  1. Love that Detective 85 cover. Good to hear the interior artwork is just as nice. Great pickup!
  2. Heritage has a nice looking CGC 7.5 copy of #93 coming to auction in their January preview.
  3. I'll go with the All-American 16 on this one. I don't care that its restored when it's such a rare, desirable book. Super key vs. a book you could buy cheaply in a lessor grade. Oh, and the All-American has a cover price of 10 cents vs. the Nickel cover price of 5 cents. Clearly right off the newstand the All-American was more valuable.
  4. Shhhhh!! Be careful saying truths like that...you know who might hear you....
  5. Even with the large difference in CGC grades, the Action #1 trumps the Cap #1. Maybe if it was the famous, moldy Action #1 with the chunk missing from the front cover, then the Cap #1 wins, but only then.
  6. Do you still own the complete run? If not what issues (if any) do you still have?
  7. I don't recall ever seeing the cover to Flash 29 before. Very cool!
  8. Tough call on this one, as I'd love to have either book. However, I'll lean towards the Action 48. Supes 16 is hard to find in high grade, but Action 48 is just plain hard to find in any grade.
  9. Pick between Forbidden Love or Secret Hearts? What's behind door #3, a swift kick to the groin?
  10. Nice TEC 44! Definitely one of the best Golden Age TEC covers after issue 40. Looks like a real nice copy too.
  11. Awesome book Surfer! Tough book that doesn't come for sale in grades above 4.0 or so. You got it at a pretty nice price too.
  12. Nice set of Actions comicdonna. Your collection is really taking off. Are you going after certain issues in particular?
  13. Nice looking low grade unrestored key or higher grade restored key with nice pages: I'll take The Action 7.
  14. One week ban from the GA forum for mentioning bronze age Hulk comics. Seriously, it's an interesting comment you bring up. I agree that a better image of Luthor on Action 47 would probably make that book a little more valuable. I personally think that Action 23 is undervalued as it stands now even without Luthor on the cover. Also a tough book in high grade. The fact Luthor appeared many times in the interior between issues 24-46 may dilute the importance of his first cover appearance in 47. Oh, and both books are great, but I'll take the Rockford Action 23 over the 47.
  15. Cool key TEC pickup action1kid! I didn't know you dabbled in books valued under $20,000.
  16. That TEC 31 looks to be in real nice condition NewForce. What's the grade? Restored? You've certainly assembled some great books over the past few months.
  17. Thanks very much for the effort. I really appreciate it.
  18. Tougher than #3, you think? #2 is obviously tough, but prices on that book have increased enough recently that some supply has become available. You're right in that there are probably less #3's left in existence. However in my experience, I've seen less #8s actually come up for sale. No doubt both books are tough.
  19. In my four years of collecting, I'll agree with that opinion. There certainly are some hard to find Actions between 39-50, but Action 13 is probably tougher than those. It's funny, there are three Action #10s available now or will be very soon (Ebay Store, Comiclink, Heritage) but no #13 to be found. My opinion is that #8 is the toughest non-Superman cover.
  20. Here's my WTB marketplace link for a copy of Action Comics #13: LINK
  21. That Fight #32 has the best cover in the run IMO. Awesome book.
  22. Thanks everyone for the kind words on my Whiz 18. Many books on my want list were put there based on board members posting their books and me thinging "wow, I need me one of those" . I think I added this one to my want list when CentaurMan posted his awesome copy sometime ago. These boards have opened my GA collecting interests immensely. Thanks everyone!
  23. My first Fawcett! This book has been on my want list for quite a while now, and I was happy to find a nice low/midgrade copy. It's my poor man's Action #13 (Superhero stopping a train ) My favorite Whiz Comics cover:
  24. Wow, thebigloo is sure getting some nice prices on some of his books. Especially with 2 days left in the auction. Check out his Tec #34 with moderate resto & light tan/cream pages with a hint of brittleness. Graded VF and current bid is at $2,550. If I was selling this book I'd probably get $600.00. Tec 34 on ebay
  25. Thanks for posting the story podboy. One question, did the Sub-mariner ever appear in the interior stories in giant form like he did on many covers?
