  1. First off, thanks for letting me share. I tend to do a traditional painting then come back to something superhero related. I had done a X-Men drawing about 7 years ago. My original intention was to do a Conan homage but couldn't quite get the feel I wanted. But, somehow the X-Men crept in to the artist's block. Clearly I'm showing my X-bias. I'm a Claremont/Byrne fan first and foremost plus some Silver Age. I have to trim the edges and included the B&W version prior to the coloring process.
  2. Looks like it had a sticker in it at some point. No idea what that means for grade but looks like a nice VF 8.0
  3. Found this today for $2. I have a normal version that is a NM 9.2. I have my guess on this but since I've never won the Grading tournament...
  4. Got some nice books at a LCS sale today ranging from $2 to $4 each. Some I bought out of sheer nostalgia (Battlestar Galactica #1 when I was 13), some out of curiosity (Doomsday cover) and some for my collection. I already have a Showcase #97 with Power Girl but couldn't pass this up for $4. Sames goes for the Whitman JLA. It was worth $2 just to have the variant.
  5. Great thread. Maybe I’ll dig up my old stuff the weekend. Good memories
  6. I've had mine for almost 15 years. I'm good.
  7. Congrats to all! At least I made the Furious 48.
  8. I'm a bit late to post my Prize donation, "By Crom I Won Something In The Tourney!": Some Conan books including: Conan #11 - maybe a VF 8.0? Conan #64, #103, #117, #230, #236 (various grades, probably nothing under a 7.0)
  9. OK, I was out of town most of the week so I got to review and record my purchases from C2E2. My overall observations: So glad I got right in line at the opening on Sunday for Perez. It was an hour wait but worth it. (It looked like it almost tripled that when I looked back at how long it got.) He was so gracious. I had met him once a few years back at Motor City and got my Crisis TPB signed. But I really wanted a print to frame. As an insurance policy, I lugged a wood-backed, Crisis one that I bought a few years ago from Meijers. Found the NTT #1 cover next door at Marv Wolfman and got his signature as well. Perez was a key artist from my youth in the late 70's/early 80's. I love those NTT titles and collected those and X-Men at the same time. Those were two heavy-weights back then. Got my usual great books from Bob Storms and Dale Roberts. Also got some nice "fillers" from Comics For Less. (See the "Steel" books. Not on my list but I owned them as a 12 year old back in the day. Sheer nostalgia purchase). Also got to meet Bedrock City in person and bought a couple of books. I had never met them or seen their inventory. Very nice selection. Last stop was Torpedo Comics. They seem to have some Bronze books when I saw them a few years back at C2E2 and still did at this one. Got some nice Batman Family's. Plugged a lot of mid-level holes with no major keys at this one. Dale sold me a really nice Superman 233. I remember drawing that cover for a Jr High project back in 1978 or so... Plus would read the issue in my hardcover "Superman from the 30's to 70"s" as a kid. The Conan #17 is an upgrade. About a year ago I was switching my early Conan's to Mylite2's. When I took out my old Conan #17 then, I noticed how touched up it was with a Sharpie. Grrr. But, that is an advantage to what I've learned here on the site. I bought the resto-#17 back in the late 90's at Motor City. My Jedi Training here has come in handy... (Now, probably give the resto-Conan #17 away to a nephew as a reader. Or destroy it so it doesn't haunt me... lol) Well, thanks for letting me share!
  10. I remember that Doc Savage book! I used to have quite a few and sold them about 8 years ago.
  11. Mines only an 8.0 by my estimation. Still love owning it.
  12. Have owned this for years and it really hasn't grown much in value. But I love the JSA/Solomon Grundy angle which I why I bought it 20 years ago.
  13. I've been converting all my "over $15" books to the Mylite2's and Full Backs/Half Backs for a couple of years now. They look great. Regarding Full Backs vs Half Backs, I agree with Domo Arigato. Space is an issue so the Half Backs come in handy for a lot of books. The other thing that helped me with space was I stopped buying new, modern books in 2015... Found I was just feeding my completionist curse and not really reading them.
  14. The value is more curiosity. I can count on one hand the amount of times I've sold a comic (much to my wife's consternation... )
