Movies that didnt help their related comic books value
aardvark88 replied to Hollywood1892's topic in Comics General
Did Jonah Hex movie come out in 2010? 1 of the only comic book movies to get a Rotten Tomatoes score of nil or negative. Still the Jonah Hex comics themselves were consistently well written. -
Overall, I hope STMC runs this fundraiser once/year. Bought a Wilbur #4 to read, as I enjoy the circa 1945 innocent artwork pre-Katy Keene:
-
Won a STMC charity auction with 13 sigs from 'The 100' sci-fi tv series for a reasonable bid:
-
No problem with loading zone partially covered from rain. Nice mix of comic and toy vendors for 1st time show. Always comics to buy if one has time to dig:
-
Decent attendance in first 1/2 of the show especially in front of Fanboy's discount table:
-
Yes, a lot of labor went just into setting up the industrial blue cover on the gym floor so our hand trucks would not scratch up the surface. Good Star Trek movie and Dark Knight background tunes. Neat Keen Stuff rack:
-
The food cafe was good with roast chicken and salad for $7.50. Blow out of overstocked pasta at the end of show for $1 /round aluminum container for dinner. Neat Keen Stuff sold his Hulk #181 and other semi-keys:

especially when you proffer the finest inland crab and chop suey that Calgary has to offer. Thank you Clobberin' Time for taking care of greggy.

Mr Woo was based out of Seattle, WA about 33 years ago and drove all over the USA and Western Canada to buy/sell/trade vintage comics and newer hot comics of the day (e.g. Killing Joke, etc). He was later based out of Vancouver, BC, Canada. He basically did not buy or restock any vintage back issues for about 25 years before having his high grade SA and GA comics slabbed by Voldemort grading and auctioned off by HA.com.

Dane Whitman/Black Knight First Appearance #47 or #48?
aardvark88 replied to Xenosmilus's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
Avengers #47 has a flaccid yellow cover so I would vote for the key being Avengers #48 (a la Hulk #180 vs #181). I think Dane Whitman is a relative/nephew (?) of the Atlas Black Knight #1 (1955)? -
They have also posted up direction signs promoting the con at corners near the Kingsway Burnaby and New Westminster border. 'Comic Adventures' will be at wall tables #6 to #10 on the right hand side of the entrance next to Galinski's comics with wall tables # 25 and 26. Not sure which vendor is upfront next to front door: perhaps Cdn Comics.net who helped St. Thomas More promote their con with their Vancouver Comic Show website?

Moderns that are heating up on ebay!
aardvark88 replied to thirdgreenham's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
(Savage) Avengers #1 vs 1st comic book app. of Cristiana Ronaldo's Striker Force 7 or go for the lower print run Overstreet Guide to Collecting to learn how to grade like Overstreet. -
Sorry, no food trucks. Cafetaria will be serving soup, Jamaican patties, pasta, roast chicken, salad, pizza, coffee (cream/sugar), tea, pop, bottled water at reasonable prices.
-
St. Thomas More will have a silent auction for autographed sci-fi TV series '100' items. Other comic vendors will be Cdn Comics.net, Neat Keen Stuff, and Galinski. Their cafetaria should be open for snacks/lunch: located upstairs from the 2 gyms and then walk north. * 1 week to this Sat. con *

'Shazam' movie official thread (because he deserves one too)
aardvark88 replied to Bosco685's topic in The Movie Forum
Glad Shazam was a success for Warner Bros./DC. Pic of my original stat comic art from circa 1977: -
I am partial to the outstanding Mask #2 cover but it is only a 2 issue set to collect so collectors will try to buy both.
-
OK, Fanboy and I are looking forward to this inaugural comic/toy show that will have more young families, teenagers and elementary school kids. About 2 weeks left. As usual, a wide variety of comics and mags will be available:
-
Veronica Lodge and her posse film near Vancouver, BC which is too far away from FL's Megacon. Wrong end of the country.
-
Nice bit of co-op online advertising at vendor Canadian Comics.net for Knights Comics and Collectibles show run by the non-profit St. Thomas More Collegiate. Not sure how loud the speakers will be for the eSports gamers at this show.
