms of nothing being bent or damaged but it seems so lazy of the seller.

  6. the description of how the books were bagged reminds me of a fellow collector I knew when I was a kid in the south suburbs of Chicago. He used produce bags from the store with tape to fit the overlap behind the books. His name was Bill M. -- would be crazy small-world like if they were his books. Of course-- it was probably something many did back then.
  7. Allowed myself a little bit of budget to spend recently and picked up some DDs I've wanted for some time (14, 17, 18, 42 and a bunch of bronze ones). Sadly 38 still eludes me but I am hopeful to get a 13 soon. Nothing as nice as the high grade awesome books that guys like Rob have but nice to finally have my own copy without spending more than I can afford.
  8. Mr. Fish was always out of his depth. this image could make a nice complimentary meme for the Batman slapping Robin one
  9. If I found a gem like that, I would have trouble parting with it.
  10. And for that matter-- why bother having it SS encapsulated? The book is for you as a keepsake-- no need to have it authenticated as the point isn't selling it down the line. Have him sign a book you like and frame it up for your wall.
  11. no problem -- I will check them out in that forum-- thanks
  12. awesome books!! would like to see some shots of the JIM 83 if possible too congrats on that find!
  13. this thread is both awesome and humbling at the same time.
  14. I was a Marvel only collector as well but could not resist the chance to buy the occasional #1 book off the rack. BL fit that area of my collecting back then. Still have it. An the wonder twins-- as camp as they are--- are widely known by many people. Who hasn't occasionally thrown out a line about "Wonder Twin powers activate!"? Mostly I knew it from the tV cartoon.
  15. congrats--- know you have been searching for this HG book for quite a while. Any holes left in your DD collection?
  16. just a point of clarification-- as far as I know, there is no actual "list" being kept/distributed of ebay buyers or sellers. Those of us who follow this thread do read about the interactions others have had and it is up to each person to decide whether or not the name should be blocked. That is not to say that most of these folks who are called out aren't worthy of being blocked. Just that it is ultimately the responsibility of the reader to make the determination for themselves. We try not to post our own block lists for that very reason as some names get added without due diligence. While there was initially a list being kept - it is probably better for all concerned not to continue publishing it. Some have asked others to share their block list via PM-- which works if you trust that persons judgement.
  17. interesting - I've always read on this forum that folks thought the UK books were printed at the same time and place as the US version. It would seem to make sense to send the means to print them rather than the bulk books. I've never heard anyone write this until now. Is there any supporting evidence?
  18. that 3.0 is nice but hard to see how it got that grade with a missing upper right front corner.
  19. there was a red hulk the page before the first green hulk.... what if they went with red instead?
  20. so if I follow an auction-- put in several bids but I don't win-- should I also be compensated when you don't send me a comic as well? I mean-- all that effort I put in-- I demand compensation! That is how the guy sounds to me-- unreasonable. Best to let this one go and just block/move on. He is giving you no method to reconcile the situation and punishing you for his inability to communicate as well as his unwillingness to forgive an honest error that he was promptly refunded for in the first place.
