  1. I prefer FF Annual #2 with Dr Doom origin and time line twist story with Rama-Tut that confounded me as a child reading the reprint in FF King Size. Also, it had more full page Kirby pin ups of villians that was a continuation of the excellent Kirby pin ups in FF Annual #1!
  2. Godzilla rebooted movies seem to do well, so I am hoping for Fin Fang Foom vs Iron Man(?) movie without Robert Downey Jr, as I think he has retired from the Tony Stark role.
  3. Pics of the Wrightson, Frank Miller, Bruce Timm, Steranko, etc. Detective Comics #1000 covers are at the above link previously posted.
  4. Glad DC is doing the decades tribute covers. Sharp Bruce Timm tribute to Jerry Robinson's Detective Comics with Joker and pistols cover. Guess DC found an unpublished(?) Wrightson Batman cover image to print?
  5. If your formative years was the 1980s, then you will love the 80s soundtrack (A-ha, the Smiths, etc.). Yellow VW bug reminded me of Walt Disney's Herbie, the Love Bug in a good way. Overall, 8.5 out of 10. Recommended.
  6. My buddy greatly enjoyed Aquaman, the Atlantis world building, spcl fx on underwater technology, ships, weapons, and anti-pollution theme. I did not like movie due to the irritating deluxe sound system pumping out Tron: Legacy background music or some modern, overly loud hip hop tune. I would recommend the 1980s soundtrack to Bumblebee movie instead. Prequel to Transformers #1 movie had more heart, emotion, and logic (e.g. 1970s and 1980s cars in movie).
  7. Happy holidays from Marvel Comics Super Spcl mag #35 Conan, the destroyer:
  8. Killmonger (Black Panther) was a hit so next pick to click has to be Killraven due to state of current special FX:
  9. Congrats. Did you self-publish a b/w ashcan or prototype to see what your hard work would look like in print before being picked up for distribution by Dark Horse?
  10. In the 70s, you could have traded Detective #28 straight across for Detect #27 or Marvel Mystery #2 traded for Marvel Comics #1 per Theo's evaluation of his market value.
  11. Theo "will pay more for coverless Superman #1 than Action #1." Thus, a reprint of Action #1 pages is worth more than a REAL coverless Action #1. wtf.
  12. I think these are from 1980's Ahnold as Conan, plus Red Sonja with Simonson cover:
  13. Seems like Royer was at every SDCC I attended in 18 out of 21 years in a row so I would say that is an authentic sig.
  14. Printed in QC (Quebec), Canada like most USA comics.
  15. I guess Wondercon is never moving back to San Fran now? Interesting that if a vendor prepaid for his 10' x 10' booth by Aug. 11, 2018, the cost was discounted to $1,400 rather than current cost of $1,900 plus tax plus hotel plus parking plus ....
  16. Iron Fist by John Byrne was a solid, readable run:
  17. Seems like the 1993-94 implosion due to comic and sportscard spec followed similar pattern of the b/w boom and then gloom circa 1984-85 that crushed many LCS's. These hot 1:20 or 1:100 WEEKLY Wed. cover variants cannot be sustained in 2019.
  18. There are quite a few more coverless Detect #27 extant than coverless Action #1, so I would say the spread is $30k myself in favor of Action #1.
  19. I think those 30 x 8' tables will sell fast as some previous vendors wish to expand from 1 table to 2 tables. Also, some shops like Tazmania and Big Pete's Collectibles seem to be renewing their leases in 2019. If they are forced into smaller retail space then they will be selling more of their overstock perhaps at Van Comc Show at the PNE. There will be lots of competition and wide variety of comics and toys for sale:
  20. For collector/fans, the parking lot on the southeast corner of Hastings/Renfrew St may be cheaper, as I imagine the vendors will take up most of the $15 Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) parking. Also, lots of buses to that corner. e.g. #14 Hastings, #16 Renfrew, #95 Express bus (SFU). As the Forum building is long positioned north to south, Van Comic Show is renting out the South end and here is a sample of another PNE con Forum overhead layout
  21. Vancouver Comic and Toy Show is growing up to 22,000 square feet at NEW location Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) Forum south end at 2901 East Hastings at Renfrew Street, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. About 200 x 8' vendor's tables full of pop culture like vintage back issues, new comics, action figures, model kits, graphic novels, Star Wars, Star Trek, Dr Who collectibles and Funko Pop. Expanded hours 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for more family fun. Top door prizes are two (2) x $100 gift certificates to be raffled off. ATM will be available. Food trucks have been added for more variety. Admission is $12, kids under 12 FREE. Parking is $15. Comic and independent press guests to be announced at Vancouver (BC) Comic Show new location A wide variety of comics and magazines will be available:
  22. I will try to make it depending on how fast my 'chauffeur' drives from LAX. Is original comic art allowed for the Meet Up or is that larger than a small box so frowned upon due to limited display space?
  23. Sounds promising for Signature Series on Star Trek and Gold Key items. Interesting that FEV 2019 is about 7 weeks before Calgary Expo.
  24. Seems like the comic vendors that did participate did quite well without competition from the awesome Clobberin' Time. Mike's Comics and his sidekick neighbor from Wpg had solid retail sales.
