  1. Recommend reviving 'Space Hawk' but not sure what current artist draws like Wolverton:
  2. Nice to see raw black spine comics with nice cover colors after all these decades: Planet #36:
  3. I don't think there were that many hi-grade Planets available even back around 1975. Was just happy to pick up this Planet that still had original cover lustre on the black cover at this late stage:
  4. Diamond's Scoop reporting Calgary expo attendance about 90,000 which is WAY higher than Fan Expo Vancouver: Calgary Expo pics
  5. Anything that creates even speculative demand is good for back issue sales on previously dead or slow sellers (Atlas/Seaboard comics 1970s). Seems like the newly found semi-key comics spike up 2 to 5 X guide, hit a plateau then go down 20% due to a new spec being 'discovered.' e.g. Marvel Preview mag of 1st Star-lord, then 1st Rocky Raccoon in the Marvel Preview 'Satanna' mag and in Hulk comic.
  6. Wonder why Vicki #1 cover price was set at 50c: double the cost of a regular 25c Atlas/Seaboard?
  7. Looking forward to UK Marvel films like Capt Britain, Excalibur, and Black Knight:
  8. Also collect assorted sci-fi signatures. These are sigs from 'The 100' tv series filmed in the Vancouver, BC area:
  9. Also collect circa 1950s lobby cards that are sci-fi or comic book related:
  10. Plus Black Knight was a partner with Capt Britain who is being hyped now.
  11. First full app. of newer Black Knight, choice white cover with full image of Black Knight. My LCS has a Voldy slabbed 7.5 aggressively priced at about $485 Cdn funds. Trending that hot now?
  12. 2 different Jan, 2020 preview evenings for the Comic Book Illuminati. New hotel location looks OK as much closer to John Wayne airport.
  13. More Frank Thorne and Ghita (not Red Sonja):
  14. Gil Kane and Romita Sr drew most of the 70s Marvel covers so the above Red Sonja cover deserves to garner an aggressive end price. Frank Thorne as the Wizard:
  15. Sheesh, one of my faves 'Conan vs the Man-ape' did not even make this list of prime Frazetta oils. The detail on 'Thuvia maid of Mars' was astounding when viewed in person at the Frazetta ranch.
  16. I think this Frazetta was called 'Savage World' used as a wrap-around mag cover in the 1960s.
  17. I just booked Quality Inn across from casino in Fife, WA for 2 queen beds and comp breakfast, free parking for $122 CDN including taxes. Free wi-fi per Expedia.ca . Have stayed there before.
  18. Is your hotel in Fife, WA or closer to Puyallup con? I will try to attend on the Saturday before Father's Day Sunday.
  19. Best reading for me on FCBD by far was 'Tex Patagonia,' a Western comic with good artwork that seemed to be from Heavy Metal mag or Metal Hurlant.
  20. I believe a well-known CA comic dealer wound up with the JLA #1 apparent nm 'file copy.' I purchased it from said dealer at SDCC for under the Dupcak mail order listed price of $900. I had buyer's remorse when I took it back to the SDCC hotel to inspect it closer (trimmed) but did not return the key to the SDCC dealer, as it was still the best copy I could find at that con.
  21. I had most of the late SA and BA Marvel runs completed by circa 1979 so bought my first published page of Dave Sim early 'Cerebus' original art that year mainly because I enjoyed the humorous writing, art, inking and he was in Canada. Might have got my first commissioned Arthur Adams full body pencil drawing of Galactus around 1980 for the princely sum of $10 for, at the time, a no-name artist. Still have it.
  22. 1 LCS let you pick up 4 FCBD comics of your choice, but I elected to grab 3 and then use a chit to enter a random draw for 1 of 3 DC toy/figures.About 1/2 of the crowd just came in, grabbed the 4 freebies, said Thank You, then sprinted out the door to do family things. Pikachu and Gold(?) Fish comic most popular with the kids. Getting harder to find Marvel BA at 'reasonable' prices from the bins:
  23. My LCS #1 allows fans to choose max 4 of their choice on FCBD or from 1st issue spec overstock from 30 years ago, or 2, if there are thicker graphic novel/humor 'freebies.' LCS #2 has 2 mystery packs meaning the adult or kid's (10 years and under) pack each contain a pre-selected mix of 6 to 7 FCBD comics.
  24. Regular cover to #1 is an homage to Frazetta's 'Conan, the Destroyer' painting. Very nice cover: both of them.
  25. Same with me. Only owned Action #10 and #13 with the best centerfold of the GA Action or Superman run:
