  1. Interesting that 'Titans' is debuting lots of heroes to tv like Hawk and (female) Dove, Doom Patrol, and Jason Todd who is young and annoying like in Detective Comics.
  2. Thor: let us know what the vendors and collector/fans think of the 8' x 8' dealer's booths. Looks like quite a few comic and game vendors there.
  3. e.g. Fan Expo Vancouver 8' x 8' booth is $970 plus $30/day parking but vendor does get 1 x 8' table for the 2.5 day con with projected attendance on a good weekend that may or may NOT hit 27,000 ppl.
  4. First SA comic my older brother bought via mail order from Robert Crestohl was Silver Surfer #1 vf- tear on cover. First SA comic I bought with my own money was Capt America #100 vf for over guide at a monstrous $4. Back then Howard the Duck #1 was a spec at $3. Later I flipped the Capt America #100 for an aggressive $8, and the adult collector complained bitterly and loudly about my over guide pricing as a teenager but still bought it.
  5. Do you know if this event will continue to be promoted/organized by Mary Ann and her Alberta team? Sorry to hear that she is out of the Fan Expo Vancouver for 2019 April.
  6. I have fond memories of the SA reprints like Marvel Tales, Marvel Collector's Items Classics and FF Annuals, as those were my first exposure to the earlier issues in elementary school:
  7. Cable X-force movie hype or bad taste in OA runs eternal? Guess it all depends on demographics of the bidders.
  8. +1. I shared a pancake dealer's breakfast with Stan Lee about 33 years ago at Edmonton comic-con. Stan was generous enough to walk around and shake hands with all the out of town vendors and lackeys like myself as a punk kid. International news coverage: just saw 2 minute feature about Stan Lee on Cantonese tv news!
  9. There may be a small Sunday Heritage Hall comic-con in Vancouver during the summer. Sorry, the much larger comic and toy-centric Vancouver Comic Show is only 3 times per year: Feb. 24, 2019, June Father's Day, and Sunday before Hallowe'en. Driving wise from Calgary, the hwy and roads should be clear of snow in June or Oct, 2019.
  10. Avengers #4 links the Sub-mariner finding Capt America encased in ice and then defrosted by the Avengers team:
  11. +1. We will be amazed at how much we collect and restock was influenced by Stan Lee: GA Timely, Atlas, SA and BA Marvels, the occasional DC comic too. RIP.
  12. Since you are driving from Calgary, AB, I recommend Vancouver Comic Show Sun. Feb 24, 2019 then road trip to Seattle Emerald City comic-con, tour shops in Portland, OR on your way to Wondercon, CA. But that is a lot of round trip driving. Van Comic Show has about 170 x 8' tables full of comics, toys, NES games, graphic novels so enough competition for decent pricing in Canadian loonies:
  13. From episode 1, they used Sabrina cover image from Giant Size Sabrina #1 (1970) twice plus seemed to have a background poster of Madhouse Comics with Sabrina in Harvey's bedroom. Bit fast paced, interesting fresh characters, and Madame Satan.
  14. I like to pick up low grade or coverless late 1960s readers out of $1 box. Can also cherry-pick nice Middleton covers on Catwoman:
  15. Quality vs quantity of OA selection hopefully. Organizer can sell twice as many vendor's tables if one adds vintage comics.
  16. Will see if I can visit my relatives near Berkeley on weekend of Sat. Jan. 19, 2019. Update your website with details when ready please.
  17. ... or perhaps GA Sub-mariner Comics #1, as 1st Dr Doom FF #5 has recently exploded in value even in mid-grade:
  18. Wonder if that means an Avengers movie Kang to Rama-Tut to Dr Doom story arc leading to a 3rd relauched FF movie?
  19. This may be the 2nd pre-Code comic I ever read. Violent slapping, bullets and blood:
