Agreed actually.  And issue 7 is the classic.  Maybe Angelo  can chime in?  Any otyer discrepencies we know of?

Fraggle Rock Canadian Price Variant #7

David. You, Dan and Bellrules are correct, Fraggle Rock #8 definitely has no CPV. Good catch gentlemen ! As for Angel Love and Zatanna Special #1 there are corresponding US newsstand examples ( Ben has a link on the CPV guide pointing to this) so the "possibility" that they exist is there but I have never seen one. As for Hawkman 16-17 and Blue Beetle 22-23  direct editions of these issues do have the tell-tale "logo box" which may lead one to believe that newsstand editions could exist but the possibility is much lower. Given these were the last two issues and sales were probably lackluster, we cannot rule out if a decision was taken not to print them?

I don't know if I have ever had any, but I buy mags on a regular basis. Are they fairly easy to distinguish?

CPV's have a higher COVER PRICE and most also have a BARCODE considering they are NEWSSTANDS . You can check out the Canadian Price Variant guide that gets updated each year with pics for comics and magazines (similar to the Overstreet) at:

A few Canadian variants.  Price is really the only obvious difference, the seller didn't distinguish any of these when I bought them:

That Vamp #113 is the top CPV magazine to get. Congrats! Do you have any CPV Vamp's graded?

The one who sold it to you probably had no clue...his loss and your gain in this case.

  4. @CGC Mike I haven't read the whole thread but noticed many in the community have FANTASTIC ideas that CGC should take into consideration when reading this thread !

Another idea that may or may not have been mention:

Add BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY to each book when received? Maybe this could add an extra layer of security to what exists now at CGC for all owners, sellers and potential buyers who want to view the tracked history with a little more confidence going into 2024?

Why would this be picked up as a news story when worse issues haven't? This is just the latest oopsie from a grading company which made thousands of oopsies, just like any other grading company has.

You make a good point. Then again, it should be reported considering this could amount to a ton of money going back longer than most of us might want to believe. What if we discover it's many more sellers than originally thought of?

    Blackstone owns CGC not Blackrock.

No one will care as mentioned. 20 years ago it was a submitter trimming and aging the edges of a Golden Age Batman book and getting a blue label. Then it was Ewert.

Sports cards have numerous examples of cards from all the grading companies encapsulating cards with issues including trimming and bleaching and not much is done about it even with many of the issues being traced back to a handful of subitters/sellers. At best maybe an FBI investigation that doesn't amount to much. The first PSA card ever graded was trimmed and not noted as such...

You are correct, my mistake, I'll go correct it now. Thanks!

So what does this all mean for collectors?  Blind allegiance and loyalty to the company? Angry posts and videos that amount to words only and no action? Jumping ship to the only real choice in 3rdPG?

The reality is, nothing will come of this. Nothing at all. Collectors will complain and moan, all the while still sending CGC books for grading and CGC smiles at you and gives you the finger. Another scandal arises and it's rinse and repeat from collectors ad nauseam.

This thread will do nothing toward sparking any tangible change because it will do nothing to negatively impact revenues which is the only thing corporations respond to.

Someone here should contact one of the big media companies and make sure they cover this scam. The legacy media will contact CGC for further info considering this could be a scam on a larger scale most people think. Make sure the Media outlet is not owned by Blackstone considering they want to reshape the world in their image...lol

I checked into this.  Here is what I was told from Matt Nelson:

Whether they are from Berk, or any significant collection we recognize on our label (pedigrees included). We can’t simply go off a cert because the books can be switched. Proof must be provided beyond that. In this case we would need a link from the CC auction or website, or since we know the guys at Comicconnect, an email from one of them confirming that they sold this particular copy from the Berk collection to him. If I can get that, I’ll add it to the label if he sends it to my attention. But he should secure that info before he mails me the book.

Hi Mike, thank you so much for your reply!!! Being the owner of the book, I can definitely ask ComicConnect to write me an e-mail providing proof that I won this raw Warrior Mag #1 on their auction years ago and in fact that there is a certificate of authenticity proving the book comes from the personal collection of Jon Berk. This was one of two reasons why I bought it in the first place. I'll get you that info ASAP Mike.

Thanks again for making my day!  Customer service was not  very helpful when I kept telling the young lady that what she was saying made absolutely no sense. She also never once asked for the proof. She kept saying CGC no longer does this on the label. Maybe she was a new employee, one who does not understand or collect comics thus does not know how to address the problem adequately without asking her immediate supervisor who intern, also does not collect comics and hands down a clear verdict, " NO"  without ever once  taking 2 minutes and communicate with me directly.

Regardless, it's no one's fault, glad I have a way of getting this fixed. God Bless

  9. Sad news indeed about his passing!

I bought a raw Warrior Magazine #1 on ComicConnect and it came with a certificate " ...Jon Berk collection ). My presser sent it off to to CGC and it recently came back with a blank label with no certificate because CGC lost it. I reached out to ComicConnect a few weeks back and they mentioned that the certificate would be reissued and mailed to me. I have yet to receive it !!! Will call them again a 4th time to see if it was mailed out. My presser and I e-mailed CGC customer service and the lady wrote back that CGC no longer adds " ...Jon Berk Collection" . That it was done in the past but no longer now. I was confused and wrote back that CGC should and must respect a book if it has a certificate of authenticity from this collection. Her following reply simply reiterated that CGC no longer labels it as such.

Am I missing something here gentlemen? Is the lady at customer service correct? I feel cheated by such a response. Anyone here experienced the same or know someone at CGC who actually knows how to help fix this because they understand why my book should have the proper label?

Thanks for any advice and contact information I could use to reach someone at CGC in the know.

Stumbled on this book, was just listed so I couldn't pass it up. Must be freshly graded as there are no 9.8 copies curently on the census:

7 graded in 9.8 Canadian Price Variant at CGC (5 Blue label and 2 SS) . And another 2 copies in 9.8 restored. The owner of this copy had it for at least 1 year from what I recall.
