Thanks. I guess it makes sense that it is the number of issues published thus far that year. So in the 90's, when they were publishing weeklys for a few months, I would expect to see numbers easily into the 30s.

7.5 as it sits. Probably 9.0 (maybe 9.2) with a proper clean and press.

I have never seen a Wrightson sig like that fully spelled out.
He signed this about 20 years ago; Len signed it at SDCC 2002 and Bernie had already signed it by then. I have several other books that are signed similarly, all from the same timeframe.

So did we ever reach a consensus about late-'70s Marvel Whitmans?
Fat Diamond (with a date)/UPC books were distributed in multi-packs in early '77 but those packs are not branded Whitman.
Later (when exactly?), Fat Diamond (w/o date)/No UPC books started showing up in Whitman bags.
Has anyone figured it all out yet? -

Spirou #1071 (1st Smurfs) is pretty desirable in all grades.

I was going through a stack of books the other day and found this doodle. "Sabin Gray" doesn't seem like a common name so I looked him up on Facebook. I sent a message to him asking if he used to collect comics and if this was possibly him. He responded a couple of weeks later and said, indeed it was him. He used to have subs to Marvel and DC books but was always more of a DC fan than Marvel. He would sometimes mark up his books like this. Hard times forced him to sell off his collection at some point in the early 2000s. I haven't heard back from him but I would like to get this book back to him at some point.

Were these reprints part of multi packs? I know that they had 3 or 4 packs of some comics that they would sell in grocery stores or book stores. I am pretty sure that's how I got my original Micronauts, Shogun Warriors, Star Wars 1-6, Return of the Jedi and Raiders of the Lost Ark
I think they were. Every book I can recall from that time that got a 2nd print I know was sold in a multi-pack. I don't know if they were every sold individually; I don't recall ever seem that.

The easiest way to tell reprints from this era is by looking at the issue/price box and the barcode box. On 1st print Direct editions you will have a Marvel logo of some sort in the barcode box (Spidey head or something other than a barcode) and the issue/price box will be an "M" shape (as opposed to rectangular on Newsstand editions). Reprints have a rectangular issue price box (like Newsstand) but the barcode does not have a bar code. This applies to most (if not all) mid-80s reprints... Secret Wars, GI Joe, Transformers, etc.

OK, drop the mike!
Wow, a little speechless with this one. A beautiful copy and signature with perfect placement. Stunning.
But part of me says, I would never get that copy signed especially on the cover. It’s just too nice.
It’s just my singular opinion and I am in no way ramming my opinion down anyone’s throat.
When I was way younger, I had Jerry Siegel sign my Superman #9 and Wrightson sign a beautiful House of Mystery #92 on the cover. Have always regretted it a bit.
Then, again, I’m an old school geezer and still prefer inside sigs.
It is restored. I had it for 25 years and got stand to sign it at SDCC in 2002 (before he was signing everything under the sun). Alas, I sold it about 5 years ago.

Show Us Your Examples of Sun Fade
in Comics General

Agreed. Sun fade hits the heavy metal colors, yellow and red, the hardest. This looks more like a problem with the blue plate.
