  1. My initial thought when seeing the fee increase was that I better put together a submission for my ~20 copies of star wars high republic 1… but… why? Why the rush? @NewWorldOrder has me second guessing myself now… every time you mention drek that people submit to CGC I think of my recent modern submissions… perhaps when I get them back from CGC in 2 years they will at least be worth more than my cost to submit them…
  2. With the fee increases, my modern slabs have increased in value by $2.
  3. All good, I will carry forward my opportunity costs/losses which will offset the $2 profit.
  4. So I just have to make sure I sell my modern 9.8s for at least $24. All my drek 9.8s have effectively increased in value by $2 with the fee increases. Maybe I can sell them for a profit now.
  5. I skipped all the reprints, the final 5th print likely is the best to get over the other reprints… simply because it probably has the lowest print run and it is more easily recognizable with it being the 1st print cover but in black and white. Glancing quickly at the 2nd… 3rd… and 4th prints… I think they can be more easily confused as being 1st prints but variant covers.
  6. HRA #1 came out hot with the yoda 1:10 variant but has cooled substantially since. Can it get to $100 again in a CGC 9.8 in the near future? The main cover is treading water at cover price or a little above that. Could be a good time to buy more of this book if you believe in it long term. I guess I missed bounty hunters 14 completely. Not really looking to buy anything new at the moment, my comic budget is completely spent with multiple submissions currently with CGC.
  7. 4 modern Star Wars comics that I'm currently watching closely: High Republic 1 Continues to be stable selling for between $20 to $30 for raw books, closer to $30 still for the Hans variant. CGC 9.8s are ranging from $80 to $100 which is a healthy spot for it to be holding without much news in terms of show development. I am tempted to submit the remaining 20 or so raw copies that I have to be graded, but am holding off for now. I have 3 copies at CGC now. High Republic Adventures 2 Many people are seeing this book as having high spec potential in 2022 (in this forum as well). The youtube community is pushing this book a bit too. Raw copies are going for between $5 and $13. The high sale is from the UK though, I find that UK sales often create outliers so I put this book around $8 at the moment. CGC 9.8s are around $50 to $90. The 1:10 incentive is between about $80 and $100. I have 10 copies of the normal cover and one of the 1:10 incentives. Holding off submitting them for now... also waiting for CGC to recognize the 1st appearance in their label before I consider submitting any of my copies. When the time comes to sell these graded, buyers will want the appearance noted on the label... so due to that, I want it there too. Jabba the Hutt Bounty Hunters 1 Mostly selling for cover price still. Might be a good time to buy a 1:25 incentive cover. For now, I just have 10 copies of the Chang variant. I thought there might be some controversy with this cover, but also like it for the 1st appearance. High Republic Adventures - Monster of Temple Peak 1 Had a recent high raw sale of $25.41, perhaps an outlier. Raws are generally going for around $5 to $6 or just cover price. CGC 9.8s are around $60. I have 10 copies of this issue.
  8. Each time you call they bump your books down a grade.
  9. Ok so maybe 3 more months for my moderns received on 9/14…
  10. I need to sell everything. Will slab more books to assist with that.
  11. Sadly I think they would consider Toronto first.
  12. I’d be willing to wait a few extra months for 9.9s.
  13. CGC could really speed things up if they just gave every book a 9.8.
  14. The submissions received in September were delivered July 30 or so. The December submission was likely delivered this past Friday, so ya, they are still opening packages relatively fast.
  15. Been thinking about this all day. I suggest 2 sales forums. One forum for even days of the week then the last one being for odd days. It all depends on the day the sales thread is posted. Sunday starts as being in the odd forum along with threads posted on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Every second week though it switches. In the 2nd week Sunday is actually now in the even forum. This approach makes it a lot more simple for everyone. Oh, if you get confused and post in the wrong forum, you get banned of course.
  16. This would be more fun if it was 2 or 3 books at a time over multiple rounds in order to build more suspense (moving up and down the rankings after each round). This creates more banter for the community. Then having your “playoff” round as you suggested (some players eliminated). I appreciate that this translates to more effort. Perhaps 4 contests a year is too much… 2 a year probably works better as it builds anticipation for the next contest and doesn’t demand as much for donations.
  17. Definitely mixed. I wouldn’t limit prizes to just the top 2 to 5 (distribution of donated prizes). Typically there are enough donations for every participant.
  18. That mostly answers it. However, as part of the submission process to mycomicshop, do you have to declare what your intentions are (Consign vs sell to mycomicshop immediately)? Or once the book has been received by mycomicshop could I delay making a decision which would delay that 12 to 24 month listing period from starting? For example, in the scenario where I provide 20 copies of the same book (I do actually have 20 copies of a slab), I probably don’t want to list all 20 at once… if I list 2 at a time until all are sold (assume I’m using buy it now), that might take longer than 12 months to sell them all (especially if I’m also not comfortable with its current fmv - and am also waiting for it to get a spec spike in value). What happens once a book has “overstayed” its welcome (listed beyond the 12 to 24 month timeframe)? What has mycomicshop done previously when that happens? Email notification with an offer from mycomicshop to buy it out or is it automatically shipped back to the consignor at the consignor’s expense? Im not trying to be difficult, really considering sending all my slabs to mycomicshop.
  19. For everyone elses’ benefit, I found the answer to this one, books can be mailed back to the consignor - it is stated as a rare request.
  20. - Once I have sent books to mycomicshop, is there no limit to how long they can stay with them? For example if I have books there for 5 years, no storage fee? - Can I ask for books to be sent back to me if I change my mind about selling them (consignment)? - Can I send books to CGC to be graded… then have CGC send them directly to mycomicshop after grading is completed? This would be popular for Canadians. - Any restrictions for graded restored books? Do you buy them? They can be consigned?
  21. I think moderns should start at 1970. Starting at 1975 just doesn’t make sense.
